    Default Winnipeg

: I am going to winnipeg in about a month to visit my best and only female friend. Any ladies out there that work in Winnipeg? Any clubs you would suggest? As an American citizen do I need a permit or something to work?

ok - heres the lowdown lol!

The city is split with two agencies working it - the longest agency running (25 or more yrs) Is Superb, as was mentioned Rick & Mitch, they can be reached at (204) 237 3320 (tell em Leigh said hi!)

The other agency is called Independant Artists but they dont have the scope of gigs that Superb has and if you work one? They will NOT take you on at the other.

You can get your work week by week, you call in Monday and they give you a schedule - depending upon your ability, your show price and costumes will ascertain the level and type of gig you get.

Primarily all show bars with a couple offering VIP dancing which is sort of just side stage dancing for a fee.

You may get a gig whereas all your shows are at one bar, with a couple "jams" as we call them meaning you are hired out at a couple other bars for one performance at a set time - these are usually run later in the week, thur fri & sat.

You can get 15 -20 up to 30 shows in a week if you want and again depending upon your ability and show price.

Working in Canada yes you will need a work visa - although some just slide on in and work on the side...saying they are from anywhere in Canada...and no one says anything? That may be a possibility here as there is no city license to apply for to dance its wide open - only needed would be you to provide identification to the agency to verify your age.
And maybe not even that if you dont look like your twelve and new!

You need costumes, you need a show. You dont have to perform broadway but some semblance of a performance is required, no strolling around slowly on the stage--- you need to dance.

Shows are 18 minutes in length (roughly) comprising of 3 songs fast and one slow for your "floor" show meaning its a slow song performed upon the stage floor with a blanket or comforter.

Full nudity - and by law there is no contact or audeince participation. Tips are minimal if non existant but remember you are getting PAID to do that show - so its a guaranteed cheque by weeks end.

As a feature; winnipeg was a bonus trip - we got our full feature week pay and 6 to 10 extra shows on the weekend made for a hellova paycheque....!!

But any showgirl can come away with a super check - the lower your showprice; the more gigs can afford you - meaning more show tallies by week's end - you'll be exhausted but the pay is great.

To get around you can hire a driver or the agency will send you one, its $7 per trip for an agency driver, this can add up and sometimes you work something on the side with a driver so you get a lower fare and he gets the cash without deductions from the agency - doesnt hurt to ask one and work something out!

Many of the "out of towners" stay downtown at the Balmoral Hotel, its a peeler mecca LOL, usually several floors relegated to dancers, its an older hotel with charachter but clean and a decent little coffee shop that will cook up special orders (only egg whites please for my omelette kind of thing) they are used to this and accommodate kindly.

Winnipeg is a great city and hot as hell in the summer, lots of stuff to do and some pretty crazy nightlife...

I hope you have a great trip and manage to get some work on the side!

    Cheers!
