Default The converse of "you have much to learn grasshopper"

The last post involved new girls showing respect towards those of us who have been around.
This is a different side of the coin. I've been a dancer for 10yrs. and I would like to think that I've always been respectful towards my co-workers. Recently, I have been in a fairly new club and befriended the girls both veteran and newbie. Except for one.
She has been incessantly harassing other dancers from day one. Most of us have a thick skin and couldn't care what some bitch has to say..but..she actually had the brass to pull a new girl to the side on stage and tell her she looked like a whore. WHAT?! How dare any entertainer speak to another with such malice. Veteran dancers should have much more class and dignity. That kind of behavior is unforgivable. We are all (literally) putting our asses on the line each day. There is never an excuse to pick on other girls because you think you're better or classier or whatever.
We are all out of highschool. And we should all treat one another like adults. Nuff said.

I was told by a girl the other night that my dress was tacky (it's a $200+ velvet gown) and that I should change my clothes. She also felt the need to inform me that I looked like I had two black eyes and needed more makeup. Give me a break, you jealous piece of poor white trash. I can see right through you. I get told at least once a night (I'm not bragging, just stating a fact, so don't attack me) that I am the best looking and classiest girl in the place, and asked why I'm doing this instead of being in Playboy. I was asked by a female customer last week if I would share my fashion sense with the other dancers, because "You make them look like sh*t". I don't try to rub anyone's nose in this, and only repeat these comments to my husband.

She also verbally attacked another dancer for supposedly violating the three second contact rule, which the house mother would have been on her like white on rice if she had actually done. She is a petty, jealous, to everyone she works with, and there's no reason for it, because she is far from being so ugly she needs to tie a pork chop around her neck to get the dog to play with her. Quite the opposite in fact.

We are not in junior high anymore, and as Foxee said, we need to treat each other like adults, instead of talking shit about each other, drugging your fellow dancers with God knows what, breaking into each others lockers, tearing up clothes and filling suitcases with BBQ sauce. You wouldn't do this to your coworkers at a bank or a grocery store, so why do it in the club?

It's unfortunate that this job breeds immaturity. Having no schedule, no responsiblities and not getting a sense of hard work makes a lot of these girls regress into this adolesent behavoir. When threatened, it's even worse.

What happened to me last night? Three different bitches asked me if I was in the champaign room, and with whom. I'm like, WHAT THE FUCK? Are they fucking trying to keep track of my earnings? I don't mind telling people on this board how much I made, but I'm not going to play little games with the girls at work.

those kinds of girls are exactly why a newbie should heed of the "newbie advice." Those evil, predatory bitches are sometimes successful at tearing somebody down and sending them away in tears.

I so agree Saph. I have seen many dancers cry, or just leave the club after being talked about by another dancer that has been there for years. I say, let them talk, it's hard to do. I had to go with this shit as well. I ignored them, and started hustling my ass off. It does take a strong woman to endure people like that. BUT, it can be done, don't ever say a word to them and they have no fuel to fire you up!!!!!

They will only start on another, but it gets old, and someday one of these bitches will get their own medicine. That's why i stuck around!!!

A rookie came up to me the other day and insulted my shoes "those look like the shit my mom wore in the 80's". I was like, "is that how you make friends?". Bitch!

I've only got about 2 years under my belt, and sometimes still feel quite new at the game...but I've always been nice to newbies, and luckily in return the veteran dancers have always been good to me.

One of the things I always tell dancers (and other professionals alike) is that when you start to be successful and do well in your business or line of work, you will always be a target by those who are not. It's the nature of the beast, and the best way to deal with it is to understand that there is no doubt in your mind that you are better than those poeple. That ultimately you are a better person for not getting involved in such immature insanity, and at the end of the day, you are the one with your chin up.

Your being successful usually brings out the worst in others in this business. It's funny b/c the other girls can usually see through the jealousy in what other people say about you....it just makes them look bad. They don't know how to handle themselves.

One of the dancers at my old club overheard these two girls talking trash about me. She asked the girl why she didn't like me and she said, " I don't know, I just don't." I get a lot of shit because I am extremely polite no matter what the situation, but I won't put up with blatant meanness. This same girl tried to talk to me like we were friends. I was "nicely" short with her and walked away

I know most of us are tough and don't care about what anyone says about us. And I also know that most of us here would never say the type of things that these catty girls do.
It just breaks my heart to see a girl who is insecure to begin with get picked on because she's an easy target. Incidentaly, my club needs more girls terribly. So, the last thing that the meany in question needs to be doing is running girls out of the club! Major "WTF is she thinking?" ???

I remember when I first started at my first club.
All the girls were so nice and helpful.
But during that "friendly time" I barely made any money. therefore I was no competition for them.
However once I started hustling more, establishing regulars, and making twice what they were, their attitudes took a 180 spin and they
became a nightmare to work with.
I think that's how it usually works though.
Once a veteran stripper told me that this kind of behavior was the norm, and she said "When all the other girls hate you because you make more money and give them competition, that's when you know that you're a real dancer"
Lately a few newbies have been trying to "make friends" with all the dancers and their money keeps going down down down.
One of them asked me to hang out with them but I said no.
I'm not here to be buddy buddy with dancers, I'm just trying to make as much as I can to move me forward in life.
Needless to say that group of newbies has been trash talking me lately but I just blow it off.
Don't get me wrong, I consider myself a nice person but I'm no doormat

The girls who act like that are just the most insecure little bitches in the club. Ignore them as if they're not even there.

There's some little cunt at my club who always tries to "boss around" newer girls. She pulled that crap with me and I flat ignored her; she doesn't say a word to me now. I've seen her doing the same to other girls who come to work here and most of them also either ignore her or politely tell her where she can shove it. She is sooooo insignificant in the grand scheme.

If I see a girl picking on another in such a stupid mean way as described above, I'd pull the victim aside and tell her to ignore that bitch. Sometimes newbies can be easily intimidated by that crap and just hearing "ignore the bitch" from another girl can make a world of difference

The thing I find so funny about girls who are catty or mean is the fact that being a bitch actually takes MORE energy (and more time away from making money) than simply being nice, civil, or polite does. ???

My frst thought was (meant only as a smartass retort) to say:

"Of course it's tacky you dimwit; I'm a stripper"

I'm sure that would take care of everything.

Yeah, this is very middle-school stuff. My second night working some girl told me my clothes were "fucking hideous." Lucky for me, I got picked on lots in middle school, so this shit is old hat...

Good response: Ignore it. It's honestly nothing.

Better response: Smile and ask for her advice about whatever she's criticizing. Either she'll be gracious and give it to you, or she'll be at a loss for words...cuz you look fine and she was totally full of shit to begin with.

Best response: Totally freak out. Act like you're going to cry. Keep asking her WHY she thinks your shoes are ugly. WHY? Oh, WHY? Tell her you only wore these shoes to impress her! Special her! Her of the impeccable taste in shoes! Follow her around the rest of the night, begging for more shoe-related advice. Take all your shoes out of your bag and demand that she critique each and every pair. Ask her to go shoe-shopping with you, so you'll be sure not to make any more mistakes. (This is probably the last time she will ever talk to you. Cheers.)
