    Default Save Karyn

This book is by a real life person, Karyn Bosnack, who got herself $20,000 in debt and details the long road back to being debt-free. What's really different is that she came up with a web-site called "Save Karyn" where she asked people for help paying down her debt and every month documented contributions, what of her stuff she sold on e-bay and how she paid down her debt, so people could keep track of her progress.

Since there are quite a few posts on debt here, I thought this might be a cool read to mention. I just started reading it myself.

She writes very honestly about the type of mental thinking that got her into the debt in the first place.

    I remember that site.

It was a nice idea, but people started to copy it and it kind of lost its novelty after her.

I'm sure her book would be interesting. I also liked the fiction Confessions of a Shopaholic

In read her book a few months ago. I used to live in NYC, so I understand that weird need to "keep up". With the fashions, the latest restaurants, all of it.

New York City is full of people who are making millions a year but still have problems keeping up with their bills.

Moving out of New York helped ease the temptations, but I have to admit I still find it hard to avoid falling into the "buying pretty but useless crap" trap.

    Turns out she's already saved.

But there's some entertaining stuff on her site.

"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

Nina, this is exactly why I now live in Upstate NY. It's absolutely scary how easy it is to spend money like water in the City.
