Default Oh my gawd!

I just found out strippers in Phoenix will have to get a license to work beginning next Friday, July 23, and new stricter dance rules have been passed which will also take effect Friday. Holy crap!!

So I leave town for a couple weeks and come back planning to move to Baltimore, and find this. Huh. Guess it was just my destiny to move to Baltimore.

So dancers could, like, have a spy costume and, like, whip out a card and be like, "Yo.... I've got a license....to strip."

I had to get a license from Maricopa County to dance outside of Phoenix city limits. $150, fingerprints, photo, and they mail you two id cards with clippy things on them. I kept one at home and had the other in the club's office in case I ever had to show it during a raid.

Well now you'll have to get a license to dance inside the Phoenix city limits as well. I danced in Vegas in 2001 but I refuse to dance in any other place where a license is required. How f-ing ridiculous!

And yes money I will be dancing on the block - at the Hustler. I already danced there a week ago and from what I gather, it's definitely NOT typical of a "block club". Will also be travelling to Philly occasionally to dance with my friend there.

Sounds like it's all for the better, Bridgette. From the sounds of it, you weren't exactly having the greatest time in Phoenix with nothing really to hold you there.

Licenses and city paperwork for stripping/dancing are a really poor way for a region to basically control the industry. Then again, if club managers actually did their jobs, city hall would have a harder time justifying such efforts. I never would have guessed Phoenix (of all places..) would adopt such a thing.

I'm glad you shared this as I have a friend that came from Phoenix to SF, is now in Vegas and was planning on returning here for a while, then eventually winding up back in Phoenix. She's totally against this license nonsense from her Vegas trip and this may make her reconsider her AZ return. Ugh, what a bunch of BS!

Hey Bridgette - we'll take you here in Baltimore! It's not too bad here!

Yeah- in Hawaii you need a card or liscense from the liquor commission to dance. A club will hire you but not allow you to dance without it. It had your picture and everything!

Yeah so I talked to NinaD on the phone last night/this morning and decided to push up my move date. Changed my flight to Tuesday, July 20. Damn, I'm off again. Got a LOT to do in the next couple days.

Money, I understand why you'd make that comment about the Block.

When I heard there would be a Hustler Club opening there I couldn't believe it. The rest of the clubs are still kinda nasty, but aside from the usual Deja Vu high fees (which still aren't too bad here) I really believe it's the best club to work in the area. You can make decent money pretty cleanly. There are some other clubs in the area, such as McDoogals, where there's also money, but it's much more contact there.

Miss Bridgette will be a welcome addition to beautify our humble city.

Hustler is definitely NOT like that sad. It's a gentlemen's club, and while the dancers do try to sell dances, there's no high pressure tip-grubbing and the staff is professional. Oh and there are some hot girls there too!

They all seemed the same at the time. Ah well, things change. Well, I guess there will be two hotties there...lol. The next trip to see my daughter in Va, I'll stop by. I'll just have to beat off the hookers outside the clubs. The things I go through to see you gals

Hustler is a newer club. Think it opened up after your trip last year. At any rate I'm quite sure you didn't go there in your block club excursion. It is just not like what you described in that thread.

I reckon you can manage to wade through the hookers on the street on the way in

My guess is that the Hustler is to the Block what Divas is to San Juan (or Puerto Rico, for that matter). Good luck in your new endeavors, B Oh, just wondering if there are any decent hotels near the Block, just in case I make a trip to Bmore

Carlos, if you go to Baltimore, you do not want to stay by the block. TRUST ME on that one! But you will want to stay close to the Inner Harbor which is really beautiful. Baltimore has probably done more to make it's city attractive than any other city in the country. I have been to the block a couple of times, and I have to say, it is basically scary! You have guys just going in and out of clubs all night long. The reason they go in and out, is cuz some of those clubs have absolutely no standards as to what is on stage!!! NASTY! But I believe Bridgette when she says her club is different. Cuz there is no way she would be caught dead in those sleazy places!! LOL Oh and BTW Bridgette, where in Philly are u gonna dance? That is even closer to me

7th Heaven in Conshahawken(sp?). Same owners as Divas in PR but MUCH better management. It's a bit of a dive but a decent place to work and definitely not the worst I've seen. Friendly and pretty low key. The girls do hustle for tips but that's because the stage is in the middle of the bar so they have to circulate for tips after they dance.

Hustler in Baltimore is more of an upscale place with comfy chairs and plush couches. Lots of red velvet and lights.

One will be a nice break from the other for me.
