I just wanted to share this with the board and see if anyone had similar experiances. I am in a Pubic speaking course for college and we all had to share our topic ideas with the class for the semester. This topic will work for both an informative and a persuasive speech. When it was my turn to state the topics i was pondering.... i said "gender stereotypes, religion tolerance.... and finally the "Exotic Dance Industry"... Well i may as well haveb brough in a comedians videotape or something because the whole class just started laughing... I don't mean a few chuckles.... but roaring laughter...The teacher really didnt say much but i said ok i think ill just go with gender stereotypes....(hint of sarcasm as i said it). Anyway i thought this presentation was a nice change of topic because alot of people picked topics such as disease,,, smoking ect. It would have also been a good chance to shed light on dancers and our stereotypes. Then at the end some guy laughed and said.." Oh i would like to have heard the point of action for the exotic topic) The point of action is the part of the speech where we set a little controvery. Anyway, I'm not upset or embarrased.... just a little puzzled,,,. It's ashame how people are so quick to judge...
