    Default finding your own style

Hopefully I can get some helpful input on this question . Ive been dancing for 6 months twice a wk and still havent developed a style of my own. I really dont do the pole especially after i developed tendonitis in my shoulder . I have an idea that I saw another girl do at another club she was doing a lot of posing like she was a model and the crowd just loved her. I have a routine but I'm wanting to change it. Mine is basically a kinda open the legs on the knees I think you have the picture. It worked well at my old club but the new club i work at is more upscale. Can anyone give me tips on the poser thing? Has anybody ever seen anyone dance like that? Thanks

I've seen girls dance like that 'poser'. Very few can pull it off. It's kind of a floaty thing that they do and it works really well for those who can do it. If you can watch a girl who does that on somewhat of a continual basis, you could learn the 'technique', but I am of the opinion that this is more of a personal style thing than technique. Very feminine. If you watch a girl who dances like this for a while you'll notice all of her movements, on and off stage, are very floaty-feminine. The way she walks, talks, moves her hands, legs, feet, hips, head, everything.

You don't have to dance like this to make money. Men appreciate all types of sexiness and that is just one. Do some dancing at home in front of a large mirror - go out and buy a cheap full-size mirror at a discount store if you have to. Watch yourself and see what looks good and what doesn't. Do more of what looks good and less of what doesn't, then improve on that.

This is something you constantly keep learning, no matter how long you've been at it. Heck, I've been dancing 9 years and I STILL keep changing my styles and routines, and learning new stuff.

I'm not sure if this is what we're talking about- but what about old burlesque style dancing. I saw a video of a dancer walking around very dantily and gracefully in that style. She did posing when she took off her gloves and other clothes. She also danced with huged fans and posed with them. Maybe you could get a video of the movie Gypsy Rose Leigh for ideas.
