    Default Trip Hop/Downtempo/Drum N Bass

I was wondering if Trip Hop/Downtempo/Drum N Bass (groups like Massive Attack, Lamb, zero 7, Thievery Co., Morcheeba, etc.) is considered "clubworthy" music? ???

I've been fortunate to have come across a few entertainers who enjoy it and regularly play tracks in their sets. But other than those particular entertainers, I rarely, if ever, hear, let alone see someone perform to it. I've been told that Trip Hop wasn't "club friendly" because it was too mellow, obscure, monotonous and difficult to dance to which I totally disagree with.

Are there any other fans out there? What are your faves? And if you're a performer, what's your favorite set?

    Thanks in advance!

drum and bass is difficult for the audience more than the dancer, i would think-- most d&b has a hard, cold edge to it (which is what i love about it) but there is not a lot of drum and bass that is sexy... based mostly just on the speed and dizzying syncopation of the beats.

trip hop, though, i disagree would be bad to dance too-- if its great to have sex to, its great to dance to, i think, and its some of the best stuff around for a very hot night in.

I enjoy Andrea Parker and wish she would come out with a new release. Her album Kiss My Arp is a favorite that gets heavy play time in my CD changer. If you like her style, check out Mezzanine from Massive Attack. I think you'll dig it.

The Pimps' Bloodsport album has a very different sound in comparison to their earlier albums. Fun to listen to but not my favorite from them. Becoming X is their second album which IMO is their best.

I think you're right about most D-n-B. It just isn't sexy enough for stage, although I've always thought it would be an interesting experience seeing a performance done to a Goldie or Roni Size track.

And yes, Trip Hop is the best stuff around for a hot night in!
