    Default New Tattoo on Back

Hey all! How ya doin'? I got a tattoo a few days ago and it's hurting soooo bad! It isn't my first and it isn't the largest but it was the most painful. Maybe it's the location? It's on the back of my neck and goes down between my shoulder blades. It's really pretty and has a lot of color but it still hurts like crazy and burns when I put the lotion on it. Has anyone else been tattooed in the same area? How long did it take to heal? I've been putting light gauze over it when I'm out and it helps from getting rubbed on. Did any one else's tattoo hurt like this? I'm having a hard time cleaning it as well unless I just hop in the shower a few times a day.

I had one done on my shoulder blade and it hurt like a mutha! It was about 8 years ago, but from what I remember it healed in around a week maybe 2. It is about a 4" diameter circle (is that right? been out of school a while) and it hurt 5x as much as the 10" one on my thigh. Are you using any lotion on it? Bag Balm & lubriderm work really well. Have someone help with the cleaning/ lotion.

It's a pretty good size. It sort of branches out towards my shoulders and now it's starting to itch. Nice. Well, if it's a week to go, I can hang... Not that I really have a choice anyway. It's a fantastic tattoo and I've just been jumping in the shower to clean it instead of trying to use the sink and not make too much of a mess.

I have a huge tat that's right there in the same place as yours... For the first week for all of my new tats I use a Bacitracin Zinc Ointment with the hydrocortisone (that will stop the itching) Then the next week I'll move on to aquaphor with a little bit of hydrocortisone. The third week after the peeling I use eucrin (spelling?) ultra moisture. In the shower since the day after getting the tat I use an antibacterial soap like surgeons use to scrub with before surgery. For a couple days mine was sore like a muscle pull I could only really feel pain or ache when I tried to sleep on my back other than that I was fine.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

Have you tried using A&D ointment? One of my friends has a tat on the upper middle of his back and said it hurt like hell until I bought him the A&D ointment and rubbed it on the tat for him. He put that on 2-3 times a day, made sure to let it get some air and not get it wet the first few days and he was healed in about 2 weeks. Take care!
