    Default Same old conversation

Lately the worst thing has happened to me, even if my approach works enough to get me sitting and talking with a guy so that I can come up with something more creative and interesting than "wanna dance" after 5 to 10 conversations I sort of just want to go with the old "wanna dance" approach. I get sick of having the same exact conversation with every guy at the club. Its always about where they are from where they work what there job is like ... their wife kids etc. But its always the same. Twenty carbon copy conversations every single night. I can appraoch a guy with a sexy or funny line or I ask interesting questions, but no matter what I say to the guy the conversation always ends up the same. Does this happen to everybody or I am I the only girl here that this happens to. By the end of the night I need motivation to hustle with imigination instead of just going around and asking wanna dance. Help. : )

This is usually a sign that you need to take time out. Every time I reach this point where the conversations seem to be carbon-copies of themselves... it is also the same point where I need to take time out for myself AWAY from the industry.

    Just my take on it.

I wouldn't ask customers about their wives and kids. Some of them don't like to talk about their families because then they feel guilty that they're in the club instead of at home. I'd stick to asking their names, where they are from, etc. I like to ask guys what kind of music they like to listen to and if they've seen any good movies lately. I like to keep the conversation light.

Well...that brings up an interesting point. What would you dancers like us to discuss with you?

How about " I just found a whole lot of money; here, take some"

Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

I like to hear about the dancer. I know about my shit and why burden someone at their place of employment. I used to work in retail and older customers would always like to spend an hour talking about themselves...never would they be interested in me, it was like being a perky mirror with a smile...so now if a dancer wants to vent or just talk about her day or ambitions or whatever I'm happy to buy a drink and a dance. We're all human.

Seriously? That's it? You want us to just shut up and say "here's my money" and nothing beyond that?

I've never had a dancer ask me that...and I kid you not it would so totally trip my trigger. You'd score a dance easy.

I was in a club on Columbus Day once....my buddies and I asked trivia questions. That was funny. "What happened to give us the Columbus Day holiday?" "Um...didn't we dump tea in a river or something?"

A buddy of mine also challenged a dancer to arm wrestling for the cost of a dance. We were quite pleased when she won. We all chipped in. She got a most excellent tip.

 One of my favs always asks me how's the wife or g-friend and I keep having to tell her that I am single. She doesn't seem to believe me. So I finally said "ok next time do you want me to lie and say that I am married or have a SO?" According to her because "most the guys that she dances for are married or have a g-friend at home."

    Oh well

Here's the thing; there are certain topics people will talk about with someone they just met. It might be the twentieth time you've had that conversation, but for that guy it might be the first time that night he's talked to someone new. It's like when you go to a party and meet new people; you're going to ask and be asked stuff like "Where are you from?" all night long.

I absolutely love it when guys will talk about books, pop culture, politics, and sports with me. I have a couple of customers who I can talk about music with, some who like to rant about politics, and one who's a football nut, and I am always so happy to see them. Also we've already had the getting to know you chats, so we can have real conversations.

What I usually ask is where you're from, have you been here before, what do you like to do for fun, etc. Light stuff, not what they do for a living or their family situation.

I know it can seem repetitive, but each guy is a new story. Try to think of them as individuals.

So, should we answer "What do you do for a living?" by saying "eh, it's boring....you reading any good books right now?"

I spend a lot of club time with my regular ladies. Weve been hanging out so long we naturally talk about stuff that would be verbotten in a first meet conversation.

On the rare occasion that I hit a new club I like it when a dancers asks me about what I do for a living. Its technical and boring but I still like to talk about it I try to describe it in laymans terms

When the appropriate situation arises I usually ask the dancer about her education goals. To a woman they've said that they are going to college and almost have their degree. I suppose in some cases thats true but c'mon LOL University of Phoenix On Line doesnt count

Seriously, Im happy just to shoot the shit about whatever comes up. I enjoy hanging out time with the ladies and consider all forms of conversation as entertainment.

Once again I have embraced my addiction and have put off the moral dilemma to another day.

I have never turned down a dancer that comes up to me and sits on my lap, plants my face in her chest and whispers in my ear " want a dance?". If this works for me I'm sure it works for most men! That's all the conversation I need. I'm not there to talk anyway. That's my $.02

It's techinical and boring. Isn't that enough.

It would work for me! I probably wouldn't ask that question to begin with, unless the guy starts talking about what he does first. Some guys don't want to tell you for whatever reason, some think you're trying to figure out how much money you can get out of them or something. Guys can be very touchy about this shit. I once looked at a customer's watch to see what time it was, and he said, "Are you checking out my watch? Trying to see how much money I've got?" I kid you not. I was speechless.

Yuck, Susan, I hate guys like that. I can't believe they think it's okay to say stuff like that! Usually the guys who do are the same ones who will brag about how rich they are and never buy a dance.

Bottom line: we don't care about how much money they've got, we care how much they spend. What a guy does for a living is only our business or concern if he happens to want to talk about it.

I rarely mention what i do unless she happens to mention a PC problem, which has actually happened a few times believe it or not. I usually talk about life, movies, TV, music, interests, that sort of thing. Just standard small talk. Occasionally we'll find something in common and we can talk about that. A lot of the time i'll tell (quick) jokes. I dunno. I just goof around. But then i'll usually buy a couple of dances, unless the girl asks me to just sit with her (That's happened a few times, as well, from tired dancers).

Once i spent twenty minutes talking to a dancer about goofy stage names.

I usually talk about what they do, the weather, recent news, sports, books, or movies. Sometimes hobbies, and every great once in a while Quantum Physics. But only with a select few guys on that topic.
