    Default Neosporin Scar Solution

Just wanted to share. I thought I saw a thread a couple of weeks ago asking about scar treatments, but I couldn't find it.

Anyway, I have been using this on my tummy tuck scar (over 2 years old) for the past 8 weeks, and I've had really good results. My scar is thinner, lighter, and flatter. You can still tell that I have a scar, but it is definately less noticeable. The instructions say to use it for 8- 12 weeks, based on the results I've seen so far, I'm going to continue using it for the full 12 weeks. I need to go get another box, though. It takes 2 pads to cover my scar, which goes from hip to hip. One pad, cut lenghtwise in 3 sections, covers 1/2 of the scar. Cost was $22 plus tax. I have been wearing the stips constantly, only taking off to shower and to go to work, kind of a bummer to come home late and then have to put the crap back on every night for so long!

Gripe: The product itself is sticky, but clothes tend to make it roll off or slip out of position. To keep in place, I bought some paper tape (medical tape that is made for ease of removal when frequent changes are necessary) at CVS. This worked great, but when it ran out, I bought some paper tape at Winn Dixie (I'm on my 3rd roll of tape). When I went to work, I noticed under the blacklights that this product left a sticky residue on my skin (which was hard to get off) because it was glowing!

how to get rid of scars. thread

    -------------------------------------

is the adheisive (from either) bothering you? they used some kinda papery tape on my tubes and over some stiches after my surgery and it made big red marks everywhere it was and itched horribly. the plastic tape was ok though, like plastic skin. I also was bothered (although not to the point of semi-permenent marks) by the contriceptive patch and I am worred about any silicone scar sheets that have thier own adhesive. since my scars are (or rather will be in a few weeks) under my bra I dont have to worry about holding them on, but I do worry about itching horrbily and scratching at my breasts all day.

really I have just been watching ebay for about 2 months now for silcone sheets or gel at a reasonable price......

Sounds like you might have some kind of allergy to certain adhesives.

No, I'm not itching from either. The tape I bought at Winn Dixie is a little rougher coming off, though. At times it leaves some red marks in various places (but very minor), as well as some adhesive.

I was a little off about the price, though. When I went to purchase the second box yesterday it was $28 plus tax, not $22.

    ....
yeah, thats what I think. although some bother me a lot, some just a little, and some not at all.... and almost all of them have to be on my skin for a day or more before they bother me. I work with about 3-4 diffrent tapes at work and they dont bother me, but they also dont stick to my skin for more then a few seconds....... it might be latex though... when I danced I prefered to work nude because the liquid latex for nipples would itch me, although I never got a rash or hives or anything.... they did a questioneer in the hospital for latex allergy and decided I wasnt.... the papery tape from the hospital only maked me directly underneath where it stuck, and not in every place it was. just parts of my side, and under my breasts. in the pics I have on here you can kinda see the reddish things it did... and under my right breast itched more then under my left, but it was horrible, worse then mosquitos.... and all I could do was ice it so that I could feel only numbness and not itching.... the patch wasnt that bad, I just sat around scratching my ass all day and it left a light reddish square for a few hours to a day..... band aids dont bother me though (I am rambling I know....), and that platic tape was just fine, although where it was on my stomach doesnt shine now, but only at certain angles, does that make sence? socks bother me too... dont know why, but they make my legs itch, especilly if I shaved that day.....

This is a great topic, and I can definitely benefit from the input as well. I have a scar on my neck just under my jawline from when I had my shunt out in '97. I've thought about trying these, especially the neosporin scar solution. My scar itself is faded quite a bit, but I can still notice it (of course.. lol). I rarely wear my hair up because of the questions I get when someone sees it. Rather than going through the whole "I had Hydrocephalus and had a shunt" story, I just tell them it's from a car accident.. LOL

Anyhoo, I'm glad that they work, and I'll definitely give them a try.

    Thanks for all the info!
