    Default College Text Books

Hey Guys... I'm looking to try and buy some of my school textbooks online for the fall semester. I've already checked out half.com and amazon.com - and could only find one of my books. I was wondering if any of you knew of any other places that you might recommend to buy used college textsbooks.

(I found some smaller websites but wasn't sure of their dependability!)

    Thanks Everyone!

Thank you... I checked out the site and it seems like a great site... but it only has two of my books and they aren't used....so they aren't cheaper than my college bookstore :'(

Why do I have to be so cheap????

Listen, try some textbook websites that cater to Indian students. They use the same English language textbooks in India as we do here, same editions, and the prices are way cheaper. You might have to pay a bit for the shipping and the delivery may take a few weeks, but this was told to me by an Indian computer progammer working in the town I worked last (we went out to breakfast together.) He paid the equivalent of ten or fifteen bucks what you would pay in regular US dollars eighty to a hundred for at the college bookstore. I hope you will succeed in avoiding overcharges, because I f*cking hate that textbook racket!

Anytime I've tried to buy books offline, the books were cheaper but the shipping cost me more that the books! I hate buying books from the bookstore, but I have no other choice. At least this year they will be under $400!

Well tomorrow I'm gonna do somemore looking. Gonna check on ebay too... I listed my book for my summer class on there today and I've already sold it - for almost twice as much as the school was going to give me - Awesome!

Do you have a Half Price Books in your city? I always save some money buying books for school there. Of course, I'm an English major and most of what I have to buy are novels and anthologies. Though I did save about $30 on a chemistry textbook there.

Same for me too...until I made some friends that worked at the campus copy center and met some graphic design students, all of whom were very short on cash. We would pool our money together, and buy ONE copy of whatever book we needed, and then either photocopy multiple copies for our use, or scan them onto a zip disk and distribute them. It may not have been legal, but at the time for most of us it was either 1. buy an overpriced textbook or 2. buy food to eat. Most of us chose food everytime. There were no places to buy textbooks online yet, either.

I swear, alot of those textbook companies don't seem to take into account that college students are usually poor and on a budget. And most of the college professors have no idea how much the textbooks for their own classes cost--most of them get free copies from textbook companies for them to preview!

Have you ever thought of looking on eBay?You never know what some merchants might have.
