I suppose Rick's is not too bad, all in all, but it's just bad enough to break up the momentum or interrupt your time with somebody.

On every night except Sundays, they have dance "specials" at 9, 10:30 and 12 am. It's a 2 for $30 (dances are regularly $20) and you get a Rick's item. It's a pretty crappy deal for the dancers, because they have to pay $20 for the item and all have to participate.

And the items are crapperific. Of course there are t-shirts, but there are also coffee mugs, beer mugs (which will break spontaneously - that's always fun!), lighters, decks of cards, golf balls, cheap ass cigars, etc. Of course it's ridiculous. These items aren't worth a plug nickel, much less $20.

So it's crappy. I don't necessarily avoid it, because I like spending time with my ladies as much as I can, but I usually try to compensate with a tip. It sucks to get $10 for 2 dances. I just wish they'd do away with it altogether.

    Later.

We do T-shirt dance specials and two-4-ones during Friday and Saturday nights only, and only when it is super busy.

As an experienced patron, I agree with VenusGoddess.

Somethings that I see in good clubs are

    - Dancer's on stage at all time keeping the energy going. (There is nothing worse then coming into the club and wondering if they don't have dancer's on stage until a certain time of day.)

    - Dancer's come by after their stage show and say "thanks" to the people who tipped on stage. Make sure to say thanks to everyone who did tip, ask if they would like a private dance after you thank everyone who came up to you on stage - then go back and give the dances to those who requested one before choosing the table you want to hang out with. To me, the reason I go up and tip the dancer on stage is to let them know I would like a private dance later.

    - Dancer's who are not on stage and in the front of the house should not camp out at a table full of dancer's, sit at the bar or hang out with the manager unless they are sure that the customer's have been given the opportunity for a dance.

    - Have waitresses / shot girls that promote the energy. They should be asking customers sitting alone if they would like a dancer to come by for a dance or to hang out. If you are going to have a shot girl, she should be an entertainer, not just someone walking around asking if you want a shot. One club in Charlotte had an awesome shot girl that became part of the reason to come back to the club again and again.

If you want to run a drink special, charge a normal real world price for a beer ($2.75-$3.50).

2 for 1's to me are a last resort and should not be used on the weekends. The club I work in has a problem with girl's selling 2 for 1's when its not Showtime.....which not only shorts them out of 20 bucks, but it also ruins sales for the rest of us because the customers know they can get a free dance from someone else. So the rest of us are either forced to offer 2 for 1's to make the sale, or lose a sale. Even if they aren't tightwads, who wants to pay for just 1 dance when you can get buy one and get one free from somewhere else? If I go shopping I'm not gonna pay full price if I can get a 50% off discount at another store.

My club doesnt run many, so here's a list of ones I've seen in the clubs I've worked in, as well as clubs I've been a customer at:

Themed parties. My current club does a luau every few months. The girls dress up, the club even supplies grass skirts and leis. We have a bartender from Thailand who cooks an entire buffet. This one depends on your club's budget.

Themed shows. If a dancer has a themed show, advertise it for them. On X night at X time, so-and-so will do here themed set. Offer to advertise this sort of thing for any of the girls who wants to come up with a good themed show. Let them have their moment to shine every week if they want.

Oil/jello/pudding/etc wrestling contests. Dress the DJ up like a ref and have matches between the girls. W000hah!

Amateur night tends to bring in a lot of people.

Car/bike shows and/or washes in the parking lots.

Couples night. Have door specials/drink specials/etc for couples on a specific night.

Wet & wild shows. Grab a kiddie pool, lots of water, and lets the girls go to town on stage. Sponges, soap, etc....

Dance-a-thons. If a customer gets over x amount of dances, they get a free shot, over y amount of dances, gets a free shirt or something promotional.

The club I'm at now is doing a raffle at one specific time every Saturday. $150 worth of liquor. W00t!

Beaver basketball tournaments. See who is the best at sinking that shot. The most balled up dollars in (in a row) or the largest bill (amount-wise) in gets a prize.

    Strap-on ring toss. Nuff said.

We have business cards that get you in for free before 10pm, and you get a free shot if your 21+

Of course you have to make sure that the club owner, the girls, the town, zoning boards, etc are all groovy with the idea(s) you choose....
