    Default Hooters- Regional Differences?

Don't laugh, I'm considering working at Hooters, but I was told some are better than others, $$$-wise. I also find it bizarre there's a Hooter's in Bismark, North Dakota, but not Modesto or Fresno, California. WTF?

I was also thinking of working there madmax. Waiting for fall. Not sure about diferences. It does seem odd, that there isn't one in CA areas you mentioned. Perhaps if you went on their site?

I just met a girl who said she banked at the Pittsburgh, PA Hooter's and she wasn't even the "ideal" looking Hooters girl. But she also pointed out that some are better than others. I always assumed the waitresses had to put up with mad harrassment, but apparently, that's not the case. Anyone who used to work there is welcome to comment.

    Hey girls,

I worked at Hooters for a while 2 years ago. I have to say, it is just like a regular restaurant (except the clothes)

It is a fun environment, and you can make some money. It doesnt compare to stripping but sometimes it can. I had a morning once, when I was a new girl... monday, raining, shitty section.... and these two guys came in. SUPER cool guys. They were pilots, and they left me a $200 tip (and their tab was only $34)
    They rocked.

Theres not much harassment. Atleast I didnt get much of it, but there are a LOT of youn kids who go and think they are cool... just like in SCs.

But I think you should go for it. Hit an area that is very populated. The one I worked in was in the middle of a highway. Major traffic. (pun intended)

    Good luck

The Hooters I go to (Monday lunch is like tradition with the boys) has a VERY wide variety of girls. I don't think any of them would fall into the typical Hooter's girl category.

I've been thinking of applying there too, so let us know how things went!

The closest one to me is about an hour away, but not in a very good part of town. I'm going back to Washington more than likely sometime next year and i'm gonna check the Hooters out there.

I think there is a Hooters in Fresno, by the river park shopping area north of town. If you're north of Modesto, there's one opening up this fall in Sac.

There's a Hooters near where I live. Most of the waitresses there don't look like the stereotypical Hooters girl, i.e. blond hair, big boobs. Actually, most of the girls there are rather small-chested. They have some average-looking girls and some cute girls, but I've never seen any who were drop dead gorgeous.

I know a girl who worked there briefly, and she said that the money wasn't much better than waitressing at a regular restaurant. At this particular Hooters, they are overstaffed with waitresses and most girls only get 2 or 3 tables at a time, so it's hard to make good money. Plus a lot of guys around here don't tip any better at Hooters than they would tip at a normal restaurant. I'm sure the money is better at other Hooters across the country, though.

I found out about the Hooters in Fresno, it's been open for 3 months, and there was a stabbing in the bathroom. I hesitate to apply, because I heard management overstaffed (taking a cue from strip club managers, huh?) and Fresno is a conservative/ghetto town. Probably not good tips. Sac could be better. I plan on going to the Fresno one as a customer this week, I'll post with my review.

I'm goin' to apply this week, (maybe tomorrow, they only take app. M - Th 2 - 5 pm). Saw an ad in my local paper for Hooters, in Vernon Hills, IL. It's by a mall, couple strip malls too. Also a sports restaurant/bar, Champs, too I might try.

I worked at the Hooters in Hawaii and it was always pretty busy. One thing I've heard is that at some of the hooters the girls only get paid $2 an hour. Minimum wage in hawaii is $6.25 and they paid us $6 and hour. From my understanding that's one of the highest amounts for the hooters company. My only problem was that they told me I had to choose stripping or hooters. I chose hooters but the manager I told about the stripping told me how bad it was and then eventually leaked it out to the girls which didn't gain me any popularity. Good luck on getting a job there! Try and find out what type of customers go to the one you are applying at. In Hawaii we'd get a lot of Japanese customers - especially during the day shifts. They don't really tip so the girls who worked the day time some times didn't make a lot of money.

I applied to a Hooters in S. Florida and they wouldn't hire me because I'm fair skin with black hair (bettie page style). Even though I have the natural perky 34Ds ...

There's a Hooters here in Seattle, and it's actually in a row with very nice restaurants on Lake Union down by all the yachts. I've had lunch there several times, and it's a pretty typical mix of lunch clients. Other than the outfits, you'd never guess it wasn't any other sit-down, fried-food-and-beer joint. Families, kids, working guys, etc. The waitresses were generally w-a-a-a-y away from being Playboy models. Anyone who's able to pull off stripping for a living could get a job in a Hooters. Seriously.

Well, I went there, & I'm far from a dog. Did NOT get the gig. Oh well. D doll sounds hot, too, so? My opinion, lots of people in a position to hire someone get off on turning someone down, for any reason & a power trip. (Have seen this @ Wall Mart too. The "prestige" of this place goes to some people's heads.

    aww.. thank you .. heh:

All the girls at the hooters I applied at ... looked about the same, tan with the same look. (with the exception of 2 black girls) Most had small boobs with little push-up bras and one with really bad implants. They weren't very attractive. So, I don't think they care if you have nice boobs or look good... they just want you to look like all the other girls. Maybe other hooters in different regions are different with this.. But in S. Florida by the beach, they want all the girls to look like they come from the beach. And I have a more exotic look--I've been told I look french or russian. I think its better to have different girls with different looks at these places as well as the SCs... oh well... I would have probably hated working there anyway.

I had a friend in Minnesota who was hired at a hooters there and they said before she started working there, that she had to change her hair, put different kind of makeup on, wear a specific water-bra, and put on self tanner everyday. (She already had a tan, at least as tan as everyone else up north!) She looked fine before, kinda like Sarah Michelle Geller (spelling?) from Buffy... but they wanted her to "fit in" with the other girls looks...

On their website they say that they try to hire the "girl-next-door" and "California surfer girl" types.

I guess I'm out too. No call backs for me, and I'm more than qualified to serve chicken parts.

That suks. O well, someone mentioned earlier that waitresses in a good place (or cocktail waitress) can make just as good or better $. This comment about changing self to look alike, reminds me, I was in a bikini contest, this girl she was a "sports dancer". She said they make you change your hair, look, etc., to "fit in" or be the look they want. I like my look, ty & don't care if someone else dosen't, for any reason. Also, I didn't like the fact they ask what year you grad. high school, (like, sneakily tryin' to find out how old you are, this is an old trick).

Hooters restaurants in the northeast, east coast, and in the south vary tremendously from one location to another. In some places, they try to stay true to the original Hooters idea. This results in hiring waitresses who actually fit the Hooters image, attracting customers who appreciate that image and who aren't afraid to tip, thus providing income levels that keeps girls who actually fit the Hooters image working there as waitresses !

But in lots of cases the business levels of that particular franchise or the neighborhood/culture in the area of that particular franchise result in that Hooters being just one more chain restaurant. In that case income potential is the same as any other chain restaurant, and usually worse than the best bars and restaurants, thus girls who fit the Hooters image don't stick around long and the franchise is stuck hiring girls who don't fit the image but who are good waitresses, dependable and "manageable" (i.e. willing to work for low pay without bitching constantly)

Has anyone worked as a Hooters flight attendant or known someone who has? I would imagine they are treated a little better.

bird's got it down! you can make a lot of money there( the one i worked at the girls averaged $100 a night) but there's that whole merchandise quota you have to keep up with, and the management is kinda unprofessional at times. i guess they must train them that way! and the whole "looking you over every day to make sure youre perfect or you get in trouble" is totally true too! i was told by amnagement that the corporate guys have them take pics of you every few months or yearly so they can all sit in a big room and show slides of the girls and give them thumbs up oor thumbs down, and i guess if you weren't pretty enough you got a thumbs down and you got fired. i cleaned my share of dishes with the cooks and cleaning guys and sometimes they didn't let some of us leave until the cooks finished cleaning the kitchen area and back, and then they made us clean it too, and gave the total white glove inspection. and every night before we close, on top of the stupid birthday songs we seem to had to sing every five minutes, we had to sing the closing song.
it wasn't the worst job in the world though, dairy queen is. hooters was ok and i liked working there basically just for the prestige of saying,"i'm a hooters girl." yeah, actually i think that was the ONLY reason i kept working there. but it was ok. i'd work there again.
oh, and if you do get a job there, the one thing you'll hear over and over is "be bubbly" or basically be a flirty ditz. if you don't like being forced to talk to people and be SUPER flirty and happy, don't work there. i don't know what their definition of "bubbly" was, but apparently it was different than mine.
    they call me tater salad.
