    Default Clear Plastic Platform Shoes

I have wondered for awhile why dancers wear these platform shoes. It has to be murder on the feet, and damn hard to dance in (I imagine)

Who came up with that one?

What would be wrong with dancing in sandals, or in a carpeted place, barefoot? I would think that would be just as sexy, and might even be more sexy, and alluring.

I have had dances where the dancer took off her shoes, and she was much more comfortable.

It's our look.It caught on some years ago.I prefer non clear ones myself.I am very agile in my heels.I think taking off heels during a dance makes it look less professional.

Yeah, I would say it is pretty much the standard so we keep wearing them. Barefoot would be great with a certain theme costume (hula dancer or something) but I wouldn't want to walk around the club like that. To tell you the truth, my summer sandals hurt my feet more than my dancing shoes. They look painful but if you get a good fit and get used to them they aren't bad at all. The platform makes it more comfortable since there is not too much of an arch like there would be if we were wearing regular high heelps. I'd pick platform stilletos over regular heels any day. Just my preference.

The instep or insole of platforms are different than regular pumps. They are more stable and the arch is not as high. The openess of the platforms allow breathabilty whereas pumps do not.

As far as height.A girl that's 5'1" can only be so much taller with pumps.Platforms offer a much wider range for height.

I do not prefer foot rubs because my foot phobia.I believe all feet are nasty and are always dirty(go ahead, laugh).

I feel there's something sexy dancing in those high heels, I like the way my legs look! LOL anyway I take them off during the private dance, I hate slipping about.

Wearing heals over time will strenghten one's legs, help firm up the buttocks and can acutally help to enhance one's posture as well.
Wearing high heels will NEVER enhance one's posture. Look at women who wear heels all the time and you will see a curvature in the lower back (and unless she is aware of her posture) a droop in the shoulders. Heels throw off the natural curve of the spine and so the body tries to compensate.

The nice thing about platform shoes is that the actual heel height is only (on average) about 4" (the heel being six inches and sole being 2").

I personally like the stripper shoes. It helps get me into "stripper mode". And dancing barefoot...I've only done it once and ran and washed and disinfected my feet afterwards. With the amount of traffic that comes in the door, the floors of the clubs are FILTHY DIRTY. Besides being nasty from foot traffic, people drop cigarettes all the time (from being too drunk to be able to hold them) and spill drinks, etc. That just grosses me out to think about putting my bare body parts on the floor...yuck.

    I LOVE STRIPPER SHOES!!
they make me feel sexy, they make my body look better, and for the most part i don't think they're uncomfortable. i love shoes anyway, but it's funny cause all the regular shoes i see that i like in stores look suspiciously "stripper-like." i've always loved platform high heels. and i also love men with foot fetishes. yay!

I couldn't live without my clear platforms! I feel I definately look better in them than out. Although I do take them off when I do LD's, being 5'10" it's easier to get closer when a guys sitting.
The one great thing about the clear shoes is that they go with everything!

i agree, there's no surviving without my spikes! i've held on to every pair i've bougt in the last 6 years. lol. i love the height they give me, not to mention my long legs just look endless! i find it much easier to walk in those than lower heels.

I love my stripper shoes too - like Venus said it gets me into stripper mode too. Also makes my body look great too.

At my club we have to take our shoes off during a dance, not sure why, probably has something to do with spiking a customer or maybe ripping one of their leather couches??

    three cheers for platforms!

The shoes are sexy, but if I could dance barefoot, I damn well would.

I think I have read a post similar to this one. I didn't read anyone else's responses so if I am repeating I apologize. For me, it helps me dance and spin.... It also lifts my ass up and makes my legs look longer, so even if I do get a back ache from them it's worth it. When I first started dancing I had the hardest time walking in them, but now I actually like walking in them. I love the height...it's a total power trip.

I love my shoes! If I go for that clear style I like them tinted a candy color, or the wedge style heel. Just plain clear stilettos are sooo played out........

A different take on stripper shoes: if you are an energetic dancer, you can pivot and jump on the pole easily- the plastic is sturdy and the oval soles help you turn. Plus, sadly, in rough bars, sharp plastic shoes can be used as weapons....; P

I don't wear em - I dance best and make more $ in a 12 year old pair of boots I have that have been repaired umpteen times, lol! I just can't find anything else like them, plus they are soooo comfortable like a 2nd set of feet!!! I own a few pairs of stripper shoes and boots, but have never lasted for more than a few minutes in them.

I swear I could run a marathon in my platforms. I don't remove them while lap dancing. I've seen one too many spank rags on the floor to ever want to take my shoes off. ???

I love my stripper platforms. They really arent that uncomfortable, and I wouldnt be able to dance the way that I do without them. I've tried other shoes...they just arent the same.

I love my shoes!! I think they add more sex appeal, as they aren't what you see on the street everyday. Sure they aren't the most comfortable things in the whole world, but I have a pair of "regular" suede stilettos that hurt a ton more (those shoes make my cry!).

Dancing barefoot would not be a good idea.
Add broken glass to the list too.

My stripper shoes are more comfortable that any other pair of shoes I own. While I probably couldn't run a marathon in them, I could wear them for hours without even thinking about my feet. I've tried to replace them twice, as the shoes I have are older and starting to show it, but both times, the new shoes made my feet hurt so bad that I switched back to my old pair. Maybe if I find the exact same brand, height, and size again, it would be different...

I'm 5'4" without my shoes and I love how my 7" spikes make me look like a super-leggy Amazon.

What I always tell guys when they ask me this at work: the platform offsets the heel height a bit, so your feet aren't pitched up as high as they would be in normal heels. Plus the type I usually buy are a bit padded already. My feet rarely hurt after work, only if I have to go on stage a lot and working a long shift.

I don't like doing dances barefoot, but will take them off in the VIP sometimes. Another reason I don't want to go barefoot at work is at the risk of stuff like broken glass hurting my feet.

It hurts more walking 3 blocks in my Blahniks.

I thought the totally clear shoes came from Beauty Pageants? I know that many pageant women wear them especially in the swimsuit competition. I like them because they go with everything, I especially like the ones that have rhinestone accents.

I love to wear "stripper" shoes, actually.

I've had to balance on the balls of my feet since age 8 and on my toes since age 12, so wearing heels that are the typical career pump height of 3 or 4 inches make me wobble a bit. I need at least 5 inches to feel at home . I bet the handfull of other ballet trained dancers here know just what I mean

My favorites are 6 inches with a baby platform front and some sort of ankle strap.

I have been heels ever since I can remember.. when I was a little girl, I used to dress up in my grandma's high heels- she had a whole closet full of cool heels, plus, she was a petite woman- 5'0 and a size 5 shoe, so when I was 8 or 9, they all fit me-LOL... When I was younger (3-4) my grandpa bought me a cool pair of little girl dress up high heels, and I guess used to throw quite a fit whenever we had to go somewhere- they were like my american express card- I could never leave home without them!

But, I love my shoes- and they are comfortable. I try to buy new shoes every four months as the pads do wear down, plus I am just hard on my shoes- I dance fairly hard and my shoes are always breaking.

I have had requests to do private dances in my bare feet and it just grosses me out.

I know what has happened back there, I also know they spot clean the carpets and clean them only every six months or so... I get grossed out just typing this thinking of all the stuff I have seen happen- guys throwing up, etc... EWWWW...

I have a dude who has a foot fetish, and I always comply, but I am always grossed out afterwards...

So, no, I would never remove my shoes unless I was with someone who had a foot fetish and they were paying me extra.

Edited to add: I wear 7-8 inch heels, and I love the way they make me feel.. they complete me, without them, I'd be lost.

My reason for posting this was to see if dancers DO like getting a foot massage. All of the dancers who said they loved their shoes and all, does that mean you wouldn't take a foot massage if it was offered? I don't really have a foot fetish (though I think feet are pretty) but I always thought (but have never had the courage to offer) it would make dancers grateful to get a foot massage.
The times I have offered a back-rub, most dancers are happy to get one (strictly shoulder and back, I don't try to massage the naughty-tasty bits!)

I get a pedicure every other week but I'm still a bit wary as to who touches them. Plus it isn't a very good idea to take shoes on and off. Especially if your feet swell at all. Then it is even more important to keep your shoes on.
    So, ummm... no thanks.
