Default WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??

OMG, you would think that after paying $600.00 for 6 weeks of personal training to tone lower body, I would be doing everything totally right (with my diet)..but I'M NOT!! and today was only the FIRST day of training! Ok, so far, I have eaten 2 pieces of toast, a bowl of apple jacks's, a half of a peanut butter sandwitch, a handfull of doritos, and several crackers. It's like I can't get enough to eat today.... AND- I am still hungry! Do ya'll ever have days like this???

Maybe it would help to plan your meals in advance so you have the "right" food in stock. Know what you will eat for breakfast before you go to bed. Throw out all the "wrong" food.

Of course you are hungry - all you ate was SHIT! Start eating nutritious foods and your body will be nourished and satisfied. DUH

How bout several pieces of fruit to start your day followed by a large salad with tons of different veggies and a piece of snapper or chicken with vegetables for dinner. That is my day and I am never hungry and have tons of energy and I run on the beach everyday and go to the gym.

One thing I have learned. Never have tempting foods around the house. I refuse to buy junk food. I threw it all out. I only buy things that are healthy (well, I have to have diet coke and an occasional Fat Tire beer.. but that's really the only things I keep in the house that are bad).

I eat before I go to the store, I cook all my chicken etc ahead of time, and when I am hungry, I will munch on cold cooked chicken, celery with peanut butter and on those days that I have to have chocolate.. I keep a small ration of Tootsie rolls on hand and that's it.

Its hard the first week.. but hang in there and if you are really feeling hungry.. eat something with protein and drink a TON of water.

Are you pre-menstrual? Regardless, eating a healthy diet, esp during this time helps. Esp with cravings. The foods that you mentioned won't give you long lasting energy. You'll crash, and feel tired and hungry. The foods that Ryan, and Gynger mentioned are good.

stay away from refined carbs and sugar. Increase water. If you are super hungry eat a hardboiled egg and an apple. also if you get cravings just drink water instead and if water alone is difficult then get some crystal lite. Like raelene (sp) said it is best if you plan your meals then you just don't go grab for whatever.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

Ryan is right (this time ). This is what I do, minus the chicken (have a bird allergy). When your body becomes accustomed to real, whole, raw foods, you won't crave the processed and refined sugars that line your colon with plaque and prevent nutrient absorption.

It's not about diet; it's about changing your lifestyle as you know it. No, it's not easy for some, but with a little discipline it will become second nature and you'll actually be repelled by the foods you once considered normal.

so true! When dieting, I plan out exactly what I will eat that day before I even start eating. This way I count everything out and make sure I'm getting everything I need.

Then if I eat it all too soon, I'm SOL the rest of the day. And since I will never want that to happen, I ration it out.

    For example, tomorrow.

    Low-fat muffin
    nonfat yogurt
    orange
roast beef sandwich on whole grain bread
    string cheese
    apple
    chicken stir fry
    biscotti

I try to let myself eat whatever I want, just stay around a good number of calories. If you just kind of graze, you'll screw yourself up.

whole foods will give you soooooo much energy too. Today my diet was

breakfast - strawberry, apple, blueberry, ginger fresh juice

lunch - thai stir fry vegetables

dinner - broccoli with small piece of chicken & celery apple ginger fresh juice.

I'll tell ya what, I feel great. I had about 15-20 servings of fruits and vegetables today which I think is the ideal amount. Jack Lalanne is 95 years old and has been juicing 20 servings of raw fruits and veggies for the past 60 plus years and he in more healthy at 95 than most people are at 35.

The power of raw fruits and veggies is insane.

I noticed also that ALL the food I have in my house is fresh and stored in the fridge and MUST be used within a few days of it will spoil. I do not eat foods that are boxed or canned or changed any way from their natural design. So I have essentially eliminated all preservatives and such from my diet.

There is a great book called "The Maker's Diet" that just came out that follows the exact same approach. Eat foods found in nature, the way they come in nature. Simplicity is key. Using fruits, veggies, fish, meats, herbs and spices the limit is the sky on how many meals you can make. Thai people basically eat the same way. Get a Thai cookbook and you can find hundreds of recipies using natural ingredients, especially coconut which is one of my favorite foods of all, and the worlds biggest seed!

I totally agree with Gynger on this one also!

I NEVER, EVER have any JUNK OR TEMPTED FOOD IN MY HOUSE EVER!!!!

It will always be in my mind until I go crazy! This what I do which just might work for you.

I cook all my chicken, make my hard boiled eggs on Sundays. So when in the week I can just grab my ziplock bags and pop them in my lunch bag and go on my merry way. I also love these Detour bars they taste just like candy OMG I was literialy licking it lol my boyfriend was cracking up at me but he was the fool to give me one. The are soooo good just like a candy par but its a protein bar and sooo yummy and comes in handy when my once a month friend is here.

I also do cardio in the morning and a quick 30 minute workout. Through out your day you might want to hit that floor and push out some push ups, or do some crunches, etc... I try to workout as much as I can.

Also, put up a photo of someone you want to look like and every single time you want those chips, candy whatever look at it and think okay a moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips. If you are paying 600.00 for 6 weeks just think if you contine to eat the way you are you just blew 600 for nothing.

Nobody is perfect God knows I had my ups and downs. But the first week is sooo hard believe me once you get through it you will feel so much better and proud of yourself for not eating or giving into your weak moment.

Also buy flavor water that comes in handy also Crystal light is sooo good also!

I was 220 and now 140 believe me sweetie I know what journey is in front of you so just keep strong and know it does get easier and think of that lean, sexy body you will have in 6 WEEKS!!!

YOU ARE THE BOMB SEXY THANG!!!!
    KEEP IT UP!

Thank you for your suggestions! I am going to the grocery store to stock up on good foods. The biggest issue for me is dinner. I don't cook (like haven't cooked one single meal in over 2 years) partly because it seems to be a bigger hassle than its worth and secondly because I don't know how. So, I can do good (when I have good food available) during the day- but it all goes to hell at night when I don't know how to cook anything and I am hungry and don't want to get dressed to go out to dinner. It also doesn't help that I have junk in the house for my husband (who can eat anything!)- I guess I am going to just have to learn to cook b/c eating fast food isn't going to work. I can only eat at McAllisters so much (example- dinner tonight was at hooters... chicken wings (breaded) and 1/2 order of fries)- BUT tomorrow I will be good b/c my motivation is to look VERY SEXY in 6 weeks! p.s- it also sucks b/c i don't really gain but maybe 2-3 lbs. when I eat like that over the course of a couple months, and so I just look kind of flabby in my thighs and butt (without clothes) but in clothes, I look really good- so I'm just like screw it, I want cheetos! ......but, I want to look unbelievable without clothes AND I will not let my money be wasted....so thanks again and i will keep you informed! My program is cardio mon-fri 45 minutes (i walk at 4.0-4.4 mph) and three days per week weights- of course concentrating on lower body....my trainer is big on lunges and squats and it kills me (in a good way!)

I am no expert but it seems like peanut butter wouldnt be a good idea for a dieter. There is a lot of nasty oils in there.I like to eat pickles when dieting, they only have 0 to 5 calories in them.I also like tuna in water.I like to eat cautiflower or bell peppers dipped in fat free ranch dressing.I have also experimented making soup from heating up tomato juice. Also eat grapefruit,I hear it acts like an acid and helps burn up calories. An orange probably work the same way if you hate grapefruit.I agree with ryan though about eating lots of fruit/veggie natural foods. You will shed the pounds and probably even get more benefits out of too like healthy skin and hair. good luck to you

    maybe you should try diettogo.com

I loved it because I didn't want to cook, didn't want to eat at a restaurant, and am tired of frozen dinners.

Dont forget you will natural be a little hungrier(is that a word) now that you are working out, b/c you metabolism is going to speed up as your body is going to use more nutrients. Its ok to eat more...as long as its healthy(like everyone said already).

Being extra hungry is normal when working out. You'll get used to it.

You don't have to necissarily know how to "cook" to prepare healthy (Dinner!) meals at home. Buy chicken breasts, put them on a broiler pan and broil them...it takes half an hour to 45 minutes and you can do a ton of them at once...put them in the fridge and heat them up for salads, sandwiches, or on their own. Part of cooking is practice, so once you get comfortable with the very basics...such as what I just told you the rest is a cake walk, you'll naturally progress and add on. Make big salads, there's no cooking involved, throw them in your fridge. You could eat 20 cups of everything you listed in your first post, and you'd still be hungry because it was all refined processed food. Basically your new rule should be, beware of anything that comes in a box! Obviously that's totally extreme, but you need to train your body to know what real food is. And if you've been eating out every day or close to it, it's also very damaging. Restaurant portions not only come 2 to 3 sizes larger than what you should be eating at a meal...but they rarely have anything to do with fulfilling someone's nutritional needs. If cooking still seems like a complete chore to you (and you're already investing major cash into your body) take a basic cooking class...it will be the best thing you can do for yourself.

What I do is buy the precook chicken breast or fish from Gordon's and just pop it in the oven or microwave.

As for going out to eat. I don't to me its way to much tempted food around for me so I just don't if I do its Boston Market for Chicken and maybe a small side salad just depends. So when you do go out just try to make good food choices.

    A note on peanut butter....
yeah skippy isn't too great for you (loaded with sugars, preservatives, extra oils) but if you choose all natural nut butters you'll be a lot better off. At my grocery store they actually let you grind your own (big machine that looks like a coffee grinder but with nuts in it) so you know all you are getting are the raw nuts. You can even make your own at home in a food processor.

    Yeah i forgot about that
Peanut butter is WICKED good for you in small doses, if you get the all natural kind. I personally like Adam's...I don't know if they sell it in the States...but they have in Canada, so probably.

My breakfast is constant: a small bowl of cheerios-type cereal, five slices of turkey bacon, a small piece of cheddar cheese, OJ and black coffee. At dinner it's usually a small piece of meat or poultry, a can of lima beans, another piece of cheddar cheese and water. At lunch it depends on whether I'm out of the office and I generally eat more than I should but since I excercise it's no big deal

My savior has been my slow cooker.

I have an hour and a half drive to and from work every day, and after my shift, I'm starving. I pass a ton of fast food places on the way home that are tempting, but if I know I've got something yummy simmering in the Crock Pot at home, I won't stop.
Skyler, I highly suggest getting one! It's the lazy way to "cook," you just combine ingredients and let them cook for 6-10 hours. If you want some good, healthy recipes, PM me.

My fave was chicken breast and broccoli steamed in a steamer for 30 minutes. Nothing added to either, and they both tasted GREAT! I hate cooking too. In fact, I rarely cook...my SO does most of the cooking. My attention span is much too short to stand over watching the food cook. I'm better with something that I can turn on and forget about without worrying about burning anything.

About peanut butter...get the all-natural kind (where the oil separates and you need to mix it all before you use it). It has natural oils in it...and THAT kind of peanut butter is very healthy for you. You should really avoid eating ANYTHING with any kind of hydrogenated oils in it. Studies have shown that eating hydrogenated oils can cause many health problems (contains trans fatty acid which is toxic for your body). I have added some links for those of you who are interested in reading about it. Ryan is right...fresh fruits and veggies (that are whole...not treated with pesticides and all that other crap) is best. More expensive, but in the long run, the medical bills from the other foods greatly off-sets the dollar amount.

    Be healthy!!

yeah, hydrogenated oil sucks ass. It's seriously just like eating plastic, they body has never had it before and knows not what to do with it.

Everyone thought they were being all healthy when they all switched to margarine instred of butter, but I would 10000 times rather eat butter than margarine which is pure hydrogenated soybean oil. It's funny how the media can steer people like that. True, margarine has not chlosterol, but chlosterol necessary for humans, partially hydrogenated soybean iol is not. All animal foods have chlosterol. People have been eating butter for 10's of thousands of years, hydrogenated oils for about 20 years. Trans fats clog arteries like a mother fucker.
