    Default wet/dry hair straighteners?

I see that vidal sassoon has out a new hair straightener that you can straighten your hair while it's wet with. It says the ceramic plates somehow evaporate the water and leave more moister in your hair than if you straigten dried hair and is healthier for your hair. It says that it cuts styling time in half too.

Has anyone tried this, does it work? I have some thick bushy hair if i don't use my flat iron...

    TRUST ME
Anything...Anything at all that says it can straighten your hair without damaging it while it is wet is wrong wrong wrong. Ceramic plates? A decent straightener is supposed to have ceramic plates anyways...and trust me, you will KILL your hair if you try and straighten it wet with anything. YIKES...i know, I have thick bushy hair too and it's a bitch...but just trust me on this one, take a pass they are lying.

Ceramic straighteners are LESS damaging, but they are in no way "safe". Just be sure whenever you use a straightener or other heat styling tool on your hair to first apply a heat protectant to lessen the damage and possible breakage.

Very true, i have a gf who is addicted to flat irons and such. Her hair is HAY. Now, her hair only looks good when it is straight by these "hair burners." When she wears her hair normal now, it is nasty! Super dry, frizzy and in need of a major short short haircut. Again, she is addicted to the look she gets with these things, and uses them at least 5 days a week, sometimes hammers her hair with a flat iron in the bathroom at work. Sad. She knows too, but says she can't stop because her hair looks longer, and is super straight. Which it is, after that...the damage sets in.

Hmmm--I have heard of these wet-dry straighteners. I've heard of Krembs and Mucota, but I have never tried them. Try going to beautywalk.com and go into the Salon forum--they have loads of information about getting straight locks. I would imagine that the wet-dry irons would really fry and damage your hair. Much like blowdrying soaking wet hair, the heat from the iron boils the water on your hair until it is dry. I, personally, wait until my hair is mostly dry before using a blowdryer, and I use a flatiron about 1-2 times a week. But this week, except for my bangs, my hair is taking a break. And even though I have the 80's hair thing happening, I'm actually making the same amount of money. Yay. Anyhoo, like someone mentioned earlier--be sure to use protection! Whether you are just blowdrying, curling irons, or whatever.

I don't even blow dry my hair. I let my hair air dry completely (I have naturally curly hair) and then using a natural bristle brush, I brush out the sections and then run a flat iron over them (I have the ceramic plates). My hair goes bone straight (not in humid weather, though) and then I don't wash my hair for 1-2 days afterwards...if I DO wash it right away (next day) then I don't style my hair.

Doing any kind of styling to your hair while it's wet is a no-no. Your best bet is to condition heavily, air dry naturally, then straight iron from there using a sheen balm.

I wouldnt but the one for wet hair. I personally know how my hair has "sizzled" when I have put it in the flat iron, or curling iron when it was wet.
I dont think its a good idea, but thats not for me to choose for ya. For me, I wouldnt, as I had a time where my hair was as Pamela's friend described. I finally decided to grow it out and cut it every 6-8 weeks with amazing results.

Just be careful and dont over do it.

I seem to recall that the ionic flat iron could be used on wet hair. This is the iron comes with your stylist's Japanese Hair Straightening system. A stylist in the dressing room straightened my hair one evening using the ionic iron my hair was sooooo silky and shiny like glass. I swear she said it could be used on wet hair. Of course, we're talking about a $400 iron though...

There is a hot green one that Tigi makes. I would think that it would be bad for your hair, seeing as the only thing that ISN'T damaging to wet hair is gently fingercombing it. But it must save SO much time.
