Ahem, so what do you do when it's "that time of the month"? Keep the g-string on? Or do you have another method? Like alternative "products"?

haha LMAO. ummm. usually, I either: don't go into work for a couple days 'til it tapers off enough so I can be sure I have control over it! Or I bring in a FULL box of tampons (OB silk's are great 'cause they're small and there's like 50 in a pack.) and change my tampon every 20 mins. to and hour. Depending on the flow. How do I make do with a tampon? Stuff it, string and all, as far up as possible, then have a friend do a "coochie check" to make sure that you can't see any part of it no matter what nasty explicit position yuo assume.![]()
IMO make sure to bring lots of baby wipes and feminine deoderant 'cause your kitty tends to stink a bit around that time of the month.

There's a little "ridge" right inside of you where the OB can go and never, EVER slip down... it's kinda hard to get the damn thing out at the end of the night (I actually cut OFF the string), but it's worth it.
Lots of luck to ya!

If you don't have any adverse reaction to it.. why not the injectible pill? DeproProvera (sp?) or something similiar... you get it injected once every 3 months and PRESTO! no period.
Since I have no adverse reaction to it whereas I do with the oral contraceptive pill... I've been on this for nearly 2 years.. and only once have I had my period due to waiting too long between shots (I can go 4 months max before I have to "start all over again").
Otherwise, insert a tampon... stuff it as much as possible.. and cut off the string.![]()

DEPO.. NO MORE "TIME OF THE MONTH" LOL
but i want off it now!
Depo sucks! I am happy you girls have had a good experience from it but too many people I know including my self have had bad problems with it.
But to answer your question, stuff the string or cut it/burn it off.
I never work on my 1st day. Way too messy and too painful. I go through about 12 tampons the 1st day alone. It's really bad.
Also use spray and baby wipes. And I also tend to wear darker colors at work during that time. If I do leak it's better to leak in black panties that white ones.
Kitana

Call in!!!!! I am too bitchy and emotional!!!!

About Depo... be careful! Lots of girls -- like ME -- gain weight that just WILL NOT come off. It sux.
I take the whole time of my period off. It only lasts three days, but I will go through about a tampon every 40 minutes for the first two days...and then just spotting the last day. There's no way I am going to try to beat the clock for the time I have my period. Screw that.
If you have a light flow...just go to work. The nice thing about your period is that your body naturally produces phermones...which attracts men to you...so you may increase your earning potential without even trying. I did make killer money the day before my period started...so you may want to try it and see how you feel.
Venus stole my thunder...I take off three or four days. I work at a topless club so it's not a huge deal. I worked at nude places before and I'd avoid dancing naked for a few days. Now I just play it by pad I mean ear.![]()

something's bad about to happen 'cause i'm feelin so damn good - nickelback
Stick your string in or cut it. You can't work if your bleeding bad.
I know this thread is way old, but I just had to say - Yes there are alternatives to tampons.
Ever heard of moon cups, diva cups? I'd suggest a google search.![]()
Personally I use . You can watch a video on how to use them .
I got mine at Target. They're prob available elsewhere too.
Pros: They are disposable. They are 'healthy' for the inside of you. Nobody can tell you're wearing them. You can use them longer than tampons. You can dance with them, completely undetected. When inserted correctly you can barely feel them.
Cons: They are a little uncomfortable inserting. If you place them incorrectly inside they can leak. They leak when they get too full.
From my personal experiences, the first time I tried Instead, I felt nauteous and weak as I was inserting them, so I stopped and took it out, discarding it in the trash bin. Standing up to wash my hands, I still felt lightheaded. As I walked out of the bathroom I blacked out and fell to the ground. Although it is a normal reaction to black out when your internal organs are messed with, surprisingly it didn't happen to many other people - just me. I also had a similiar reaction the first time I used tampons. Although now I can use tampons without any problems. So, it's unlikely that it will happen to you. My advice is to relax, get in a comfortable position, and go slow. Stop if you feel lightheaded and try again another time.
Anyway, check those links out. && Read the directions thoroughly.
Good luck!![]()

OMG Depo does NOT agree with me! =(
I've had no weight gain, and my libido is fine, but I have a lot of indigestion and I get easily nauseated AAANNND:
I have been on my period for at least 2 months now. Half of the time has been light, the other half very heavy. I'm super pissed, thinking of switching to the NuvaRing.
huh. haven't had a problem with my depo but that definitely sucks. Maybe Luna might have some minor differences besides only being good for a month. Don't know anything about Nuva. But I've heard of other dancers using the moon cups to stem the flow until they're done working.

be carefull stuffing the tampon up there. i have a friend who got one stuck and had to have a doctor take it out. also, TSS is rare, but it can occur if you leave one in for more than a day. so, if you cut the string, stuff it, drink or whatever and forget you left it up there, you could be in for some trouble. i know it sounds impossible and dumb, but it happens.
i just tuck the string up inside. no body needs to know.

There's seasonale, which is just like birth control pills, except you take it 3 months straight, so you only have a period every 3 months.
I also can't handle Depo. Ppl tell me Nuva Ring is awesome, and according to what i've seen, you can leave it in for 45 days, so you have less periods... but be sure to talk to your doc before you do this.
^^^ what she said. Also monophasic (sp) pills which is what seasonale is works best ..depo didnt work for me..at least not in the way it was supposed. The pills work because if i start to not agree with it , I can just go off and switch up..but with depo you have to let it run its cycle.
Insteads, diva cups etc work as well too![]()

I use a tampon and cut the string to 1.5 inches long, which is long enough to be able to pull the thing out but short enough to be well inside.
Hello Ladies
I noticed some of you are taking Depot. I dunno if you heard but the is a lawsuit with that right now. It has killed mant peoples sex drive. And then it takes forever to come back. That shot is also use for stuff other than birth contrl.
IF you guys have had any problem with it you should tell you doc!!!!!!
I have a feeling my sex drive has been affected, too. =\
I do this too and i knot the string so its easy to remove later. V simple!Originally Posted by thechaosfairy

Yes, I dug up an old thread while searching.
I guess I'll have to get used to tampons again, but my problem is that the flow is so heavy the first day and a half that sometimes the tampon doesn't cut it (it's fine for later days). I just started dancing, and I'm worried about calling out for this reason. Guess I need a talk with the house mom asap.
