Hmm...never tried correlating the amount of bronzer on my clothes the next morning with the amount of money I've spent, but perhaps a study is in order...excellent question.

I see too many girls at work with 5 layers of cheap make-up on and i make more money than them and i do the basics, that's it. I hate fake ponytails too.![]()

A good self tanner is what you need. Guys don't like heavy 1981 makeup.

I made a ton of money a few weeks ago when my hair was not as straight as usual and I had minimal makeup. I literally looked I had rolled out of bed, or had a nice roll in the sack. (neither was the case)
But sometimes with all the hot makeup, I do well, too.
It really does depend on my mood.

I usually do better when I have a full face of makeup on, but one time I mad major bank with no makeup whatsoever and my hair wasn't finished. I think I make more money with makeup on because it plays a huge part of my "getting into character". I feel too much like "Alex" and not enough like "Angel" fresh-faced and it annoys me.

I think ALL girls would make more money with glamourous type make-up on their face..whether it's applied heavily or not.
Kevin Aucoin (sp?) had a great book out a while ago that was all about how different make-up looks = certain personas. As long as someone has a definite "look" that they are going for when they apply the make-up, I think they will probably make more money. After all, if most guys wanted to see women with no make-up on and without their hair done, they'd probably just stay home and look at the wife.
I just think that as entertainers, most of us would make more money if we applied our make-up WELL (and I'm not talking about putting on that drugstore make-up that creases, runs, and usually looks as cheap as it is) as opposed to just throwing any old thing on our face and looking like we were gonna go to the grocery store or to go pick up the kids.
MAC make-up counters have great instructors, and the book I mentioned above has some great techniques and some absolutely fabulous looks. I believe the name of the book is "Making Faces".

Well.. I never have been one of those females who were "into" make-up. That's the tomboy in me.. after 2 and half years dancing.. I still have no clue with make-up so I stick to the basics:
Foundation, eye shadow, lipstick. My eye shadow is as dark as I can make it but looks light in the "darkness" of the club. If I feel up to it I will add mascara (I have naturally thick eye lashes anyway) and/or blush.
I don't have the confidence nor ability to use eye liner.
Granted, one time, I did put alot of make up on.. and I felt so not myself .. I didn't like it one bit.
In the end.. no.. natural (in club lights) is best for me.

Now the way I look at work it completely different than not.At work I look like a high maintainence,expensive,high-end woman. When I'm not at work,I look like a high maintainence,expensive,high-end teenager.Basically what I'm saying is I look 16 with no makeup. My husband prefers the natural version, although he doesn't mind my augmented DD's.

When I started dancing and for a couple years I spent forever trying to get my face and hair to look perfect. Now I walk into the dressing room with 15 minutes to get ready, just brush my hair, natural looking minimal makeup and a little lipstick. I'm good to go. I do seem to make more money now. I made the switch from glam to natural about 6 months ago. For me at least, I'm glad I made the change. I'm also one of the girl next door types, no tats, piercings or augmentation. Minimal makeup probably looks best for me. Each woman will have her own ways to apply makeup that will highlight her features and "look."

For me, less is better. Even in a dark club. I see far too many ladies with way too much make-up on. It's kinda funny because it does not look too bad from a distance, but when you meet up in the bathroom.....WHOA.

I always get complimented for my "natural" look, and guys are always telling me that they love how I don't wear much make up. I smile and go along with it but the truth is... if ya can't see my freckles (and you can't) it ain't natural!
Lena

LoL @Lena
Personally I just think that as long as you look well kept and have a pleasant personality, you will always appeal to somebody at the club. There are so many different guys and each is looking for a different thing so if you have the basics together you should make money no matter how much makeup you have on.

Same here, Lena, and guys always tell me I have sexy eyes when I wear my eye makeup a certain way. I agree that makeup should be applied properly. Absolutely no makeup is not really a good look for 99% of dancers, and neither is heavy makeup that looks it.
Ya i'm not into make-up all like that. I concentrate on switching up my outfits and accessories more than caked on make-up.![]()

Men say they don't like make-up and they like the girl next door look but they also think Britney and porn stars, Playboy models are really hot and they all wear alot of make-up.

i do better with less make-up. guys seem to like me more when i look "natural".
I do the playboy make up (smokey eyes) and curly hair( i never wear my hair curly only when working). That is what works for me. I noticed I never make money when my hair is straight or slightly curled on the end. When I don't wear make-up I look very young..we're talking barely legal.

I always wear makeup....never really did that natural thing @ work. I think I will experiment a bit.

make-up to me would be fun to do on runway models, not strippers. you have to wear make-up at the club, but you have to know how to apply it.

I prefer to have my eyes done up, but I have noticed lately that if i just get done giving a LD and don't have time to freshen up b4 I have to go on stage I get just as many compliments, and even get more people approaching me (yeah it's crazy I know) for dances. I think I look more approachable with less makeup on.
I use a lot of MAC products.... it wears well, and doesn't wash off on customers clothes.
whose make-up really wears off on customers anyway? no one's hould otherwise your doing more than a dance.
mac is okay, christian dior, nars and beneifit are my favorite. i'm liking smash box as well.![]()

I look best with very strategically placed makeup in colors that are flattering to my skin tone. I don't cake it on, but it is very apparent. In order for the outfit to be more effective, you have to coordinate the makeup.
EXPERTS can do fabulous things with dark pigments, but I am not at that caliber yet. So I will stick to subtlety.

Kevyn Aucoin is an amazing makeup artist..... and making faces is a GREAT book! i first had his first book " The Art of Makeup" when i was 14 lol. If you want to learn how to apply makeup correctly or want to find different looks i would advise checking out his books.Originally Posted by Brittany link=board=9;threadid=11237;start=msg141749#msg141 749 date=1090462684
Btw you can wear a face full of make up... ie. foundation, concealer, transculent powder, bronzer, eyeshadows, blusher, lip stain etc. and STILL have a natural look.....eg. Halle Berry, j-lo.
edited to add* i also agree with brittany that MAC have some great instructors.

Make-up can be crazy fun no doubt, just not on my face.![]()
