    Default Hair Advice Needed

I decided to give dancing a whirl, I have a few outfits, some common sense and a body that treats me pretty well.

The only problem is my hair. Its a incredibly thin/fine and a dull brown from blow drying. Plus it curls in funny places when I get even slightly sweaty or the air is humid. Pretty much it does not flatter me at all.

Does anyone know any products that will make it stay shiny, full and calm even through dancing?

If I can't find anything, I might buy a wig but I'm afraid of heat stroke. Every one I try on seems to be incredibly hot..

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks, Roxie

Off the top 'o my head...ha ha. Seriously, the only thickener I've used, (exp. @ 20.00 a bottle), but awesome, is Lazartique leave in hair thickener. They sell at Neiman Marcus, online do a search, there's a co. that sell beauty products I'm sure has it but can't remember name. I'm a major hair product feishist. If I come up w/anything else, I'll repost.

This is not my advice to y ou just my experience. I have hair just like yours a little sweat and forget it even when i blow dry it and flat iron it it sucks. it looks either really ugly to puffy, or wavy even after everything i did to it. I don't know why but one day i realized that coloring my hair jet black makes it look beautiful, shiny and very healthy looking, and it also stays when i style it. I can't go a shade lighter cause it'll look horrible. I don't know if you'd want to go jet black works for me. I love it!

I love the Control Freak line from Bed Head (TiGi). I've used the shampoo, conditioner and serum and it made my hair much more managable. Took all the frizziness and sudden curliness away after a few weeks.

i Have your same problem. I started getting extensions put in my hair to give it some thickness and length and i love them. Its a little expensive but a great investment.

Good Idea! Extensions ARE an investment, (Make sure to not go cheap 'cause the saying:"you get what you pay for" really applies here.) but very worthwhile for ANY hairtype. Gives you that sexy "glam" look

I was going to agree with Stripperella. When my hair was blonde, it was frazzled and curled in spots when the humidity rose.
I dyed it back to my original color (dark brown) and its always shiny and VERY healthy now.

Sometimes you can just dye it a shade darker than your own and get great results cause it will have make it shinier and add some weight.

I use Feria. I think its number 58 or 59. It has an asian girl on it. LOL
Its a beautiful brown, with some red in it, so my hair wouldnt turn green. But its great and the conditioner they give can last you a few washes and it makes your hair super soft.
    I love it.

edited to add "I" because it sounded as though I said, "use feria" (like pushing you to use it)
But its a pretty decent brand and works like a charm.

Before you start working, I would reccomend going to a professional stylist and getting a consultation. My hair used to be the same way, thin and dull brown but when I had it colored blond it was thicker and shinier. The color bonds to your hair and actually adds thickness. I would at least get an appointment and get a trim and a deep conditioning. That always makes hair look healthier.

Also, I like (& Much cheaper, around $5.00) Salon Naturals Henna Gold extra shine spray on conditioner. Found in health store. Has actual henna, protein, B5. Kinda has a "hairspray" effect too.

Clairol Herbal Essences Natural Volume Texturizing Shampoo is a very good one!!! and only $3.29
don't use a conditioner because it makes your hair to soft.

Towel your hair dry and then pull it up on the top of your head. Secure with a fat "elastic" (that won't damage or crease your hair ) and then blow dry the scalp hair until it is dry.

This will give you plenty of volume with little effort.

    good luck

A good fix for thin strands is to always have your hair coloured! This will fatten the dyed strand. Bleaching swells the strand, same effect, but much more damage if not done right.

Also a couple tricks, a few ladies here mentioned, buy shampoo for thin hair, and condition only the middle to ends! These shampoo's coat the shaft and actually make the strands fatter, but with a build-up after awhile. So use a clarifying shampoo once a month.

Also flip your hair after it is styled over your head, back comb easy and hair spray it from under. When you flip your head up you will have lots of volume. I see this in clubs alot. Volume while you are deciding what to do with your hair long term.

    Good luck,

    Pamela

I've heard and noticed the same thing about dying hair. It plumps it up and makes it shinier. If you do it at home be careful with permanent products you shouldn't re-dye your whole head with permanent color.

I use semi-permanent. This is a good option if you want to try a darker shade. Also, it's more gentle on your hair.

Are body perms still around? They were popular in the Eighties.
