This was the best trip I've had in a long time! Just got back last night and have a big week ahead of me. I'll try to keep this brief...
June28-July4 - Providence, RI. Beginning of the week sucked ass, working in Prov was a bust. Only highlight was meeting some of the folks from the site before the official StripperFest. StripperFest weekend was great! The boatride was fandamntastic, dinner/bars/hooters were great. It was awesome to meet everyone! I also made a good friend in NinaDaisey, and...
July4-July11 - Baltimore, MD. Skipped out of Providence with NinaD and had a MUCH better week. Nina is a great girl. Met some good people, found out I can make more money here than in PHX, enjoyed the town, decided to move.
On Wednesday, July 7, after working the night before, caught the first train at 4:45am (no sleep) to DC with NinaD and her Fabulous Pillow to camp in line for the Bill Clinton book signing. We arrived at the Barnes & Noble site at about 5:45am and after being directed to the end of the line we camped out with our backpacks and the Fabulous Pillow. This was my first trip to DC, and I gotta tell ya, you just haven't lived until you've slept on the sidewalks there! (Special thanks to the Fabulous Pillow of course)
The people we were in line with were amazingly diverse, and I'm quite sure at least some of them were plenty amused at the sight of Nina and I sharing that Fabulous Pillow and having the occasional delerious outbursts with our Howard Dean impressions. When the line finally started to move and we got to where we could just see the top of The Man's head over the bookstacks, just feet from where we'd get our hastily-purchased books imprinted with his much-treasured autograph, we became giddy like silly schoolgirls about to meet some rock star. But this was much better. I would NEVER sleep on the streets of DC to meet some common rock star, no. Only for Bill Clinton.
When our turns came, Nina had something to tell him and delivered it perfectly, he thanked her and signed her book in big letters. I came next, and I was so awestruck that all I could do was shake his hand with a big friendly "Hi" - and when he started to release the handshake I almost couldn't let go. LOL, rendered speechless and unable to release my grip on his hand for a sec, then of course reality crashed in and I let him sign my book and skipped off to meet Nina with her book. We were both giddy and giggling like little girls. Not surprisingly, getting out was much quicker than getting in. We spent a total of 12 hours in line from start to finish, for a 10-second meeting and an autograph, and both agreed we'd TOTALLY do it again. Only for Bill Clinton.![]()
July11-July15 - Philadelphia, PA. Drove up from Baltimore on the 11th to visit my friend in Philly, who I'd met and worked with in Puerto Rico. Hadn't seen her in a year and it was really great to see her again. Worked with her at her club a couple nights and decided it will be a good place to visit and work occasionally for breaks. Since I'll only be 2 hours away in Baltimore, we'll get to have regular visits.![]()
July15 - Phoenix, AZ. Came home to news that Phoenix strippers will have to get licensed to work and new stricter dance rules go in effect July 23. Election year bullshit that will hurt business here for a while, as well as add more BS excuses for clubs to be raided. That would've caused me to leave here anyway, so I guess it was fate for me to go on that trip, shack up with Nina and decide to move to Baltimore.
I guess I should thank Melonie for posting that thread about Providence. Funny how things work. Definitely a trip worth a couple chapters in the bookHHYYAAAWWWW!!!
