Default An ancient beauty secret... dry brushing.

    Hey guys,

Here is a little something I have been doing for a few years that I thought I would share. Its called dry body brushing and it has been used by the yogis as a cleanser and detoxify for centuries. Not only does it help rid the body of wastes but it also keeps you skin smooth and clear. It cleans in a way that no soap can and assists your body in detoxification as it does so. All you need is a natural bristled brush or loofah, scrub you entire body before you jump in the shower starting at your feet and working your way up. Take about 5-10 mins to do it and avoid the face as the bristke can be quite harsh. It may hurt a little the first time but your skin will get used to it and you will enjoy the benfits

If you want more info just do a websearch under 'dry body brushing'.

    Have fun.

Dry brushing is a great way for the body to be able to get rid of lots inside and out. It's a great way to help cellulite bands break up!

I have been doing this (and mentined on the board) for years off and on. I admit i get lazy and stop for months, but when i stick to 3 times a week dry brushing i see my skin with a glow, and i feel better.

Dry brushing does work wonders! As i also do my face, i have a natural boar bristle brush and go it lightly! No peoblems so far.

Hey i'm 42 years now! I am blemish free, cellulite free and wish to get even better, especially when people tell me i look 32

Oh, thanks Krys!! I've noticed my usually silky skin is having dry spots and I'm tired of stocking up on more lotions. I will definitely try this!!

    Happy to share.

Its great for all those dry spots Venus, a really good thing to do too if you have time is to slather your skin with either almond, coconut or seasme oil after you brush and before you jump in the shower. When you get out of the shower your skin will be nice and soft

Let me know how you guys go.

P.S Nice to know my little secret pays off... you look great Pamela! I will certainly keep my dry brushing up if it means I can look as good as you later in life!

And yes if your skin isn't too sensitive you can use a soft loofah pad to do your face.

so you scrub your skin with the brush or loofah with nothing on your skin then you hop in the shower?

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

No its different to a mircodermabrasion cloth... it is a type of exfloiation but it does alot more for the body then the cloth does.

Does anyone know if this brushing harmful to stretch marks? Make them worse. I brushed my skin hard last night, but it was in the shower with water & soap. I did it differently, lol.

That site said to always brush towards the colon. What exactly does that mean? Body parts below the butt you stroke up and body parts above the butt you stroke down??

From the feet brush up the legs... from the hands brush up the arms. Moving towards the heart.... it just goes with the flow of the lymph system in the body and helps cleanse.

Like Krys says brush upwards. This improves circulation, and helps aid the heart. I just step in the shower, before i turn on the water i start from feet and work up. Always just dry brushing straight to the top of my face. Then i turn on the water and wash!

Another tip, Try to dry brush in the shower or outside, we shed skin that dust mites love to eat, and i don't want "extra" skin or "pests" laying on my couch or bathroom floor.

You can not hurt yourself dry brushing. Just remember go it light at first, and natural bristles are by far the best. I have a hair brush i use just for this.

I (doing this off and on for along time) will often times take my brush and tap pretty hard at times on my upper thighs and butt! This will get deeper into the skin and improve better circulation.

I as well have a bread roller i use pretty damn hard on my thighs, i feel bands of what i think may be fat, and i have been known to bruise myself, but it feels great 2 days later!!!

Watch the pain tolerance. Try not to hurt yourself if you do what i have done.

Good luck, PS thanks Krys, i feel great!
