    Default *sigh* Just my LUCK!!

Just got into a bad car accident, ugh. Now I have to pay for mine & the guy I hit car damages. My life can't possibly get any easier!! Good thing this man is not going to contact my insurance though, so it wont(hopefully) go up any higher. But I did get a police report bc the cops got there too quick. And he even told me I don't have to get a report, just pay for the damages(which of course i'm not bitching about that, I was the one who fucked up)....but I was so nervous I couldn't move or think. This sucks, i'm in aweful debt now this crap. I wanna kill myself! Hopefully fixing a back bumper isn't too expensive. Any of you guys know?

    Thanks, needed to vent.

His car wasn't new & it looked like a kutlass or a buick. Thank God. It's just his bumper is messed up, it looks like it's gonna fall down. And it's dent it. I hit him hard, but we're all ok...thank God.

Gotta love old cars and they're old styled bumpers that can take a lickin'

I have no idea...500 - 1000 would be my best wild ass guess. Did you offer him free lapdances for a month?

Bumper for an old Ford or something $2-400, bumper for a BMW... at least a grand.

Now....I did say it was a wild-assed guess. I'm sure the bumper itself will cost a couple hundred at least, then the labor to remove the old and install the new...just hope that there was no other damage to the brackets...but if it looks like it's falling off, then chances are it was built to do so in order to absorb the shock.

Very true, I need a drink.

Hey, you know what's funny though....lol. First thing I checked when it happened was my boobs..... That was my very first initial reaction, lmao! I was like, "OMG, I hope none of my boobs popped!!!" LMAO!! But of course, those things can't pop even if a car ranned over them.

Depending on the age of the car and the angle at which you hit him, there may be frame damage as well as a dented bumper. What you need to do is let it go thru your insurance so an adjuster can look at it, he will be able to talk to the body shop manager and find out the extent of the damage and if the guy is trying to claim old damage as new etc....
The year also determines cost of parts...replacement bumpers for an 80's buick or cutlass for instance can run between 90-200 bucks new...or cheaper at a junkyard....

I smashed the bumper of a Chevy Beretta one time it was $1200 for his and $1400 for mine. I was driving a new chevy truck but this was back in 92. If the car you hit actually had a bumper it could be less. If it had a "bumper" like all new cars have it could be $1200 or more there are a lot of parts behind the "bumper" of a car now days.

I know this might sound paranoid, but after you pay him, have him sign a waiver (and get a receipt!) that he won't attempt to sue you for more damages.....I saw something like this on People's Court once. He doesn't sound like someone that would, but you never know. Anyhow, glad you're both ok. And once you start dancing, you'll recover the money easily. Take care

Well, im guessing he will want you to buy a new bumper and get it replaced, BUT if you can get away with it, a USED bumper will be much cheaper.

Check around at some junkyards, sometimes you can do a search online too. Hopefull you can go to an auto body specialist that you are familiar with, and wont charge you an arm and a leg.
You should DEF shop around for prices.
If the guy wants a new bumper, and wants you to go to a certain auto body guy etc, i would consider looking to your insurance for it. Believe it or not, but my friend did like 5k worth of damage to a car(his fault) and his insurance didn't go up one bit!!!!
