'Success is a Journey - 7 Steps to Achieving Success in the Business of Life' by Jeffery J. Mayer

i just started reading this book. got it off the book shelf at work. some of it is difficult for me to get through, like the parts about failure being a part of life, and to never quit, especially since i'm going through a very difficult time in my life, feel like the biggest failure/loser, and see quitting this life as a viable option.

but something about this book makes me want to keep reading it, and i wanted to share the title, because i think it should be required reading for everyone.

    that is all.

Glad you mentioned it. I have been thinking of getting the Tony Robbins Series. I read that famous book by Dale Carnegie years ago ("How to win friends and Influence People") and wish I remembered more of it.

I am glad you are finding hope. I was going to write wondering how you were doing when I got home from work. I see that you beat me to it!

    Thanks for the book reference.

I'll have to check it out! Keep reading it! You know...you'll get only what you need at each time you need it. Keep re-reading this book and you'll find stuff you "never" read the other times.

Hope you are having a good day!!

    Hugs,

    Hi Topaz,

Hope you're feeling a little better.

Keep reading. Find strength where you can. Whether it's in books, friends, family, whatever.

I know it probably sounds strange, but before you can make things better, you have to get yourself to a place where you feel strong enough to overcome the inertia.

There, a whole post with nothing silly, stupid, sarcastic, or cynical. Bet you didn't think I could do it!
"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

You can't quit this life, Topaz. There are others on this board (and likely silent ones) who read your posts and relate your trials and tribulations to their own. If you strive forward, they will, too. If you choose to quit, then there is a risk that they will as well. That does not make their decisions your responsibility...but it does mean that you are not alone in the journey.

EDIT: Can we all hold hands now and sing KUMBAYA???

what i choose to do is just that, my choice, and i won't accept blame for the choices of others.

you say i'm not alone. i'm surrounded by people that don't give a shit about me (irl), family members are hundreds of miles away, and i have no friends. so as i see it i'm very much alone.

Good to hear that your interested in the book. Sometimes books have a way of helping you through your times of rough-ness because you'll get positive ideas which you can apply to your daily life. Venus mentions a good point...sometimes you'll re-read things you didnt think you read before which will help you during another time.
    Good luck and stay strong.

I have sooo been there. Usually when I'm going thru a chaotic part of my life... this happened to me shortly after I quit my long time club (Players) and didn't know where to go next.. so I travelled around for a bit still unsure.. then worked in a depressing club environment here on the Coast (stay away from Bad Girls! )... and finally have found my strength thanks to a 3 week stay in Rockhampton (where I made $$$!!!).

Change besides death and taxes is a sure thing in this life. It happens to all of us every day. We also always have choices even when we think we do not... you do have a choice: get up in the morning and count your blessings (positive) or get up in the morning and grumble about the world (negative).

I thought I, too, was surrounded by people who didn't really care about me... I still do in a way. I also feel like I am lonely and have no friends even tho there are, at least, 3 other people who I do call friends. I'm the "family secret" so I now have an uncomfortable relationship with my father and step-mum (my father knows what I do now and told me to NOT tell anyone... keep it a secret.. even from his wife who is my step mum!! :o ).

My life isn't a bed of roses yet I keep positive now because I am blessed. I don't have to pay as much tax as I thought I would.. so I have $$ to put towards my major goal next month - my USA trip. I found $500 odd dollars recently hence allieviating pressure on me having to work prior to Mt Isa on the Gold Coast here (I wasn't making anywhere near decent money working at Hooters ) ... I have a 10 year old cat (I bless each day that she is alive )... I have a computer that works and a decent laptop on the way...

I've got a decent future ahead of me if it goes according to plan somewhat.

We each have failures in our life... mistakes... they are only valuable if we learn from them. Cliche but so very true.

I often get confused by the "in real life" comment that many seem to latch onto. You have my sympathies for being surrounded by people who do not care, and family members who are far away. But as you can see, you do have support here, and you are not the only one (which is what I meant by "you're not alone".) And yes...these people do exist...in real life.

i think mojojojo has a great point here topaz...although we might not physically interact with you on a daily basis, people here do exist and care. if you're able, you'll just have to come to the next stripperfest . anyhow, glad you're finding some stuff in the books.
