Default Shaving - how often?

How often do you shave your bikini area? I shave bare, but I find that when I start to see stubble about 2 or 3 days after shaving, it's impossible to shave off the stubble. I get crazy razor burn that looks worse than it would if I hadn't tried to shave at all.

How long should I wait between shaving sessions to avoid razor burn? If I let my pubic hair grow out a few cm and shave it very carefully, I won't get razor burn, but if I try to shave the stubble I just BLEED and turn red! Help! ???

I shave every day...because I have to, and I dont get razor burn. I use a new razor each time, and I make sure that my skin is softened by spending lots of time in the shower before hand. It sounds like you've got really sensitive skin...have you thought about waxing. Also, I've found that neosporin after shaving helps prevent any razor burn. There is a thread a while back with some other good shaving tips...you should search it up.

    Oh...your avatar is really cool

yeah I have to shave every day to get rid of stubble. I usually do it every other day (because I'm not a dancer so no one really sees it) just for my own comfort.

I second Foxxee's comment on your avatar!

Yeah, my skin is terribly sensitive, it's a pain. I have waxed before and it was great but I'm not good at letting it grow back, I get impatient and shave it before it's long enough to wax again.

Usually I shave very carefully, then use solid deodorant over the skin and follow that with a cornstarch-based dusting powder (talc isn't good to get near your unmentionables), but I'll try the neosporin, and I guess just figure out when the best time to shave is by process of elimination.

PS: thanks for the avatar compliments!

I used to have the same problem, and not be able to shave for 3 or 4 days, but I finally said F*(< it, and started just suddenly shaving everday. It was better than trying to shave every day, and my skin got used to it... I, too, use neosporin... like I said, was uncomfortable and bled a little for probably, the 1st week or so, but after that got better and better. Good Luck!

I'm Chinese so I only have to shave there once a week.

I got tired of the razor bumps that I got no matter what (baby oil, Mach 3, letting the shaving cream sit for a loooooong time) that I just paid to get the coochie lasered.

I love it! It's totally smooth, you can shave while you wait for the hair to fall out and it cures razor burn immediately. It's kinda pricey, but totally worth it to have it zapped a few times and just forget about it.

Noelle, try shaving in the shower using baby oil. When you get out of the shower, pat the area dry, NEVER rub, then apply some cortisone cream.

Onlythebest..LOL Ok, so being nearly hairless is one thing going for us. =)

I always keep a modified triangel, mostly because it hurts to shave there. when I danced I would shave the rest every other to every 3rd day, I just kept remembering with the lights dim and flashing and him being sevral feet away he cant really tell as long as its just stubble.. of course I dont have very dark hair either. now if someone aside from me was touching it I try to keep it smooth all the time, but customers arent allowed to touch me there.

I shave once a week. I do it at the end of the shower and usually I do it when I know I have the following day off, if I do get any razor burn, that's when it looks the worst. I exfoliate with sea salts and oil, or I use an exfoliating rag with acne (salycilic acid) body wash on it. Then I use a good razor (no disposables), and moisturizing shaving cream. If I notice any breakouts, I put on some bikini zone or deoderant. I usually shave mid-week, so the stuble is not too long on the busy weekends!

I have the same problem. I use the bikinitrimmer to get rid of the vast majority, then go over it ONCE in the direction of hair growth(<~~~~if I go against, I'm guaranteed to have bumps!) with that vibrating mach razor, new blade each time, then PAT until mostly dry (moist is ok) then put neo. over it. I can never shave the whole thing, I have to leave a patch, or for some reason I get TERRIBLE bumps. As it is, I just get minimal bumps that can be easily covered with body makeup.

    Agree with Foxee and Vaden...

Shave every day, shave the bikini area at the end of the shower so the area has hot water on it for 15 minutes or so prior, use bikini zone after...however, I'm really bad about changing the blade, I usually change it once a week, but no issues with bumps/burns.
