I've been thinking that I would like to try a cleanse. For starters, I smoke, and drink, and consume way too much coffee, so I'm sure my body is overloaded with crap. Additionally, I am having trouble getting nutrients from food, the worst being B12, I have tested deficient for the third time in 2 years. I do eat meat, and don't restrict any foods from my diet necessarily, but I do avoid milk, soy, and rice protein because I can't tolerate them. I occasionally drink the lactose-treated milk (I need some milk on oatmeal, etc.), or use the pills to treat myself to an ice cream.
I have heard good things about periodic cleanses, that you can regain energy, lose the sluggish feeling, aid digestion, and increase absorption of nutrients from food and supplements after doing one.
I've done some research online, but one thing seems to be common in some programs - they encourage diarrhea as part of the cleansing process. I am absolutely NOT willing to go that route. I've had enough issues already with my food intolerances, and I don't want any part of that. Additionally, I get migraines when my blood sugar drops, and they can be doozies. If I ended up with a killer migraine, and had to ingest a bunch of meds, it would seem to defeat the purpose of trying a cleanse in the first place.
Any suggestions? Experiences?
