Default This is why its better to work alone!

A few months ago I took a friend with me from Austin to work at the St. James club in Houston.

On the third night, I had had a family problem, drank a bunch of shots quickly, was careless with a customer, and began to cry uncontrollably in the dressing room (over the family incident). Needless to say, we had to leave quickly.

When I went back a few weeks later, there was a "mark" for my dancer number, but the GM couldn't remember what he had to talk to me about. I knew exactly, but played dumb.

St. James has been busted something like 5 times this summer. Many girls have gone to jail for extras. Many girls have also been fired, the club is trying to clean up.

I was there last night, and things appear to have improved, but earnings were poor.

So my friend decides to take HER friend from Austin down there to work today. First thing, they stay at the hotel next door and discover, suprise, that there are hookers there. This is Houston after all! So she seems mad at me for recommending the place...I just liked the free porn.

THEN, they go to work and she is told that she is not welcome at St. James. Well, they think she is ME!!! DOH! So she is stuck at this sleazy motel with no work!

When she told me, the first thing I asker her is if she told them my name. I mean, my ass is clear there, no point in her ratting me out right?

She said "my friend" is the one you are looking for but didn't give my name. She sounded really pissed at me. I think they went to look for work elsewhere.

    The question is:

    1. Do you think that they will find out it was me that they wanted to kick out of the club and I won't be welcome next time? I would rather not call and give them reason to remember.

    2. Should I take the chance and go in again?

    3. How can I make this up to her? Or is it worth it?

A litte vent. A little lesson learned ladies...thanks for reading!

    Kat

    edit to add:
Here is another point to add: I am much more attractive than this girl, although she has a nice bodybuilding physique, she is kind of a butta face. Not to be mean, but I would presume that the club would be more forgiving towards me, or am I just being egotistical?

    Hey, Kat!
About your friend: It isn't your fault that the club confused the two of you. Damn...It sounds like you had a really bad night and, in my opinion, a really good friend would think back and go, "oh, yeah. Kat was having a really hard time that night..." It happens. There are so many clubs in Houston, so I doubt she was stranded without a place to work. I think her problem is that Houston is so different from Austin. I grew up in Houston and sometimes, just bringing Austinite friends to Houston, I find myself defending the very existence of the city.

Traveling to any city to dance never comes with guarantees. Any traveling dancer knows that. The club just might turn you down. Hookers? Where? In her bed? I always assume that there is something freaky going on in every hotel I've stayed in.

As far as the club...if the mark is off your name, I wouldn't worry. Just try not to let things get bad again. Don't call. Go in and act like you belong there. If someone mentions anything, just act like it has already been sorted out or was a misunderstanding.

Something very similar happened to me involving my moronic insistence that I could drive home, though I was stumbling drunk. I even went in the dressing room, pretending that I was going to sit in there and sober up, but proceeded to exit the other side of the dressing room and tried to sneak out the back door. Bad move. Good thing they were watching because I would not have made it home without killing someone. I kept arguing with the bouncer, totally made a scene, acted like a dumbass. I stayed away for three weeks, went back, and everything was cool.

Since it has been months since the incident, don't worry. I suspect she did rat you out BY NAME because that's the way people are. You can always say that she is blaming you for her shit because I seriously doubt she'll go back to St. James. They'll want to believe it wasn't you because you're hotter than her.

    Good luck.

Not if nobody else tries to rat you out. The incident in question has already had a cause/effect occur for it (your friend got tossed)... so management is likely considering it a done deal and already muddled with other, new events to clog their brains with.

    2. Should I take the chance and go in again?
Sounds like it's not worth it from an earnings standpoint, so perhaps only a social visit to schmooze management about moving on so as to leave this club avail as a future place to work.

    3. How can I make this up to her? Or is it worth it?
I honestly dont think you can. She's too prudish for a HOUSTON hotel with pro's working in it (duh, even the 5-stars are loaded with pro's these days..), and was too wimpy to stand up for herself or let wrongful events fall in her lap. This tells me she isn't cut out for the Houston dynamic and should just move on.

It's not good if she got your blame pinned on her, but are you absolutely sure this was the case? After all, your dancer number is the one with the black mark on it- then she got let go. I'd be willing to bet she pissed off a customer or something and was let go on her own 'merits'... contrasted with how much her pull-in was versus yours. Stripclub management doesn't care about justice, they only care about the bottom line.
It doesn't matter if you're somebody in this world, it rather matters you mean the whole world to somebody.

    Kat,

I think your hot enough and hustler enough that you can probably get away with most things.

About your freind, can you help her out by getting her into another club in Houston, since she's up there? Or maybe the next time you guys are out pay for her ticket/meal/whatever and just say "this ones on me - I still feel bad about that Houston fiasco"

The earnings I made this week at the club were low, but this is a bad week for everyone across the country.

If this incident had occurred before June, management would not have done anything about it. But the place has been getting busted all summer. This is actually a good thing because things have cleaned up. Only one customer hit me up for extras, which is rare. And there is tons of money in that club. It would be stupid for me to close that window.

I've left her two messages apologizing profusely. She's a good girl. I told her I'll get her dinner, or her tipout next time at our local club, or whatever she wants....

I hope things work out. Thanks for the advice kids

You're right. But is what does that have to do with my treatment of her? Should I go to the club and tell management about the mix-up to clear her name. She doesn't go to Houston to work as often as I do. I'd be willing to go tell Randy that it was me, but would it accomplish anything?

I seriously doubt she'll ever come back to that club again after that experience. ???

Sorry that whole incident happened Kat (hope the family situation is getting better). You left the messages, so now wait for her to contact you again. She might need to cool off for awhile, and it's probably best to give her space. Good luck

ITS ALL LOVE UP IN DA CLUB!

Problem solved. Kat is up to her histrionics again. My girl J called me back and told me the story. After they got dumped from St James they decided not to stay at sleazy hotel. I guess all the hookers they kicked out of the club are now setting up shop next door because I've stayed there and didn't see any hoes.

As they were driving away, the stripclub down the street, Houston Dolls, was getting busted and they were carting out girls into the wagon. Don't ya just love election year?

The girls decided to visit our fine male strip club La Bare instead. In that area they made friend with a guy who has connections at the Men's Club. This is the best club in town to work with the lowest contact and least extras. They have a job there now!

Kat - why is club interested in barring you? I live near there, stop in sometimes, and have talked to managers on occasion - if anything, they're having trouble holding on to attractive dancers right now, and are not exactly looking to unload girls over single incidents, etc.

True, the girls on Tuesday night were very low-scale dancers for St. James. Usually the girls are pretty darn hot. Well, I assume all the girls that got arrested have been fired, and that's over 40 girls this summer. But the club has 1,500 dancers on as contractors. Trust me, they aren't taking any chances with the black marks, even if they don't remember what the drama was about.

I've worked a few times since the incident and only once did they call Randy to talk to me but they didn't record what actually happened, so he didn't remember. Maybe something did happen with my friend because they seemed to write down something in her record. Dunno.....

I am going to the Men's Club if I ever dance again in Htown anyway, which isn't particularly likely........

Don't know if it's true or not, but one of the girls there told me tonight that the club stepped up to the plate and paid to bail out the dancers who were arrested - and according to her, none of them were let go. And while they all seem to be very cautious right now, haven't noticed a significant decline in talent or customer base - instead, the girls are taking a little more time to get to know the customers and, when they take a customer to dance, they're all jockeying for the upstairs rooms as far in the back as possible.

I think its easier to work alone no matter what your doing. This way you don't have to carry anyone else's weight!
