i would suggest doing a search on this since I know that it has been talked about here numerous times.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

I have done an at home brazilian many times. You have to trim to at most a quarter of an inch. I recommend sugar wax, because it's water soluble. That way you aren't stuck with wax residue between your legs (been there, NOT a good feeling). It helps to be flexible too, especially for getting to the hair "back there" if you know what I mean. I also use baby powder so the skin is absolutely dry and the wax grabs better.

I don't recommend this if you don't have high pain tolerance!

I've been a waxer since I was 12 years of age.. I'm now hitting 26 years old this year.. I'm totally used to the pain.

I would NOT recommend a brazilian wax to anyone who has been a shave-er. Why? Waxing rips the hair out by the roots... shaving makes sure the roots are nice and well developed.. it will hurt like a motherf--ker.

I know as I had a stint for a short period (a month or so) where I shaved before returning to waxing... and.. OUCH !!

Start off with a normal bikini wax.. and go from there.

You might even consider Nair (hair dipilatory cream) instead of waxing at first...

thanks for the tips. but I haven't shaved in *cough cough* about a month. Saph hangs her head in shame. Because I really really wanna do the brazilian wax. I think I can handle the pain. And I'm flexible enough.

But I will try your suggestion GCG of the bikini wax first...

I just recently did it myself...well actually, I got tired of freaking out by having a razor that near my ass...and the stubble/burn that came after. I used premade strips, but I don't think it really matters which kind you use...it really wasn't that bad. I say, book yourself an hour alone in the bathroom...with wax...and a mirror, and possibly some painkillers but yeah, It didn't hurt me much at all.

If you have never had a regular bikini wax I would recomend trying that first. It varies greatly from person to person but the pain can be extreme at times. I say try a regular bikini wax ( the outside bits) before trying a full on brazillian so you know what you are getting yourself into. You want to make sure the person who will be waxing you knows what they are doing. The very first time I got waxed the girl wasn't that good and kept having to go over the same spots two to three times to get all the hair out and I thought she would rip off all my poor kitties skin for sure. I quickly found a new salon the next time and it was better. As far as doing it at home it can be difficult at least for me anyways. I say this because while I can stand the pain if it someone else is pulling the strips but there is no way in hell I could inflict that kind of pain on myself. Good luck. Make sure and take some kind of pain killer about 30 min. before you get waxed. And to get an extra smooth effect after getting waxed ever so gently run a fresh razor over the just waxed skin.

I used to wax my own eyebrows and while I'm sure that's different, I know how to pull taut, take a deep breath, and rip!

Maybe tonight I will try the bikini area.

AinNY is a pro haha sounds like I need to get my b/f on the program.

I had my first brazilian wax about 4 months ago. I needed to be waxed right away so I walked in to a salon in a nearby mall plaza. They charged $35 dollars and it was the worse and most painful experience ever! And I usually have a pretty high pain tolerance.

The woman put baby powder on before hand and used strips with the wax. I was screaming and had my friend hold my arms down so I wouldn't hit the woman. I was bleeding and had large bruises afterwords. And she still missed lots of spots. I realized that something was wrong after the first couple strips, but I was already covered in wax, so I didn't have much of a choice, but to go through with the rest of it.

Do you think that the woman pressed too hard? Was doing it incorrectly? Maybe it was the type of wax? Are they suppose to use some sort of pain-reliver cream afterwords or what? I was in pain for a couple days and too bruised up to dance. It really looked bad.

Now, I'm afraid to go get another one, of course at a different salon. But I can't go through that experience again. I've been shaving, but need to do so almost everyday and keep breaking out. I was also thinking of doing it myself, since I wax my own eyebrows, but I'm also worried about the pain and if i'll get more bruising.
*yes, I'm still bruised and sore..*

Bleeding and bruising? Screaming and infections?
OMFG! I should not have read this.
I have an appointment for my first Brazilian tomorrow afternoon and I think I'll need to add a few valiums to the advil the beautician suggested. The thought of being completely excoriated in my crotch region freaks me out! I feel queasy.
I'll let you guys know how it goes tomorrow.

    HAHA...you're too funny

Its really not that bad...soem girls take it differently than others. But most girls I know that have done it have been OK.

My suggestion...take 2 or 3 advil about 30 min before hand. And just breathe while she does it. If she knows what shes doing it wont be too bad.

I let my ex try a piece on me just to see what it feels like down there...it stings..but its nothing that I couldnt deal with.

You'll eb fine...and if you need some help...let me know

I got my first and last brazillian wax a couple of months ago. It was absolutely the worst pain ever, and afterward I ended up with bumps that looked like little whiteheads, more of them than the few shaving bumps I get. I stick to shaving now, since I work at a nude club and cannot wait two weeks for everything to grow in to go back in. I find that shaving that area every workday with my chanel facewash works better than the shaving gel I use on my legs; I found that applying unscented deorderant to the outside skin (away from any opening) will keep bumps away.
Distortureddoll, it sounds like you got a really bad wax job. I would not have done anything that made me bleed or bruise, and I was given baby powder only to keep my hand from sweating so much. Maybe the wax was too hot and took skin with it? I paid $65 for mine at my usual salon.
...and the day came, when the risk it took to remain closed in a bud became worse than the risk it took to blossom.

I've decided to wait until the weekend to try.

But I wanted some clarification beforehand:

Cleanse, dry throughly, sprinkle baby powder.
The wax is smoothed on in the direction of hair growth.
    Muslin is applied.
Skin held taut & muslin ripped off against hair growth.
    apply pressure to soothe

    Am I right?

Also, how big of a section should I do at a time?

That's definately a possibility that the wax was too hot, because it did take skin off. I'm still really paranoid about getting it done again though. I didn't break out as much from shaving when I lived up north, but since I moved to the south... there's more perspiration. Maybe I'll try the deoderant thing after shaving. Any recommendations on the type of deodarent to use?

I just did most of my bikini area and it wasn't too bad except I start to yelp a little in the end. And I still have wax clumps on my skin that I can't seem to get off so I will see about getting sugar wax(?) to avoid that. The mons part is gonna hurt bad I know it is.

The first couple times maybe about the first 4 times I had a brazilian (complete) I bruised in the area between where my labia meets my legs you know that little area because it was just a senstitive area. Well the last time I bruised or got a wax burn was because I went to a new waxer that really didn't know how to wax very well. The thing that hurts me the most still during a brazilian wax is the plucking of stray hairs afterwards.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

I get Brazilians regularly and have noticed the muslin strips hurt hundreds of times worse than the kind of wax that doesn't use them (I think it is called French wax?). The stripless wax is a lot gentler on the skin.
