    Default BOTOX/RESTYLANE

I posted on another thread that almost 2 weeks ago i had my lips done with restylane. well they had some left over in the syringe, so they filled in that lovely little line between my eyebrows - it was amazing - took about 4 years off of me and i LOVE IT!!!
NOW my dilemma is botox. Do i get it or not???
Has anyone had it done? the doc told me to come back this week while the restylane is fresh and it will make it vanish all together, but i am sort of scared about having that nerve stuff injected into my face.
Would love to hear your experiences before i go in for this! Danielle

Never had botox. Read alot about it thow. I have no frown lines or wrinkles *yet* so i am not sure what else it is used for.

seems everyone here in my area has tried it at least once. And they just said it felt funny, they could not move the part of the face that was injected, it's made to attack the nerves that's why. did not last long enough some said.

Dunno, read about it, why not ask the doc. who done your lips?

My mom has used botox and restalyne (as a facial filler) and she looks way younger!!! Botox lasts 3-6 months depending on the person and the area it is used on. But it has worked wonders for her.

I've had botox but not for wrinkles. I tried it to stop sweating. It worked very well for the first 4 months and then started to taper off. I don't think Botox has officially been approved for this though.

I have to warn you though. The shit hurts going in!! Godddamn.... lol. And I've heard it is very expensive!

    Thanks girls
I used the restylane for a filler too and it is amazing!
I don't NEED the botox - I don't have wrinkles or anything - it's just that one little line between the eyebrows.
Guess I'll hold off on the botox for a few years and just keep up the rest. injections.
Hardkandee, I have heard botox is painful. The rest. was too. It felt they were sticking needles in my brain!! But the resluts are worth it

had botox it was fine not very painful if done correctly about the same amount of pain as acupuncture or less even

the doctor maybe hitting a nerve if he isnt well practised or is using too large a guage of needle again probably not a very experienced practioner.

results are good but if they get too close to the muscle support in your eye you can get a droop - NOT attractive.

all in all a decent product and is absorbed without issue.

used to be used in other medical procedures long b4 it became a beauty consideration by side effect.

    no worries on safety there.

I haven't tried restylane but my derm charges $650 for it. She offers a dental block for free. Damn :o I guess that's how much it hurts.

It's in the $600+ range for 1 .07cc syringe and yes, it hurt like hell!
The dental block was worse than anything me dentist ever did to me!
It's when they stick the needles right up in the corner of your upper gumline that's the worst - it feels like that sucker is hitting your brain by way of every nerve in your sinus path.
One side of my lip was not quite numb enough when they started, so I got a double whammy. When they started plumping me up, I felt the first few injections.

Next time, I'll pay the extra $1000 for the anesthesiologist so I can sleep through it!
There is a NEW one out called "Artecoll" that just got FDA approval that I am going to try next time
    In case anyone is interested:

I recently had restlylynne in my laugh lines. I liked the results the first few days then after that I think I looked the same. It cost 450 for a cc. I might do another and see if I like it better. Did 1 cc of botox last year it only lasted 1 month on me and didnt do much. I think these hings work better on women 40 and up. I suppose the more aging and wrinkles the better result but t me they just cover things up a little. I dont look any younger and noone noticed I did either. Get some ipl photo facials done they increase collagen in te whole facial area and give you a all over result and youthfull toning. M ore worth it. When I get those my little forehead lines go away completely.

The molecules in Restylane are large, hence why it hurts so much.

Really? I've never thought about it like that. That makes so much sense.

I don't think you should have any problems, but scheduling for Friday is good anyhow. I hope you are very happy with the results!

    Mich -
What are those? What's the procedure? Is it painful? Any idea of cost?
I went back - they told me I am too young and my face is still fine without botox for another 10ish years, but i do want the laugh lines gone.
My restylane is holding up beautifully in the lip but it seems the forehead line is back about 50%.
I REALLY want to check out the artecoll!!

Oh, and Raven, good luck. Please update us - I would love to hear how it goes and if you like it!!!

Reg, just to let you know, Restylane is a line filler and Botox works by paralyzing the muscle under the wrinkle which causes the lines to smooth. Some women with deeper lines do a cocktail, but usually Restylane is well-suited to filling in deep furrows.

Raven, let us know how it went! Where are you getting the Botox? I saw your pics in the gallery and by the looks of it, you don't need it.

Well I had it done yesterday. It wasen't bad at all. I had them do my forehead and crowsfeet beside my eyes. The whole prosedure took 20 minutes max I would say.
The doctor said that results take up to 10 days to see. And that no lying down for 4 hours afterwards. Some people get headaches from the procedure as well as some bruising. But non of that occured with me. Looking at it this morning it seems the results have already started the smaller of my lines are already reduced. Very happy so far! Will keep you all updated. Oh and it cost 400 dollars.

Reg, ipl treatments are pulsed light waves over the face to increase collagen. It hurs a little its hot and they put a freezing cold gel on your face. The cost is usually done by package. Something like 3-6 treatments for 1200. Or 400 per treatment. Ypu can get the restalyne in your laugh lines and do the ipl. Also the line on your forehead is coming back because of the muscle, so botox would take care of that but you probably dont really need it. Just so you know even with the ipl, your wrinkles will go away but come back over time again due to the muscular movement. Let me know if you get them done and how you like it.

Hardkandee, I'm pretty sure it was $400 Canadian Dollars, which comes out to about $300 USD. Not a bad price for doing a few areas!

Did you go to a dermatologist or an aesthetician, Raven?

That's cool. I was just curious about how many units were used. When I tried it, I only did about 20 units. It cost me $85, I think. (It was a while ago... )
