Default Does it matter how "BIG" your butt is?

Everyone my entire life has told me I have a "flat" butt and it hurts my feelings. I have tried squats and I have even had lipo 4 times in two years to take fat from else where to try and achieve a butt.
Now I do see some other dancers with "not so big butts" so what is the deal with that one?

Squats and lunges with weight are teh best thing i know for building up a round butt.

I dont think it really matters how big your butt is.

No it does not matter how big your butt is. I have danced with women who i mean had NO butt, turn sideways it was not there. They danced, they did fine with customers.

Like everything else about women, some men will love your butt and others may not so much.

I have a big ass, and always felt like "oh god it's gonna jiggle too much!! Then i got to the point of "screw it."

Some like it, some probably don't. I can't please all the guys!

PS like AinNY said want an ass do major squats. That was my problem with building a much rounder firmer ass, because i am part of a fitness center at work and did alot of them 4 days a week, not anymore.

I have to agree with Pamela and AinNY, some like 'em big, some don't. At any rate, I would lay off the lipo and do much more resistance training to see what shape your butt will take naturally when it's completely toned and firm. Once it's in great shape, you'll love showing it off to anyone, big or not!

To bulid muscle you need to drop some major weights.......... so you need to be squatting with heavier weights that will only allow you to perform 6-8 reps NO MORE. by the 6th rep you need to be feeling the burn to the point where you cant lift no more.... heavier weights, lower reps.

Wow, Ain, you certainly seem to know....your butt stuff. Cool.
Anyway, Daph, never let anyone's comments about your physical self, (or anything else for that matter) get to you. Easier said than done, I know. Usually people who say things like than are inseccure themselves, which I'm sure you know. Perfection is artificial, nature is asymetrical. I was insecure my self about sm. boobs, lot of guys told me they loved 'em. An ex, who teased me mercilessly about this, recently tried to get me back (no thanks) after 6 Years. Celebrate yourself, dear.

Yeah....Just from doing squats and lunges when i was working out....my ass got noticeably bigger/rounder. And I had no ass at all to start with....its a decent size now

Daphned....9% body fat? Thats crazy....are you eating properly? Thats really low for a woman. Some would even say its unhealthy. Do you work out a lot?

Dont give up on the squats and lunges....just use more weight.

I hope you arent saying 9% body fat to just "sound" like a stick. My body fat is at about 19% right now and I am healthy. 9% for a woman is dangerously low.

Hmm wow that is a very low percentage. But back to the ass, even if you hold (always start slow anyway) two 20lb hand weights and just squat down and up, you are working the muscle.

I used to hold one gallon of water in each hand, have on nice cushioned sneakers..bleh, and put my heels of my feet on a peice of wood, 2 by 4 i think, this adds more umph to the buttocks.

I found regular squats just do it for me know. The buttocks are the largest muscle in our bodies, and many variations work certain angles to help the muscles grow.

I say go get a book on working the glutes!

Eat more food for energy, and have fun!

    Good luck,

    Pamela

i'm pretty hyper about my weight and it did not start from this business. my fat % is low and I work to keep it that way. I just don't eat very much at all and when I do it's rice and veggies.

OMG! Somebody get this girl a roast chicken! Seriously. You need protien to build muscle. And veggies and rice aren't gonna cut it. If you said you were a runner or triathalete and had 9% body fat that might be about right. But, in that case you would already have developed gluteal muscles. You need to eat. At least pick up some protien shakes or something.

Foxee is right. Rice and veggies is a great diet....if you're a monk! You may not be able to develop a big butt if its not your genetics, but if you want a nice shapely, sexy firm butt you have got to do weights or squats and lunges. In order to build that muscle and have any chance of getting any bigger, you have to eat protein! Remember, you will be putting on muscle, not fat, so your fat % may not go up, but your muscle will. That aside, I think that everyone is right in saying 9% is very low. Don't be afraid of a few good fats! You don't have to become a meat eater, but follow Foxee's advice and grab some shakes or a bar or even some beans or peanut butter on wheat bread. Add a little bounce to that bootie!

hey daphned I have a flat butt too I always have. My body fat % is considerably more than yours I only point that out to say a plump ass doesn't really pop out because of higher body fat. It's pretty much genetic. Kinda like how I have a dimple on each ass cheek. Genetic. My ass is in the gallery also the butt picture thread if you'd like a look see. Basically, girls like you and I will simply never appeal to the "big butt guys." But that's ok because us little butt girls have our own following. One of the best excercise tapes I've found for rounding out my ass is the Buns of Steel. Outdated but extremely effective. No weights involved.

Maybe you should re-evaluate your costumes... certain types of thongs will be more flattering to your butt.
Most dancers I've seen that have flat butts look great in short cheerleader type skirts and go-go shorts also try tube dresses.
Eyeliner and charisma go a long way!

That is intersting that your body fat mass is only 9%. I am 5'2" and 107 lbs. yet my % is around 17%.

I guess it just genetics and I love my meat

    Cheers,

    Corey

PS. I have a relatively small butt, it bare measures 33in, but I guess it's pretty round. Far from ghetto fabulous, but OK w/me

speaking of thongs, I've found the low rise v-string (NOT the victoria secret kind, the stripper kind) to be the most flattering to my butt.

booty shorts should be the smallest cut possible to be flattering. basically, i've found anything that covers my entire ass is a no-no.

OK, True Story: My best friend (also a stripper) had was 5'4 and 95lbs. She had NO ass. Completely Flat and sagging really bad. Then she started exercising 4 days a week to a video called 8 minute buns. She now has the perfect ass!!! It's bigger, rounder, almost on her back, that's how much it lifted!!! Guys love her ass. Miracles do happen!! LOL. Mine was starting to look really bad, and I would look at hers and say OK, I'm really going to work on my butt - never did. I have been doing that video for 2 weeks now, plus lifing some weights. My butt & thighs look 100% better. It will be about another 6 weeks before you can bounce a basketball off my ass, but I'm on my way. I hate working out, but am loving it now that I am seeing results. I agree with the others, you need PROTEIN. If you are not eating enough, your body will attack your muscle. You could check on E-bay for a butt exercise video. Good luck.
