    Default SW Olympics commentary thread...

I am chomping at the bit for the Olympics! I love the summer games soooooo much, i like that it's about unity and countries being friends that usually can't stand each other. Look at those athletes and the way they all get along, even though their nations usually can't stand one another! How cool is that.

Here's a big GO USA! And a big GOOD LUCK to all the competition out there.

I can't wait for the Archery, and the decathalon competitions. I like the javelyn throw and the weightlifting stuff too. It starts this week, is anyone else excited?

I bought a book recently called the Naked Olympics, about the ancient Greek Olympic games (It's no secret that i am a fan of all things Ancient Greek), it rules. You know the wrestling matches were to the DEATH? Wow. Talk about a bigger reason to win than "winning one for the gipper."

Good luck to all the international Olympic fans SW members (But the USA will still kick ya ).

I used to love to watch the Olympics until the genuises at Network programming got their hands on it and decided to "improve" on it. They decided natural drama was not good enough and they would turn it into "personality programming". I have not watched since and have no plans to watch this one either.

And in wrestling it is "Win one for the Gripper".

Oh silly me, I saw the topic and thought that it was going to be about a "Stripperweb Olympics" competition.

With medals being handed out in the following events:

Pole Dancing (both syncronized and freestyle)
    Lap Dancing
    Floor Work
    Best Outift
    Drink Hustle
    Stage Show
    VIP Room
    Hustling Technique
    Money Management

Ideas for "extras" and "sugar daddying" competitions were proposed by a few but the SWOC voted them down. Now if only we had a cool logo.

As for the real Olympics, two words: Jennie Finch. k:

I would like to talk about the USA Basketball team and how horrible they are. Its really embarassing how they got beat by Italy....come on now...Im italian....we suck at basketball. They almost lost to Germany and Turkey. Where is the coaching? They cant score against a zone b/c they dont have one decent shooter on the team. They cant play defense....its just embarassing. They better step it up when the games really count.

What a truly novel idea! I think we should start a new thread for the Stripperweb Olympics!

hmm.. what are the rules? maybe a few:
    - 1 person is only allowed to enter into the competition for 3-5 categories?
    - Maximum of 3, 5, 10 per category? or no maximum?
    - provide a pic or story related to the category (could be copied and pasted from other threads?)
    - any others?

and I think you need to add a few for customer representation

The Olympics are a great opportunity for women to be able to drool over something besides other women

I agree. The coverage of the last few Olympics' have been awful beyond belief. Although technology on camera coverage has improved, the filming of events was terrible. I remember watching several events where the networks decided that rather cover the event itself, they would switch back and forth to four or five events all the time. I remember watching the finals in Archery (I used to shoot competatively) and right near the end, they switch to a different event. Then they show that for a few minutes then switch to a different event, and another and another. So instead of watching one event to completion, you got to watch five events go nowhere. It was lame. I used to love watching the Olympics, but if it's going to be like this, I'll just watch some Southpark reruns instead.

I also love the gymnastics, but get sad when I watch. I trained competitively for 5 years, then has to quit due to a bad wrist injury and my parents not being able to afford the training fees at the next level I was far from Olympic material, but I didn't have a chance to meet my full potential, I regret that.
I coached for 10 years as well, and I do miss it...
I actually just found an adult drop-in class at the local university, and I think I'm going to try it next week!

I'm aching to go to the Olympics in a foreign city someday! It's on my list of things to do before my demise.

I'm getting ready to watch some synchro springboard right now and I'm on the edge of my seat for gymnastics and high dive.

I'm a bit of a boxing fan also- my hubby used to fight competitively in college and over the years the sport has grown on me.
