Thundercloud is in Austin, duh. I am going there right now for a delicious ham and cheese. Eaves Brothers' Quality Seafood makes a lovely shrimp poboy in town. Delaware is the best for cheeseteaks in Austin, hands down. I have always found Texadelphia to be vastly overrated. And while they don't make a sub, Schlotsky's makes a tasty hot sandwich; too bad about the bankruptcy.

mmm...baggin's. great call...
another tucson fave: frog & firkin.
in phoenix, i run people over to get to chompie's. closest thing we have to the nyc originals.

I am all over Pats! Good cheesesteak!

oh...man. tori, you disappoint me. pat's is some foul shit. i really dont think it's even beef. tsk tsk.
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.
I like to make them myself at @ home.

Yeah, great food, if they let you in....Originally Posted by desertdoll

i lived in tucson back in 82-84 timeframe and the thing i remember most was this sammich place called eegee's. the subs weren't great but they had the best frozen slushie fruit things ever in the history of the world.

Oooooo, Eegee's. I would kill for a lemon Eegee right now. You know, in high school we found that they're even better with some rum in them.
And I second Frog & Firkin, hardkandee, although I never had trouble getting in. I avoided it when school was in session, though, so maybe that's why. I liked it better in the summer, when they'd have the misters going and crazy drunken bluegrass bands playing loudly to a bunch of people who weren't listening anyway.

Quiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiznos!

F&F not letting you in? Hmm...I never had that one happen. If I had known they were being bastards, I'd have kicked some arse for you. Or at least I wouldn't have nominated them for good sandwiches.Originally Posted by hardkandee

This is fun...seems possible to chart geographic meanderings by thinking of sandwich joints...
So...to recap, hardkandee nominated Baggin's, I added Frog & Firkin, MrChristopher digs the crack-laced Eegee's (yummy). Any takers for other Tucson gems like Gentle Ben's? Brueggers (all over the place in other states, of course)? Bazil's? Time Market? Sausage Deli?
As for Phoenix, other than Quizno's and Blimpie and ToGo's and Subway, I think we have Jason's Deli and...oh...Duck & Decanter. And Chompie's.
And as for Austin, I had a yummy sandwich at a Magnolia Cafe last month. Haven't tried Susan's or Kat's recommendations, though, so I'll have to do that when I'm there in a couple weeks.

Subway as the others don't exist here in Australia. Subway also seems the most prolific... and they do me well enough when I do buy a foot-long (always vegie or just a salad).

They wouldn't let me in because after 7pm they turn it 21+. I was SO sad!! I had been waiting forever to get some of their firkin fries (the green ones with brie and pesto!) and they carded me and didn't let me in. I can understand their 21+ rule but they wouldn't let me order out (from outside the gate) and they wouldn't let my boyfriend in to get them for me.Originally Posted by desertdoll
