    Default Covers

I've noticed alot of girls dancing to covers. It's cool cause the songs are familiar but refreshing again. Like HIM's cover of Chris Isacc's wicked games or Snake River Conspiracies cover of lovesong. (note) not all covers are good. 311's cover of lovesong sucked. I really don't like 311. I mean they were a novelty act back in what ? 1995 ? white boys from nebraska singing to reggae beats. Now 311 is just annoying. I know, my neighbors blast 311 when they are getting high. For the love of god, get real reggae already.

Oh geez.. Someone did a remake to "Wicked Game"? Is NOTHING sacred? lol

I tend to hate remakes though. People normally end up slaughtering the original song. Like Kid Rock's cover of Bad Company's "Feel Like Making Love".. Ugh. That song is supposed to be mellow, not screamed through.

Covers work if the right ppl do them. Like Johnny Cash's (RIP) cover of NIN 'Hurt' , I would kill to listen to Gwen Steffani do Siouxsie & the Banshees cover. While I'm ranting, why don't more girls dance to The Cult ? or Concrete Blonde ? They rock! I guess I'm just an old fart with bad taste.

HOLY SHIT! You like Concrete Blond?! Fucking AWSOME! Not to sound morbid, but Tomorrow Wendy is one of my favorite songs! They were just in Boston recently but I found out a day late and a dollar short....

Lol, Rhi, I love Wicked Games and would say the same, but I absolutely love HIM. The cover really does the song justice. You should check it out.

Hottie I love concrete blonde too, I have casettes from HS of them. Speaking of covers they are doing a cover of Coldplays 'The Scientist' for the movie Wicker Park. They seem to do lots of things for soundtracks. Point break, Underworld, Pump up the volume, Barbwire, The Hidden. They have new CD too, Mohave. Did you like Group Therapy ? I'm bumping that in my car right now. Hey hardkandee have u heard HIM's cover of billy idol's rebel yell, its a live cover from a concert I think.

LOL Thanks, Hardkandee, I'll check it out.

I used to love Concrete Blond until my sister dated a guy named "Joey". Oy.. When they broke up, I heard that song playing over.. and over... and over... and over still... I finally took her cd out of the radio and smashed it to bits when she was out one day.. lol

Thats nothing. When I was in the service, a guy next to me in the barracks went on leave, his CD player had MC Hammer singing can't touch this playing for about a week. Then another time I was on a non-stop flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Cinncinatti. Some kid had an MC Hammer doll that you could pull his string, and he said . . . you guessed it "Cant touch this" . The kid was playing it over and over and over. I was hoping our plane would crash into the icey waters off the coast of Greenland, but with my bad luck, the kid, myself and MC hammer would survive and I'd be trapped on a life boat. DAMN YOU MC HAMMER ! lol oh yeah, the doll also said "Hammer time!"

I have the gwen stefani cover of heartbreaker. It's great. I downloaded it off soulseek - which by the way is the best source for finding music. You can find all kinds of rare stuff. B sides, live covers from concerts,ect...... so check it out.

Magdalena_666 , if you like covers you should check out The Covers Project. It's a large internet database of covers. It will help you find some cool music to dance to. I found a cool cover on NIN 'closer' by Rosetta Stone. It rocks.

The Cure did a really hot remake of Purple Haze. Sounds weird, I know, but it's a really cool song!

I love the CULT! They are one of my all time favorite bands! Penny wise has a bunch of covers...

I just recently (On my last night) danced to the Eagles Hotel california that was redone techno style..

Ace of Base redid Cruel Summer- its pretty cool
Revolting Cocks redid Rod Stewarts Do ya think I"m sexy.. I LOVE THAT
Murder Dolls- Billy Idol's White Wedding
Marilyn Manson and Nin redid Madonna's Like a Virgin (Ohmigawd, I get so turned on to this remake.. tis insanely hot)
Marilyn Manson redid soft cell's Tainted Love

Go and buy "not another teen movie" soundtrack... LOTS Of remakes on that CD... mostly 80's songs, but all really good.

one of my other favorite remakes is BIF NAKED's remake of Twisted SIster's "We're not gonna take it".. it rocks!

I love you gynger. (hugs another cult fan) They put on a great live show too. I've seen them in concert in Tucson, they rock. I'm suprised they aren't more popular. They don't get asked to do soundtracks for no reason. Buffy vampire slayer, Cool World, Gone in 60 seconds. Just like concrete blonde does alot of soundtrack stuff. Pump up the volume, Underworld, The hidden, point break, wicker park. ppl just don't know.

Bad taste??!! The Cult are arguably my favorite rock band of all time, unless you consider White/Rob Zombie rock.

Speaking of covers, I just was on another post but I will repeat it here again, Annie Lennox:

    "Take Me to the River"
    "Train in Vain"

There are so many excellent covers, along with some pretty bad ones (like that damned Kid Rock remake of "Feel Like Makin Love"), but off the top of my head, here are a couple of winners, though they are diametrically opposed...

Delerium doing Madonna's "Justify my Love"
    Genitorturers doing "I Touch Myself"

These should be kept separated at all costs--though I do pride myself on being able to pull off bizarre combinations, even I would cringe at combining them.

Later--here I was, all ready to go to bed at the unheard of (as in early) time of 5 AM, when I thought of one of the best covers out there! And this one would work very well indeed with the Genitorterers:

    Rammstein doing Depeche Mode's "Stripped"

That German guy sounds so depraved when he sings "Let me see you stripped..."!
You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star.
    Friedrich Nietzsche

Free your mind, and your ass will follow.

StardogChampion, there are some "under the milkyway" covers performed by some more obscure bands, George, Seven Nations, and Jimmy Little. I found a cover of "Here comes the rain again" by Eurythmics covered by The Cruxshadows. The music sorta sounds the same. It's a little more dancy, but u can tell its NOT annie lennox. Look up the Covers Project , it a good database of covers.
