    Default Am I too tall?

    Hi,
I have a question for you girls, and guys
I am 6" bare foot. I'm ALWAYS the tallest one in the crowd. So with those cool 4 inch heels I'll be 6'4. Is that too tall? I don't want to look like a circus freak, or knock myself out on one of those lights.
I'm going to tower over customers. Are customers going to be intimidated by my height? Dancing is something that I really want to do, but if I'm not gonna make any money because of my height, then what's the point?

My two favorite dancer friends are both 6' barefoot, but then again I'm 6'5" so maybe it's just mutual circus freak attraction..

From their perspective it either works for them or against them, and it totally depends on the customer. Shorter guys can go 50/50 either way depending on their nature- some are intimidated by their towering height, others find it oddly sexy in an almost domineering sense. So if you can learn to filter out those intimidated by your height, you can actually work it in your favor.

Lastly, even the more intimidated customers can be won over by just lowering yourself back down to earth in personality. Intimidation is a form of discomfort, so you can overly compensate in demeanor and personality to be less intimidating to them. A good sense of humor or light heartedness seems to work wonders when towering 5-8" over some shorter guy. This can help remove the discomfort and help land the sale.

    Good luck!
It doesn't matter if you're somebody in this world, it rather matters you mean the whole world to somebody.

Before this long legged beanstalk came to work at my club, I was the tallest girl there. Everyone raved about my long legs.......It was that feature that stuck out and set me apart from everyone else. And it made me ALOT of $$$$$.

Well about a month ago someone taller than me came along....6'1 on flat feet. Oh well..... we seem to be sharing some of the same regulars lately.

Being "different" in any way is awesome. Guys love long legs. As long as you have the right attitude and personality you can make money no matter what you look like...(well alomost).

Don't let being too tall discourage you. If you give it a chance you will see it will help you more than hurt you to be tall. Try wearing short platforms..... they will help you back, and help you to not hit your head on the lights.

NO never too tall.....I've seen some very tall women when I used to work and they were breathtaking...one of them was about 6 3 w/ shoes. Just stay confident say some nice things to yourself and dont let anyone say that you are too tall. I agree w/ the previous posts....guys love tall women. Good Luck

There's a flavor for every taste in this business.

The most important thing you need to remember is to walk around the club confidently, no slouching or looking self-conscious!

I'm only 5'4", but here's a great line if some douchebag makes a comment belating the obvious.

    Douchebag: "Wow, you're TALL!"

You: "Six feet tall and worth the climb!"

I can attribute this one to Bridgette, who I believe got it from B-Movie Amazon Julie Strain.
"She has written so well, and marvellously well, that I was completely ashamed of myself as a writer...But this girl, who is to my knowledge very unpleasant and we might even say a high-grade bitch, can write rings around all of us who consider ourselves as writers"

    Hi,
Thanx everybody! You all are so awesome, thanx for all your support! I think I'm going to wear 4 inch ones for the stage and then change into something shorter when I'm out on the floor. Taking my shoes off durring a private dance also crossed my mind. Could I do that w/o catching flack from the club?
And, no, unfortunately I'm not very flexible.
    Thanx everyone!!!!!!! :-)

I'm 5'11" and wear 6 inch heels. You'll have guys that are intimidated, guys that are excited to find a woman tall like them, guys that just like tall women, and some really short guys that worship tall goddesses.

The only thing when your tall is that a little extra weight that looks cute on a short girl just makes you look more "big."

WickedNYGirl - you know, just a thought...

Obviously you should do what ever makes you comfortable, but a SC might be one of the only places where guys might notice the shorter heal.

I say stick with at least the 4" even when you're working the floor and show off the long legs.

I may be speaking just for myself, but I usually notice when a dancer is wearing short heals and its usually a sign that she's a newbie.

(Anyone, please feel free to correct me if I'm way off base here.)

Hmmm, didn't think of that. Although I am a newbie!
I was just thinking that it might be less intimidating for the guys. But then again, they're going to be intimidated regardless wether I'm 6'4 or 6'2. I do like those pretty 6 inch clear shoes! ;-)

I don't think so, some guys love it, there was this german chick she was like 6'1 all she would do was approach a guy and go "PRIVATE DANCE" ! guys would somehow be like hypnotised by her and just follow her, she made a ton of money, lol! ANyway i envy you tall girls you have legs to die for.
I'm here to make money. NOT make friends, if I make a friend then it's a bonus.

I'd rather be absolutely ridiculous that absolutely boring

i'm 6' tall without my heels, and if during a show "private shows" the heels do seem to be a problem i do barefoot, that also allows for more movement, and flexability, and "tricks" especially if your fairly new to the business

I'm six foot tall too, and it seems that most guys love tall women. Everyone always says "wow, you're so tall". Guys are intrigued by women that are uniquely beautiful. Short guys especially love tall women!

One last observation on this topic....

I would say height is generally skewed in SCs. I'm 5'9" and practically every dancer I meet in SCs is taller than me (a 5'5" girl in 5" heals walks around at 5'10"). Only the really short girls are still eye level with me or shorter. I've just come to expect that most of the dancers will be (or at least appear) taller than me and not nearlly as intimidated by height in a SC as I might be in some other setting.

    --------------------------------------------

One last note: Tall girls sometimes feel awkward about their height and then compensate by slouching. Please try not to do this. I say, sit up strait. You'll appear more confident in yourself and that in itself is sexy.

Thanx everybody!!! Allright, so now I'm going to go into that club with my head help high, shoulders back, and a big smile from ear to ear. I think confidence counts for a lot, it's just that somedays it seems like it's nowhere to be found. I love this site so much, everybody is always so helpful, and has great advice. Thanx A LOT, I really appreciate it!!! :-)

im 5'10" and when i danced, i was the tallest girl on my shift every time, guys loved my legs and always told me i had the supermodel thing going on. I was worried at first because some guys would just look up at me and shudder and say no. After that though, i did end up with lots of loyal customers who loved my tall slinky good looks. Tall is beautiful, if ya got it, flaunt it! Love ya baby and good luck!

I will say that a taller woman makes me feel like I'm nine years old again, when I first saw a Playboy magazine. I thought, "Wow, she's so big! And she's so much older than me--she's 20!" So in that respect, tall is very good, and personally though I'm only 5'10", I've always felt a better "fit" with women closer to my height.

    Tall is good.

    Short is good.

But most importantly, beautiful women are good. Always.

There you go ... that is like 99% of what makes the difference between so many beautiful women and the exceptionally beautiful women - attitude.
