I'd looked into buying a pole online. Seeing as how those are $200 and up, I went to Lowe's. I bought a medium width 8 ft pole, which was about my only choiceI took it home and put in in a plastic bucket filled with quick dry cement. I then buried the bucket and put more cement on top of that. I now have a perfectly good pole to practice on in the privacy of my backyard and it only cost about $20. I was also thinking of buying a large piece of kitchen floor, cutting a hole in the middle and sliding it over my pole. Then I would have a little dance floor too

What is your pole made out of? Would it work indoors? I always practice on the pole at the park, but its all skinny and has a weird grip on it...plus they put it too close to the slided so I bang into it when I spin. Have fun!
If I fall, I have a nice sandy landing too!
