Default fast food help!!!!

Okay ladies,

I have been dancing for about 2-3 weeks now and I noticed that is so hard for me to hit the gym how I was before since I work 6-12 and on the weekend 6-1am and i am working 4 days a week. I noticed when I wake up its lunch time and I grab some fast food and get ready for work. At work I don't eat anything I just drink tons of water. On my days off I hit the gym and don't know if i should keep up my cardio or not?

Please help I really want to stay on my diet!!!

I try to only eat at Subway ( no mayo, or oil) when I'm out.I don't eat meat so my options can be very limited.
Burger King, Wendy's , Mc Donald's and Carl's Jr. sell grilled chicken sandwiches. I know BK makes a claim that their's is very low in fat.
BK and Mc Donald's also sell veggie burgers that are lo fat too. The one from Mc Donald's tastes the best IMO. Carls' Jr and In & Out also sell burgers wrapped in lettuce, which cuts out a lot of carbs.
Most fast food places sell side salads, that what I always chose. I just either use a little bit of dressing or opt for fat free whenever possible.
MC Donald's, Wendy's and Carls' Jr. sell salads with chicken, I think Carl's Jr uses grilled chicken for their salads.

My new love...is me !

TACO BELL FRESCO STYLE!! get the grilled chicken taco.

Wendy's chicken grilled sandwich, mcdonald's grilled chicken.
Kfc just came out with a grilled chicken option on their menu.
(thats really good)

Subway is always a good choice, get low fat mayo, no oil.
I get chicken pizziolas, minus the pepperoni(which is really good!!!)

Make your own sandwich at home with lean deli meat. It takes 30 seconds to make, and you KNOW whats in it as far as calorie content...

Make a small salad, and pre-cook chicken so you can throw it in really quick before you go to work!

I stay stay with cardio if you can at the gym, but dont overdo it, because you will end up drained. Your body will tell you if you are!

Good luck sweetie!

Quizno's has the best turkey sandwich. It's called "Turkey Lite" So yummy & healthy, toasted whole wheat bread, smoked turkey with vinegrette on the bread, red onions, lettuce & tomatoe. A must try.

Also the saldas at Subway are good. I like that grilled chicken one with Spinach, tomatoes, almonds, low fat honey mustard, etc. Don't know the name but def. try that too. It's really good. Low carb also. Spinach is better than lettuce anyway, high in iron.

If you don't want to buy fast food, grill some chicken the day before & be creative with it the next day. Taste better that way too. Throw it in a pan with onions, red peppres, & low fat cheese. I don't know, there's lots of things you can make up with grilled chicken. My mom threw some in a pan with olives, onions, peppers, & canned veggies. It came out good.
Or even simpler, I love smoked turkey & swiss on whole bread sliced bread & deli mustard. That's it. No mayo.

Snacks: Eat lots of fruit. Nuts with no salt.

I'll post more options later, when I think of more.

cant ya pack a lunch? fresh fruit n veggies, or grab a salad if you must hit the fast food joints and supply your own fat free dressing (bring it along) if you order a chicken grill (never coated or deep fried) ditch the bun and condiments, eat the piece of grilled chicken and your salad and dont forget your multi vitamin!!

Bread when you are dieting uh NO. (personally I never eat bread ever) no croutons neither.

keep up on the water! yay!

Sometimes when you go somewhere you forget there is a difference between a 350 calorie splurge and a 1200 calorie splurge. Ewww... that's before fries and sugary sodas!!!

Girl I totally agree with the grilled chicken thing. Once a week I go and get 2 lbs of boneless, skinless chicken breast from the store. I slice it into strips and cook it in the pan with a little salt, pepper, and pam garlic cooking spray.

I also cut up red onions, green peppers, and maters and store then in air tight bowls in the fridge. I get deli wraps from the store, and when I get hungry I make an at home version of Subway's chicken bacon wrap.

All you gotta do is put the chicken and cheese on the wrap, nuke it for about 30 seconds, add the veggies and dressing and roll it up. Presto! You just saved yourself tons of money making it at home as opposed to going to Subway for one.

Chicken $5 per pound

Wraps $2 per 10 pack

maters $2 per pound (I usually only need a 1/2lb)

green pepper $ usually 2 for a buck

onions $1 per pound

cheese $2.50 for 8oz.

dressing $2 on sale

And my personal fav to add...
banana pepper rings $3 a jar

total cost for around 3 meals a day for 3 days

Less than $20, for 9 meals roughly.

As opposed to $5 per wrap times 9 =$45, now with the extra go get a nice shirt or handbag, or shoes or maybe that pedicure I have been wanting....

This is the most delicious salad ever.

Take some Roman & Iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, red ripe tomatoes, red onions, throw grilled chicken over it with some Balsamic vinegar, & maybe a tad of olive oil(optional). And viola, there's an awesome tasty salad.

Honey, you sound just like me. I had a strict workout plan and rarely ate fast food... and then I started dancing. The club is an hour and a half from home- so that's 3 hours on the road every day that I work, and I pass Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, McDonald's and Domino's Pizza on the way home. Yikes.... before I knew it, I was eating this crap 3 times a week and skipping the gym because I was too tired. Yikes.

At least you are realizing NOW that you're forming bad habits, before they get out of control and you gain weight. But keep in mind that dancing itself is decent exercise...despite the fact that I didn't go to the gym as much, I lost weight at first because of the exercise I got from dancing.
Now I pack healthy snacks in the car- low fat popcorn, dried fruit, etc.- to tide me over until I can go home and cook a healthy meal. Between that and the totally obnoxious guy at Jack in the Box who hits on me aggressively everytime I go there (which is the LAST thing I want after dealing with customers for 7 hours), I'm breaking my fast food habit, lol.
But I digress. You used to say that you cooked a bunch of food on Sunday and used it all week. Can't you still do that? It seemed to work for you. And as long as you still hit the gym on your days off, I wouldn't worry too much about exercise. On a good night at work you will rarely be off your feet!

I always get the roasted chicken or smoked turkey sandwich at subway, hold the cheese and oil, but they use light mayo by default at the subway I go to for some reason, so sometimes I splurge and put a LITTLE on, but usually mustard or hot sauce for me...I get it on the honey oat bread since i'm so not a low carb girl...never will be, and it seems the most substantial.
At McD's I get the grilled chicken sandwich on the whole wheat bun, and instead of fries I ahve it with the fruit and yogurt parfait, and top that off with a diet coke or a water.
If I want/craving grease, I will get a chicken nugget happy meal, and just give away my fries to someone usually, and maybe have a couple. It's 4 chicken nuggets, it ain't gonna kill ya, and it satisfies the craving.
If you're really lazy, keep a big bag of baby carrots in your car/locker/purse/bag/whatever...munching on those seems to curb me over until I can make a good decision about my eating, my friends make fun of me because I usually have at least some on me in a ziplock bag no matter what.
That's all I can really think of right now...other than, it's worth waking up the extra 15 minutes early to pack yourself some food to take with you if you are going out, that is for sure. But easier said than done, right?

Go to the grocery store and spend $100. Then you have no excuse what so ever to eat out. I don't cook but I am all about the frozen food.

After work I started smoking a cigarette on the way home and that made me quit the after work trips to Mcdonald's or taco bell.

i didnt read the whole thread however you can try doing what i do many times. I will cook twice a week. Ill make some foods and store them in containers. This way when i get up and want to eat or whatever it is already made. Now the only hard part is committing to 1 or 2 nights a week to cooking meals. You can also just try to avoid carbs especially bread.

Vynaka you should check out muscle maker grill. All healthy fod and so incredible. they even have low carb penne ala vodka and some good chicken dishes. Great food.

a really GREAT salad dresing is Oka's Soy Dressing...no sugar, no carbs, no fat, low cal....it's amazing on EVERYTHING!! Sometimes I sub it in for mayo and if I'm feeling too lazy or bored with my limited spice variety...I just grill up a chicken breast and then poor this dressing over it. It's nearly four dollars a bottle but man is it GOOD and good for you!!

I'm not sure if I'd advocate smoking as a way to curb food cravings.

Yeah no kidding, I don't either. (the smoking) but not to say I haven't done it myself.
My favorite meal replacement/energy bar right now is Gensoy the mint chocolate ones.
It tastes exactly like the chocolate minty girl guide cookies that are so yummy...not suitable for low carb diets though. Keep that in mind, it's soy protein.
Mmmm I keep one in my glove compartment for food emergencies, ever since I passed out at the gym last week (long story, also in this thread somewhere) and ended up in the hospital, i make sure i eat something before going to the gym, even if it cramps me up when i'm on the treadmill...it's worth it!
BTW, to the person about the whole wheat mcD's thing
I think it's called the Chicken McGrill on a whole wheat bun. They use barbeque sauce instead of mayo, it's super yummy, even though i'm not a mcD's fan. Anothing thing I looove, even though it's not really fast food but it's "going out" food. Vietnamese Pho. I love it, it's soup, I get spicy ones and they come with lots of lean protein and veggies...and it cleans you right out, plus you feel really full with not much calories. It's also fast, and cheap.
www.phohoa.com <---my favorite one, it's a big chain so maybe there is one near you? I can't remember where you live. Go to that site, and then locater to check.
Other than that, keep working it, drink water, and just be confident because you are doing awesome!

Fast food... Garden Salad YUM!!!

This is a definate problem with the dancers around here in Orchid Ave... there are soo many damn eateries due to being in the heart of Surfers Paradise (a tourist spot and a night 'out' spot). So many times I see dancers munching on pizza or other 'naughty' foods.

I will admit I've fallen prey too at times... I used to eat before I went to bed.. now I just don't eat at all after work. I strive to stick to my "3 hours before bed" rule... I'll have my last meal 3 hours before I actually 'hit the sack'.

Otherwise.. fast food wise.. Garden salads with fat-free or low-fat dressing and cheese... YUM! Subway if I must.. or even a Hungry Jacks Vegie Burger.

Ever since I've been on the Goji Juice.. it has increased my metabolic rate as well as made me crave less of the 'naughty' (well not so good for me) foods as well... so I don't find myself eating "fast food" alot.

Oh yeah... sushi or anything with rice (not fried rice.. cooked rice) is also decent enough. I strive to eat high protein foods before/during work as I want to stay alert.

Carboyhydrate meals such as pastas are good for if you want to encourage sleepy-ness... or you know you will 'burn it off'.

I'm not a diet person.. never been on one.. never will. I just strive to be active and watch my nutrition.

OH boy, what a subject this one is.. cause I am GUILTY! I have issues with grease, my body just can not deal with it but I do it anyways and then I live to regret it... lately, I've been really good, but for the last two nights I did the stuffed jalepeno's from JIB (YUMMY)

Honey, I suggest that you just stick to salads- you can get the pre made stuff in the bag at the store if you are short on time and top it with cheese and lean deli cuts- this is usually what I do, i'm the salad queen.. all I eat is salad with either steak, tuna or chicken.

In terms of gym workouts, I have a total Gym at home that I do 20 minutes per day, I also run three times a week, I make the time to fit it in.
