Default 4 Vitamins for Silky skin

    4 Vitamins for Silky Skin

If you want to give your skin that enviable glow, you need to take your vitamins. And sometimes that means wearing them! These four vitamins will help make your skin silky smooth, reports Prevention magazine.

    Vitamin A
Since most of us get enough vitamin A in the foods we eat, especially from sweet potatoes, baby carrots, mango, spinach, cantaloupe, milk, and egg yolks, it's not necessary to take a supplement. Besides, too much vitamin A is actually dangerous and could make you more susceptible to a hip fracture. But topically, vitamin A can do wonders for your skin. Prevention magazine notes that it has been clinically shown to clear up acne and reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores. Vitamin A creams are available by prescription, as well as in less potent over-the-counter formulas.

    Vitamin B
Foods rich in vitamin B-6 and B-12 include salmon, flounder, chicken, turkey, and beef. Provided you're getting enough of the B vitamins in your diet, a supplement will not noticeably improve your skin. But new research shows that when vitamin B-5, also known as panthenol, and vitamin B-3, or niacinamide, are added to skin care products, they help hydrate your skin and even-out your skin tone.

    Vitamin C
Too much sun can lead to wrinkles and skin cancer. Vitamin C helps to counteract the effects of the free-radical damage caused by too much sun. The experts advise you to wear it and swallow it! When vitamin C is used in skin care products it can enhance collagen production--but it must be in an effective, stable form to work. Prevention advises you to look for labels with the words "L-ascorbic acid," "ascorbic palmitate," or "magnesium ascorbyl phosphate." In addition to supplements, you can eat your vitamin C in papaya, broccoli, oranges and orange juice, strawberries, kiwi, grapefruit and grapefruit juice, and even raw peppers.

    Vitamin E
A daily vitamin E supplement daily of 400 IU can help reduce wrinkles and improve the texture of your skin. Prevention recommends that you look for labels on the supplements that say "natural" or "d-alpha tocopherol." Foods rich in vitamin E include sunflower seeds, wheat germ, peanut butter, almonds, canned salmon, canned tuna fish, olive oil, and lobster.

probably that absolute best "vitamin" for great skin, and defiantely the most unknown is a supplement called MSM. This is organic sulphur and is totally lacking in modern food.

"MSM is a naturally-occuring form of dietary sulfur found in fresh raw foods that are involved in the cycle of rain. MSM is deficient in foods grown in greenhouses or in foods grown through irrigation. MSM is volatile and destroyed by cooking. In the body, MSM softens leathery internal tissues by rebuilding connective tissue with elastic sulfur bonds. This is how MSM lives up to its reputation of building collagen and maintaining healthy joints. This is also why MSM increases flexibility (good for yoga), hastens recovery time from sore muscles, and is excellent for recovery from athletic injuries.

Because of its collagen-building properties, MSM creates smooth skin, thick lustrous hair, and strong nails. MSM makes the tissues more permeable so that they may move nutrients in and toxins out with greater ease. MSM has a remarkable effect at neutralizing foreign proteins (i.e. allergens, toxins, undigested food) making it anti-inflammatory. MSM works particularly well in conjunction with vitamin-C rich foods."

I used CellexC a few years back. I used the whole line for face and mbody. If you decide to use it be sure to protect your skin with tons of sunscreen and big floppy hats. I found that I got the same of better results by a taking Vitamin C supplements orally.
Anyway, here is a website that explains more about the product.

You're welcome. I have tons of sun damage too Pam. I used to live in the tanning beds and sometimes even do double sessions

Cellex-c did help alot but, no one even told me to use sunscreen with it and I never thought about it either. So I ended up with nice skin but, blotches all over. I am sure you'll see great results if you take Vitamin C orally and use it on your skin too.

Oh, one more thing. Cellex-c stains can stain blonde and white clothing so be careful when you use it.

    Farrah,

I know it has been said a thousand times already, but you are the health and beauty guru- you should write a book! I always take your advice.

Ok went out tonite and bought some Cellex-c. Will start using it during the day i guess so it does not rub off or stain my pillow cases. Lol. I will wear sunscreen with it, as i live by sunscreen anyway now.

I also have Vitamin C tablets, i will be taking them again. I stopped, not good.

Thanks Farrah! You are a sweetheart

    Hey Pamela,

Its probably to late now but I came across this product on line

    http://www.complexc.com/main.html

It looks pretty good and even has a many back guarantee.

Also just a point about Vit C for all of you taking it..... Its best to take it in a power form with bioflavanoids in it. Make sure its a buffered form of Vitamin C..... lots of brands make a product such as 'ester-c' or the likes. It is alot more potent and absorable in this form and the tablets also contain alot of sugar.

Evening Primrose oil tablets are also a good one to add to Farrahs already fantastic list. Really good for menstural cramps and other 'girlie' problems.

I know people taking Tonalin mentioned an improvement in skin texture and feel...I got that from L-Lysine and Glutamine.
Fish oil pills sound gross, but really do improve skin elasticity.
AND don't forget sex is great for a glowing complexion ; )
