    Default Size 6 but....

Hey all, I've been thinking about stripping for awhile and I've been to this board here and there in the past few months.
My one drawback (next to just being nervous! - which I can easily get over) is my weight and build. I am a size 6 however I am only 5'3. I carry some fat in my waist and legs and it just sucks because I KNOW I could get rid of it if I only knew how. I want to be a stripper but I don't want to do it until I feel confidence and this lies in shaping up.
My biggest thing is WHAT THE HELL TO EAT. I am at a loss here. I've already got a weight lifting routine and I can do cardio, but the eating thing is just terrible. Please, please please if someone could give me at least SOME insight on this I would be so appreciative. You can PM or post it here. Thanks so much.

    hehe there ya go...

Why dont you give us some more info... like what you eat on a daily basis? Do you eat a lot of junk? Do you only eat once a day?

I know that when I was heavier, I was eating once a day and it was mostly junk. I would eat fast food, or I would eat my grandmother's home cooked food. (soooo good yet so bad )

So you are 5'3 and a size 6. How much do you weigh?

ehh what the hell...im not doing anything. Im gonna respond long. Hope you dont mind!

If I remember correctly, they say that eating is 60% of your overall success and working out is 40%. Working out and doing cardio are great for you as you already know, but if you eat something bad afterwards it will only hinder your progress. You should drink a lot of water throughout the day to help keep you hydrated (before, during, and after working out) and during the day you should drink ice cold water to help your metabolism speed up. (By drinking ice cold water, your body tries to heat it up, thus burning calories)

Cardio is good to do. I always say that doing it on "Fat Burn" mode is the best. It keeps your target heart rate at a constant level and burns fat better than doing the machines on "Cardio" which up your heart rate too much sometimes causing you to burn muscle instead of fat.
(im sorry to all the others who know how redundant I sound right about now )

But I mentioned this before....ever see skinny/fat girls? The girls who are thin but are loaded with cellulite, or just flabby, but thin? Thats because they dont have enough muscle, or have burned some of it. This is where working out with weights comes into play.

Remember, that lifting heavy is NOT going to make you look like Chyna from WWE. We women do not have enough testosterone to become built like males unless we use things like anabolic steroids. Sooo, lift as heavy as you can (preferably to where 10-15 reps hurts nicely, but that you can do it in sets of 4) This will help you cut your muscle, and develop it nice.
Weights are good 3-5 days a week, with cardio the same.

Also, let us know what you eat so we can see what the problem is. You sound like me.... I gain weight in my waist and my thighs is I eat too much junk. (And its usually sugars like complex carbs. (candy, white sugar, etc) Instead, its better to eat simple carbs... (like cauliflower, lettuce,) etc

Anyway, sorry to bore ya... but im bored myself and dont mind helping out. lol

As always, I suggest reading the book "Body-For-Life". I follow this program and I also use the "Eating-For-Life" cookbook as well. Helps plan out meals for each day of the week. They're great!!

I also do Yoga and Pilates...not only are they superior at toning and stretching, but great at helping your relax.

Hey bleachblonde! First of all, remember that everyone has different taste. Confidence and a genuine smile can get you miles in the sexy department! Lexi is right, it would be helpful to know a little more info about your current eating habits and then take off from there. She is also giving great advice about being sure you add weight lifting in your routine with cardio as well, but it sounds like you know that, too, so you are a step ahead already. The biggest problem I find with women is that they don't eat enough! Think of it this way; if you eat only once or twice a day your body doesn't know if you are in a blizzard or on a deserted island. It will go into crisis mode and hang on for dear life to any calories it can. On the other hand if you are constantly feeding it, it feels free to utilize all the calories to the max efficiency and excrete things it doesn't need. Unfortnately, however, all the calories have to be broken up into 5 or 6 meals a day, or a traffic jam occurs and it starts storing again.

Try to eat 5 or 6 small meals all consisting of protein and carbs. Add a fruit and/or vegetable with every other meal. This will keep your blood sugar level consistent and ward off cravings or energy crashes. Ex:
    Meal 1, 8:00 am: 2 egg whites, 1 yolk
    2 pieces wheat toast
    1 apple
    Meal 2, 11:00am: 3 oz chkn breast
    1 cup brown rice
    Meal 3, 2:00pm: 3 oz tuna
    stone ground wheat crackers
    tomato slices or carrot sticks

So on and so forth until meal 6. As Venus suggested, the Body for Life is a great easy to follow guide with yummy recipes. If you want to do some reading on how the body processes food and how to bring your metabolism back to max efficiency, as well as get some great eating plans, try the Schwarbein books.

Try to stay clear of refined flours and sugars whenever you can resist. Very importantly, increase your water! If you go for a couple hours a day without going potty, your not getting enough. At the very least, 8 to 10 cups a day.

Anyway, sory to be so long, but I hope some of it is helpful!

I think we all stress to much about this!
Strippers aren't perfect, you would be suprised at how much the lights can hide..
Besides that you should be comfortable with who you are... the biggest money makers I have come across aren't always the most attractive.
You are a size 6 already! Goodness do you really need to lose anymore weight? If it is a toning thing you will find that walking around in stilletos all night will tone you up pretty quick.
Sorry to be a party pooper I just wish us ladies could learn to love or bodies they way they are instead of always fighting against them!

Its not that we hate ourselves. I know that I love my body when its in tip top shape and the confidence I have exudes through. However, when I gain 5 lbs (this is totally noticeable on me since I am only 5'2-5'3) I start to feel bad about it.
So I just work out and tune up my eating habits. It works like a charm.

Amber marie also gives great advice about the body not knowing what to do with only a limited amount of food. When the body holds onto the food, it hold onto every single calorie (because it doesnt know when it will get its next meal)

So eat constantly, but good things. Snack on veggies, eat some protein, good carbs, and lots of water. This will help a lot.

Another thing, krys, I dont like to only rely on the lights. I would hate to look smokin at work, yet crappy outside of it. God knows, I totally bumped into a few customers outside of work, and was glad that I looked good. I just feel that if a person works out and eats well, they will do their body a favor, as well as their mind.

Well, I'm 5'2" and a size 5/6 as well. When I decided to start dancing, I started a pretty vigorous workout regimen (cardio 4-5 days/wk, strength training/pilates 2 times/wk) and started eating less junk. I just try to make it a habit. I lost about 1.5 inches from my waist, but I can tell it isn't going to get any smaller than it is now without my obsessing about it, which I'm not going to do. So just do what you can, take care of yourself, and whatever you do, don't obsess about your body! That causes so many more problems than it solves.

Wow guys thank you so much! You guys have really helped me realize some of the things that seem the most OBVIOUS lol...
My problem is the sugar, the candy, cakes, sweets. I also am unsure of what to buy to eat, how long to work out. I'm thinking pilates would be the best way to go because I am short and like, ANY weight that I put on is so obvious because of that fact.
Do you guys suggest going once or twice to the gym in a day?
What do you typically eat? What should I stay away from? (besides the sweets and stuff)

Thanks again! So so so so so much!

    Bleachblonde,
How is it going so far? I think that pilates is an awesome exercise for the core, where it sounds like you gain weight. It is also great if you do it at a gym because its harder to walk out of a class than it is to turn off a video!

As far as how often to work out, stength training should only be done 3 or 4 times a week, depending on how hard you work out. You can do cardio everyday, but do less on your stength training days. It is important to not overtrain because you will not see gains if you don't get enough rest. Working out is the stimulus, but the body actually gains results while you are resting. Remember, dancing in heels is a workout in itself, so pay attenion to how your body feels, and learn when you have pushed too much. It is a learning process just like everything else.

I hate to sound blunt, but in all reality we know what we should and should not eat. When you put something to your mouth, decide if you want temporary satisfaction or long term satisfaction. Its up to you to make that decision. Pack snacks with you like raw, unsalted nuts, canned tuna, carrot sticks, fruits, wheat crackers with peanut butter, etc. Dry foods that won't spoil easily, don't need much preparation, and can be easily stored. Depending on what hours you are working and the club facilities, ask if there is a place you can store food in a refrigerator, because then you can incorporate things like cottage cheese also.

Hope this helps a little! Good Luck

Yeah I agree Lexi.... guess I was having a bad day... lol
I am a shortie too and can relate to the 5lbs makes a difference thing. And also the looking good out of work....
I used to worry about it all in an unhealthy way but realise that there can be a positive edge to looking after yourself in a non obsessive way.

Like you said beachblonde its all common sense really. Eat as natural and as close to nature as you can, be active (take stairs instead of lift, walk instead of drive etc) look after you mind aswell and most importantly smile

Sorry if someone else already mentioned it, but I didnt read all the responses yet.

I wouldnt go to the gym twice a day only because it takes out much more time from your day, but it may get boring and you may lose the "drive" to go.
I think that by motivating yourself to go once a day and fully concentrating on your workout/cardio, ou will do fine. Plus you wont be like, "damn I gotta come back here in a few hours"

Once a day, with a full, dedicated routine will reap ya great results.

    Beachblonde,

congrats on your work so far. you mention that you like sweets and stuff, and you probably know this is a major diet killer. there are things out there that can give you the "fix" you want without the unwanted calories/carbs. sugar free products aren't neccessarily great (depends on the artificial sweetener used). the best thing would probably be to find some good fruit. for chocolate cravings, try a Z-carb bar (high in fat, but low in carbs..no sugar).

for me the following recipe is delicious.

*1 cup Carb Countdown chocolate milk (100 cal, 2 carbs, 3g fat)

    * 1/2 scoop of Ketogenics protein pudding mix (60 cal, 1 carb, 1g fat, whole ton of protein)

    *fruit of your choice
    *lots of ice
    Blend in blender....

It's a great summer smoothie that tastes like chocolate fruity mousse.

Wow Dewdrop! I tried your recipe with a different protein powder and some strawberries and banana. It was sooo good! Great dessert snack. Going to recommend it to some of my clients. Thanks.

hey guys! everything is going great so far. my pilates dvd's should be in my next tuesday. i've been watching what im eating and i feel a little better. LEXI, you are right about going twice a day. i've been going once a day and doing cardio for about 40 min to start out. (on fat burn ) bloodydewdrop, i'm going to try your recipe this afternoon! i'll let you know how it goes.

in case you are wondering i weigh around 135, but most of it's muscle (i was a competitive cheerleader/gymnast up until last year, i know cheer at my college) the fat i carry just really sucks because i'm short and it shows a lot sooner and stuff.

i seem to be doing pretty well on eating, but i'm also going to try what ambermarie has down here. (thanks :-) ) i'll let you guys know, and do you guys mind if i pm you guys sometime? just to ask questions?

Good for you beachblonde! Isnt it funny, while you are doing the cardio for 40 minutes, you just want it to end and get out? LOL Sometimes I will do cardio 40-45 min and I want to get out so bad, but I do my weights after so I dont have to come back.
Glad you are doing it on fat burn. You will be a little slower than on cardio, but you will be burning fat instead of muscle.

And I hear ya on being short. 5 lbs on me looks like 10. So I have to maintain.
Good job, and good luck with your future progress.

I always love to hear how people are progressing, so I'd love it if you wanted to PM me for anything. I think that you will start seeing results right away, though, if you're sticking to your gym routine and watching what you eat. Sounds like you're doing awesome so far. Just keep the motivation pumping! I think you'll really like the pilates for the midsection, too. Good Luck and keep us posted!

Its sooo hard to not eat crappy foods. Im a 3/4 sometimes even a 2, but I still have nasty flab I need to get rid of. I just crave bad foods. Ive cut back on how much I eat now, I weigh about 115, but if only I could eat better. What a hard habit to break...
