    Default Corp.Thugz again

After buying a used Toy.'97, & a dealer warranty, & 2 mos. later being told by Toy. Corp. that my warranty was not valid, I purchased my own warranty online. Since dealer warranty was put on a credit card, I called card co. & disputed, while telling dealer I didn't want it. Recently, cc sends me letter sayin' "we are unable to assist w/disputes involving warranties/rebates." ???Yet, they had no probl. charging card for it. Went to dealer twice (in person) to clear up. They said that although my orig. warranty had been cancelled, they put another one thru, & I agreed to it. ???So they'll cancel THAT one, but I'll be less some $ for the time frame (about 3 mos.) it was supposedly in effect. Just waiting to see what that will be. What a freakin' mess!

Just within the past four or five days, the Wall Street Journal reported that Toyota sales around the world are way up, largely from the hybrids and fuel efficent SUV's they produce.
The cars are considerd very reliable. Interestingly, the article pointed out the most glaring weakness in the US Toyota distgribution system is their dealerships and the people who own them.

Surveys have continually pointed out that the Toyota dealers in the US are considered by
a majority of Toyota customers to be a "problem." In fact your comment and title about thugs may be quite correct when referring to a Toyota dealer.

Consistent feedback about trying to deal with a toyota dealers shows the following words, Arrogant, conceited, ripoff and crook.

This probably occured when in the late 50's the only car people Toyota could get were the
"defrocked" margianalized dealers who Ford, GM and Chysler had fired.

Never by a car warranty from a third company insurance company.. only from the manufacturer. Many manufacturers won't cover used cars so that might be the start of your problem in that you start out dealing with shady insurance companies.

Kind of like the Life Insurance scandals of 1890-1910 when many people were bilked out of life insurance death claims and is one of the reasons that mutual co ops insurance companies were trusted. (They've all become stock money grubbers again so stay tuned for the next scandal there.)

My next car will be a Honda or a Toyota hybrid. I presently have two what I thought were fuel efficent Chyslers but with gas at $2.05 they aren't efficent enough now. (I am aware of the investment payback issue on the premium charged to actually own a hybrid car.)

While I give the edge to Toyota, the Honda dealers consistently rate high in customer satisfaction. My last new chevrolet was in 1981 and I said never again and haven't bought one since.

As Toyota is flush with cash, here is their chance to lock the US market for the next 100 years by buying out, suing and replacing all of their marginal bad dealers.

Again my source on the "bad Toyota dealer problem" is the Wall Street Journal and Toyota surveys.

TY, Niceguy. I got a Hyundai Accent '04, w/10k miles on it, & bal. of warranty. It was recommended to me by two guy friends. They said it has one of the best warranties, & they both really enjoy the car. It seems to get a little better gas mileage too. I would also have liked to get a hybrid, if I had the $. Hopefully next time. Also when I talked to Toy. Corp. they were very um, indifferent. Thanks again.

Yep, Moj. I talked to the dealer's office person today. She said I'd be getting a refund, (I asked how much, & she didn't know, but said they asked for a full refund for me). I won't see a credit until around 10/14/04.
