Default Invisalign

I got Invisalign about a month ago and so far I love them!

I'm on my third set of "aligners" right now and I've noticed my teeth moving into place. I got them to fix a small overbite and crooked bottom teeth.

They're great because I really, really didn't want to dance with braces, even the "clear" ones that to me look like you have food stuck on your teeth. You can't even see them in the club. I thruthfully don't think it's negatively affected my money in the least. Not a single customer has mentioned it, and you know how a lot of customers have no problem asking us super-personal questions that they'd consider inappropriate anywhere else!

Anyway, I like that you can take them out to eat, which can be a little weird, but I hate eating with them in. Food really does taste better with them out. You can have them out for up to 4 hours a day to eat. I try to have them out as little as possible.

Just wanted to share in case anyone out there was thinking of having orthodontic treatment done, that this could be a great option! It only cost me a few hundred more than getting the regular braces, with visits to pick up sets of aligners 3 at a time just once every 6 weeks instead of monthly like with regular braces. Unfortunately for me, my orthodontist is in DC and I live in Baltimore, but it gives me a nice excuse to hang out in DC!

I have a friend who has them...she loved them as well!

I need to have all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and then get braces (because the 4 pushed my others completely out of line)...Hope that I'm a candidate for Invisalign...otherwise, it'll be braces for me...

If you dont mind me asking, how much did they cost you? I understand you have to pick up sets of aligners and what not, but what is the grand total you paid for them? Ive considered invisalign myself, but i just wasnt sure. I dont want them to be visible--at all..

The full course of treatment is costing me just under 6K, paid out in installments over 1 year after a 2K down payment.

Do you know by any chance if they do a credit check in order to qualify for the installments plan for Invisalign? I really want it, but my credit is not so good. Thanks

Man, I'd love to get invisalign, but I can't afford the $6000, even if I made the payments in installments. But it sure would be nice to have straighter teeth..One day I will one day...

I have these too! I love em! Mine were only 3500 though. I am starting on my 7th set of aligners on monday. I looked at the first one I had to wear and compared em to the ones I have on now..and OMG my teeth have moved SO much! And I'm not even half way done!! NINADAISY--- how many sets do you have to get? I have to have em for 7 months...so about 14 sets. At first I even took them out for work, until I got comfortable in them. Every once in a while I still take em out for work but I try not too. These are the greatest things!

$3500......that sounds great.....I take it your orthodontist/dentist is in philly......So you only haev to wear them for 7 months..thats even better ..You dont have to wear them for very long at all.. I remember growing up all my friends had their braces on for years...Years is a little too long for me.....

nina do you have dental insurence? what about you philly? I really want invisalign, my teeth suck, some of them are almost sideways since there is no room. I am in the same situation as venus, I still have my wisdom teeth.

I dont have dental insurance..My dentist is about 30 minutes out of philly, he is great! He gave me a discount because he knew I was going to pay cash and he is the husband of the bartender where I work. Yeah my teeth were pretty messed up too..You couldnt see it from far away or anything, but if u looked close u could see that some of my teeth were crooked and very crowded. The only thing that has been uncomfortable is when he had to shave in between some of my teeth so there was room for them to move..and that wasn't so bad. 7 months isn't long at all! I was so surprised when he said I only had to wear em that long..I though I would def have to wear them for a year or more...

Ami,
Dental insurance won't cover the costs of orthodontic appliances (at least mine won't nor any others that I looked into). They may cover a small portion, but...the majority is an out-of-pocket expense.

Are you going to have your wisdoms removed? I need to get that done, and was told that when that happens, my teeth should move fairly easily and quickly if I get braces/etc. right away...I hope so. But, we'll see.

Ami, I have no dental insurance, it was all out of pocket.

I am paying in installmants, but I didn't apply for financing, though it is available from my orthodontist.

I am getting 7 sets of aligners for my bottom teeth and 11 for my top teeth, even though my bottom teeth are quite crooked and I just have a very small overbite on my top teeth though the top teeth are basically straight save for a very small gap in the front.

Venus, my dental insurence will cover 50% of orthodontic work.

I need to have my wisdoms removed. I think they are why my jaw feels tight and weird. and I am preaty sure thats why my bottom two front teeth that used to be perfect are now crossing eachother..... I just havent been able to afford it....

my aetna covers it "once in a lifetime" at 4 or 5k.

Too bad i didnt follow through with the braces(had them removed)
But thats ok, because the veneers and crowns look way better then my natural teeth would ever.

ami, if its covered 50% and you pay 4k (which i have seen invisaline for) It would only be 2k. And you could finance that for a VERY VERY low payment monthly. 2k financed over 24 months(2years) with 4% interest would be about 90 bucks a month.
You can get it financed for longer even.

Take advantage of your insurance when you have a decent plan. That is what it is there for!!

Beware with invisalign-- if your teeth are very crooked it's just not worth the cost. Braces will move your teeth quicker. Mine were just a little too croocked for invisalign, but I had my braces off in 3 months. Also you can get some very cute colours.

This is all very interesting that so many of us need ortho. All my life growing up I beamed as the dentist told me what beautiful teeth I had and I did not need braces. So, imagine my chagrin when I go to the dentist last week and she tells me I need ortho. :o I don't even know how to explain it but crooked teeth are not the problem. Something about my top back teeth wearing down my lower back teeth...collapsed bite when I'm old...chipping and wearing away my top front tooth...blah blah blah. She said invisalign probably would not work. And mentioned something about wearing braces for 3 years!!! :o :o :o No thanks. Not interested. Don't want hot pink or neon blue in my mouth nope nope nope.

I'd rather get crowns on the back teeth and just repair the front tooth. So I can see how Invisalign is the only route some people will take.

Ami, I bet your wisdom teeth are the reason for your front crowding. I had the same problem with mine. I had 4 teether pulled when I got my braces back in Jr. high and HS. They said they had to pull them to make room for my wisdoms that would come in. They were wrong!!!!!

When they finally did come in, they almost ruined 4k of braces work, but my dentist pulled them and my front teeth moved back to where they were and I have no problems now at all. I think you might want to have your wisdoms pulled then wait about 6 months before you try braces or the Invisaline thing. Your teeth might just need a little more room to straighten out on their own.

I actually ended up having 12 teeth total pulled so they would be straight. The 4 original ones plus 4 wisdoms, and 4 other molars as well. Poor me I only have 8 molars left in my whole head, lol.

You're probably like me then, Kitana-- I'm part japanese, and I seem to have inheireted a very small jaw and remarkably large chompers. So large I get asked if I have veeners or capped teeth. I had 8 teeth pulled, and my wisdoms are only coming in now, and ruining all this lovely (and friggin expensive) dental work. Sigh...

I have had my wisdom teeth pulled. If I hadn't they would have messed up my other teeth because there would not have been enough room. Not everyone needs to get their wisdom teeth pulled but most do, if you have enough room in your mouth it is unnecessary. Tampafldancer-- How much were your veneers? Do you have the really thin ones that go over your teeth.

I have braces. big, horrible braces. I HATE them. However, I get them off in two months, and I am literally counting the days. Before I got them I exhausted every other option, I saw 4 different orthodontists. They all told me the same thing: Invisalign won't work.
Oh well, I hate them now, but my teeth are sooo straight. I am so excited to get the off! Once it's over, I know it'll have been worth it. Oh, and I dance with them. Guys sometimes comment on them, but usually they say it's cute. I'm young too -- only 18, and I look about 14, so I just play it up. LOL, my dr. just started me on these rubber band things about 2 weeks ago. Now THEY suck!!! I haven't really been wearing them..
but overall, they're worth it. I'm lucky, my dad payed..
