Default Is it common to kick Amateur Night contestants out after they're done?

Up until this past Tuesday night I had never been to an amateur night. One of my favorite dancers has been thinking about changing clubs and asked me if I would accompany her to an amateur night at a place she's considering.

Everything seemed well and good, she placed 2nd and won $100 for 4 min worth of dancing. After the contest she asked me if I would order her a soda while she changed back into street clothes, which of course I did. When she reappeared with the rest of the amateurs the club's bouncers told them that they had to leave immediately and were not even allowed to have a drink. WTF?!?

    Is this common?

the club arguement is that they don't want the amatures[which are considered fresh meat by the men] to take away from the girls that are working. we offer the winnerss ajob at my club , then tell them they have to leave if there not interested. it sucks , but i can understand there point of view.

That's weird. Maybe they have a policy against letting girls hang out there if they're not working?

See, that's what made it kind of odd. There were other female customers in the crowd, who are always welcome with a male escort. The dancer I went with had been there before as a customer to scout the place out and see if she liked it before deciding to do an amateur night. Neither one of us really expected to get the boot like that. We just figured once she was back in her street clothes she would be a customer like any of the other ladies there that night, and we would get to hang out of little bit. Oh well.

BTW - she was offered a job, and asked her to come back in the next morning to fill out some paperwork.

Sounds like they knew the rules of the game.

I have heard of "non-amateur" dancers scouting out customers to follow them back to their regular place of work. Kicking the amateur contest dancers out after the contest if they won't be working there sounds like they are just "protecting what's theirs" so to speak.

I guess that makes sense. I've never made, caused or had any problems before so, I guess I was thrown off balance since it was the first time I felt unwelcomed there. Oh well, I'll know what to expect should the situation ever arise again.

"regular place of work" could also be a motel room or back seat of the car. I say that only because I've witnessed hookers posing as customers (who didn't work as house dancers) lure guys out of the club.

But I've never seen or heard of amateur night girls forced to leave after the contest. Especially if there are already female patrons in the club.

seems kind of harsh to not even be allowed to stay in the club for 5-10 extra minutes to order and finish a drink to me.

At one of my old clubs, after an audition, if a girl wasn't going to start work that night, she was asked to leave. I believe it was already mentioned, but in a lot of areas, prostitution is rampant, and any women just hanging out in a club (without a group of people, or male escort) would give off that kind of vibe.

I do think it was really harsh that they didn't let you finish your drink though.

Even though I have been dancing for ten years,I did an "Amateur Night" once for sh*ts and giggles. The manager offered me a job after and invited me to stay after to tour the club and see if I would like working there. This club is cool like that.

At my club you can stay to work that night if they offer you a job and a few times I have seen the girls hang out and stay for a bit, but they are nearly always with a friend or several people.

The problem of hookers trying to pick guys up in my club isn't really an issue; it's more the streetwalkers milling around when the club closes that are more worrisome.
