    Default New Club

    Hi,
This is my first post. I just bought in(and took over managing) a strip club in Cocoa Florida. I've been improving things daily, but it still needs lots of work. I only have about 15-20 dancers, but they're good girls. I need many more. Whew! So many questions! So many ideas, and, Rome wasn't built in a day...... I've been a business man most of my life.... mostly managing sales and commissions, which is what you do....I've just never run this type of business (strip club)before. My first question is, what are some of the things you really enjoy (without costing me a fortune right off the bat) that you've seen in other clubs, or you would like to see from a dancers standpoint. It's off the beach, so I don't get any walk-in traffic, and we can only serve NA beer like, O'douls, NA pina coladas & Daq , so I make enough to pay for the server. The dancers keep 15 out of $20 on the private Dances. I like the idea of the shower, and if some want to do creative shows, because its the only all-nude in the county. (thats why we can't serve alchohol. Any input would be appreciated. Good luck to you all. I have a deep appreciation for how hard your job is. I know I'm putting in a health plan, because many have kids and sre single mothers, and they don't save very wisely in this industry. What a great site! Thanks.

perks (shower, health insurance, etc.) are nice, but the only thing we really care about is working in a safe place and walking out with as much cash as possible.

Health insurance WOULD be nice though...along with safety and a wad of cash!

Professionally trained bouncers, health insurance, zero drug tolerance policy, etc.

The number one easiest advertising thing you can do is print up free passes (in the form of a business card, usually) and give them to your girls. We do give them out - when we want that discount at the mechanic, or extra speedy service somewhere, or even to the waiters that give us free food after work. Also, talk to the drivers at your local Limo company - they are often driving bachelor parties or bands or traveling business men who are looking for a strip club. Make sure they have plenty of free passes. If you want to pursue the show club thing, set a time for it - like at midnight on friday. Just ask your two best girls to do it the first week, and then everyone will be competing to do it the next week. Make it hot girl/girl ice cream or paint shows and the customers will keep coming in to see it. IMO, reputation is the best marketing tool.

    I've been to Cocoa.

To help increase traffic to the club, make the rounds at the hotels and talk to the Concierges/Front Desk Mgrs. There will often be guys asking about "entertainment" in the area!

Wow! These are great! Flyers, cards, hotels...... I can do all that right away. I do have a couple of girls that would be willing to do the shows, but what is an ice-cream or paint show? How does it work? sorry for my ignorance... Thanks..

For a paint show two girls use those paints that glow under the blacklight and they rub them all over eachother, or themselves, depending on local laws. Then they take a white t-shirt and press it between them, leaving boob/ass prints, and then your DJ helps them auction it off. You can end the show there, OR since the girls are all messy you can pull a baby pool full of bubbles out on stage and they can clean eachother off. It's messy and fun and the guys love it.

I don't know about everybody else but I HATE when the management takes money from my dances. It's one thing to take it from the Champagne Room/% out the funny money, but I've worked at clubs where there's superhigh house fees, but everything after house, you keep. Clubs that take half your money (I've worked at clubs like yours where I keep $15 out of every dance and my house fee was between $20-$50) I've noticed are actually worse. It all depends on the dancer/hustler-but I look at it like this-

House is $50, plus tip out to DJs, housemom, whatever-$65. That night, I get 25 lapdances, which if I was keeping my full $20, I'd have $500, but because I'm giving you %, you take $125=$375. Then, I have to tip out-$65, so I'm walking out with $310.

Now, I work at another club and house fee is $100. It may be $50 more, but everything after, I keep. So I have $400. Now, I don't know about everyone else, $90 is $90, but I may need that $90 if I got a phone bill and my rent is due, but I can't get that $90 because I'm so busy paying everyone in a club that I basically rent 'space' from. I love my DJs and I do tip (even when it's by choice, I'll give $$ to you if you play good music) but I prefer to keep my money from my dances. Even if it's only $5, that $5 is two gallons of gas, my Frappaccino Light in the morning, my salad, whatever. And I'll close this with Emily's wonderful quote:

I see what you mean, Pimpy. Here's the problem with this location. 90% of your money is made on Friday and Saturday nights right now. Until I can build it up,all the girls want to work then, and only then. So, I inherited a rule (which I kept ), that says you have to work a minimum of 2 weekdays to be able work that weekend. Alot of the girls don't make enough during the week 0-3 dances)to cover their drive over from Orlando, so I waive the 20 house fee. The fee is paid, not when they arrive, but when they leave. The DJ also lets them slide. On the weekends, the fee goes to 25, which is never a problem. I can't see (right now at least) how 100 would even be attainable. They would never get out of the house. Its just not that big of a club yet. But it is large , and boy does it have potential. I have 2 sisters that started today. One turns 20 tonight, and her sister turns 19 in november. I told them about the paint show, and they're all over it! We have a shower that is never used, and they want to move it over there to shower each other up after the auction. I buying the paint and a large Birthday cake ( a surprise) for the bash tonight, thanks to one suggestion here. I'm going to use this as a trial run, and give all the money to the two girls(except for the DJ 20 bucks). If it works well, I will advertise this with newspaper and Flyers, and also work the hotels for another one.

you must be at playmates. while i admire your drive to make that club better. you are competeing with all the liquer bars with beautiful girls and low dance prices. i know it's nude but in your area liquer and tits outweighs nude/ no alcohol/ crappy area. good luck to you and the girls here gave good advice. not meaning to be negitive, but you have your work cut out for you!

Bingo, Velvet......Yup, lotsa work. Alot of the girls that worked there before that were treated badly, and it was not well run, are coming back.As long as its safe, (it is) and they make money I'm hoping I can keep them long enough for the remodeling. I'm trying to bring every area up a notch. I think a few will make over 500 tonite with a couple more in the 250 range. I don't think anyone will make less than 100. If not there probably not gonna be there as we upscale, and advertise more. At this point, all the previous customers have said its much nicer, and a whole new mood. But atmosphere can only go so far....the place got so run down, I've had lots of cleaning going on, and repairs scheduled. I don't want to put "Under new management" advertising yet, while there are still some things I'm embarrassed about. But heh, its only been a week and a half! we'll get there. Every day is better than before. We're building an all-upscale from scratch called Cinderellas in W mel. With buffetts , big screens behind the stages so, the girls dance to music videos. Same owners, that why they need me to bring this one up before we open the other. You're right , though.. Its kinda like taking a shower with your socks on, but its improving.

Kepp house fee low, provide a clean/safe enviroment for the dancers and staff, and last but not least make sure management treats the dancers with respect...after all without great dancers you don't have a good strip club

Lol Playmates! Have not stopped by that place in gosh....Well as you may know we have lots of radio activity for clubs, and paper adds as well. A sign out front would help if this is ALL new management/owners, as well as saying under new management/ownership on the radio. Make the add FUN, this brings people in. New dancers, new shows, etc. Dress, casual, and how about for a few months a low cover as well.

Maybe i will have to make a stop your way soon, check it out.

    Good luck,

    Pamela

Thanks ladysummer. The respect is the one thing I do have down well.... Because its real. From what I gather, its been a huge difference for them for the better. We'll see today, though , after I implement some changes at the meeting I've called.

Well, Here's my RANT>>>>>The meeting went well...... considering.....We closed sun morning at 4am, and the meeting was at 3-4pm because we don't open til 4 on sunday. The 2 assistants (who speak mostly Turkish)guaranteed me no one would show except the guys that work there. Even though I hadn't been there for even 2 full weeks ,I disagreed , and about 75% of all the Girls showed up.

2 of the girls complained to the majority owner , who is Turkish , he flipped! w/o even looking at the pay system, and all my notes, He said" No changes" He's also Turkish, and has owned most of it for the past 9 years.
It has gone downhill so much, I agreed to turn the place around. It was doing half the biz it was when he was managing it 3 years ago, so he suspected theft and mistreatment.

I've been turning businesses around for the past 25 years. I've identified the problems, and even though much progress was made, I do not have the support of the majority owner, who prefers I turn it around without making any changes, and little or no improvements. The girls dressing room is a shithole, the mens bathroom has 2 urinals with a garbage bag on 1 thats been there for a year, and the other one overflows and never stops running. He assured me that that would come out of his pocket......Plus he's screwing the Turkish guys that work there, paying them "sweat-shop" money because they don't speak good English and can't work anywhere else.
This is alot of work, but the whole system(or non-system) that was in place before I got there was chaotic, to say the least.
If I am overtrumped by the maj owner, I will be done, and the place will continue to fall. The girls will go back to being treated like shit. and the Turkish guys like animals who get 40 bucks a day. Some days they work 14-16 hours and 1 is married , has 3 kids, and drives in from Orlando, about 40 miles away.I will spend my time on my day job. Theft wasn't the problem... Its been let go downhill.
Now you can see why I don't want to advertise "under new mgnmt" unless I win this war, and I certainly don't want you to come in, Pamela, in until I come back.
I don't think I will win, because he would rather have it run like a third world country, where the girls work all day long,Fighting with customers all day long, then had to fight the managers(and the Turkish DJ) for tip money so bad they got fired, and fined if it wasn't high enough. God forbid they would have alot of dances that night. All three would demand no less than 20 tip, even if they made nothing during the week.
I'm American. I know how to treat people. In America, we treat people with respect, and don't use them . For instance.... A girl works her shift , and is on time from 12-7, and no one is there for the 7-close shift yet. Yes, she can be asked to stay for a bit, but she has the right to say no. She should not be punished because of the girls that stroll in late everyday.Sheez, they don't come in til 9:30! The late ones should be fined.Instead, they were making the day shift girls stay late or be fined.
I made alot of changes- for the better. Right now, Turkish guy say"No Changes" ..... I'm outa here.
I'm think gonna wait til it goes into foreclosure, buy it, demolish it, and make it a "Platinum Club" with a 5-star Steakhouse. Its location is perfect. Orlando's dead, and this will be the closest club to there. There, done ranting...... thanks, cocoajoe
