Hi all, missed you much. I am on St. Thomas in the USVI on a booking. This is the first time I have had a chance to get on the net for a while.
I would like some advice, please: situation number one- I ran into an old boss of mine from before my dancing days....at the local hangout bar on this end of the island...at his ENGAGEMENT PARTY! I also had a mad crush on him back in the day and asked him out once. So he knows how I felt. Well, dear readers, I fibbed about why I was on this fair island so far from our home state of California....he asked if he could introduce me to his friends and fiancee and I ducked that invite as nicely as possible. What do I do now? Avoid him (dicey- small island, everyone runs into people they know all the time) invite him to lunch to tell him tactfully why I'm here and what I'm doing, or wait for his bachelor party to cruise into the strip bar and let him find out that way?
Yes, it's okay if you're laughing. What a quandry.
Situation number two: this has been a rough booking due to weather and other unfortunate events, and I have been advised to pack up and go home. But, I love this island and want to stay. I can get another non-dancing job, but not until the tourist season picks up. At the moment, I'm content but stuck. Any traveling dancers with similar experiences are welcome to comment. I will check back here as soon as I can. Thanks, love, madmax.
