I have a cute idea to do a set with the first song (two song set) being Hey Big Spender from the Chicago Soundtrack.....the DJ and I racked our brains last night and couldn't think of much to go with it....
any ideas??

"Fever" by Peggy Lee is very, very hot--and would work superbly with "Spender"

There is a version that Missy Elliott does with Tweet, has the chorus in the backround but she raps to it. It works great with the original hey big spender. My burlesque group did this number with a girl singing the original to me, dressed as a guy throwing lots of play $$$$ then cut to the Missy one and onther girl, more modern, chases the singer away amd dances for me. It was the best number we did in the show!
I found it on Winmx where I get my downloads.
This may be a bit late... BUT:
there is a version of Hey Big Spender by Shirley Massey... in techno! I really like dancing to it because it has so many good musical build-ups, and is a techno that has meaningful words and phrases.
Hey Big Spender is a fabulous stripper song.

Never explain yourself to anyone, because the person who likes you doesn't need it and the person that dislikes you won't believe it.
You could do Big Spender with Mein Heir- both of those dance numbers and songs were composed by Bob Fosse. Mein Heir is in the movie/musical Caberet. It's the dance number where the women are supposed to be prostitues and they are on chairs where they lift and stretch out their legs to the music. You could do some sexy moves on a chair for that number.

You can find both songs on her Greatest Hits CDOriginally Posted by Djoser link=board=7;threadid=11145;start=msg140018#msg140 018 date=1090209227
I: both these songs and have done sets to them - old Hollywood glam style with gloves , boa, stockings corset, the works ! It was hit in Atlanta. Go for it, you'll have a ball

How about the Madonna version of "Fever" off of Erotica? It has a techno beat and a good tempo for 2nd song. Plus, its recognizable, which customers like.

You should also check out "Fever" by Fever Express, which is one of my top five favorite techno tracks. I guarantee you if you like the Madonna version, you will love this! But you do need to start it about 50 seconds in, as like a lot of techno it builds up slowly. This would be another good track to use with younger crowds.
The Peggy Lee would work well in a gown-club type atmosphere with older rich guys, but the Madonna song would probably be better in a mid-range club, such as the ones I have mostly worked in, and in most situations would be the safer choice-especially if management required faster tempo music.
Also it would depend a lot on the dancer--I have found that the right dancer can pull off almost any kind of song she wants to, such as a couple of women I have worked with could do with Miles Davis.
If I played Miles for almost any others out of the thousand or so dancers I have worked with, I would have not only a very pissed off woman onstage, but a rioting audience and an irate manager telling me to pack up and get out!
Personally, my favorite thing to do is to get a crowd so riled up that you can play something they have never heard before--and they eat it up--but this can be risky and definitely requires a special dancer onstage. No doubt Miss Taylor could do it very well, as Tigerlily seems to have done in Atlanta--I would love to have seen that!
And Leigh, Eartha Kitt is superb! Do you like Billie Holiday too?

Ya'll kick ass!! Now I just have to get the nerve up to do this.....my club isn't exactly known for creativity. Katrine can vouch for that!
Yup! But trust me Taylor, Austin is MUCH more liberal with music than Houston. But doesn't everyone love listening to Nickelback and Beyonce all night?? LOL
