Whats the deal with South Beach and how are you finding it Vyanka?
I was a strict veggie for years but recently switched over... I have started going to the gym and weight training regularly so I am trying to adhere to the smaller meals more often idea. My daily diet is normally something like this:
#1 apple, 3/4 C oats (uncooked) 1 scoop isowhey powder, 1 tBsp L.S.A powder (linseeds, sunflower and almonds good for omega 3,6) with water.
Green tea
#2 shake (before gym)- frozen berries, whey powder, plain no fat yoghurt, water, L.S.A
#3 salad with lettuce, cucumber, asparagus, sweet potato, and protein (chicken or fish)
or/ brown rice, egg whites, broccoli
#4 (occsionally) as above
#5 veges with tempeh or tofu or beans
Slight variations here and there but I am feeling pretty good eating this way.
I am taking quite alot of supps right now for different reasons;
A, Bs, C, D, E, MSM, chromium, zinc.
Aswell as a green drink every morning.
k

This is a regular day minus PMS craving days
Morning- protein shake or coffee
Lunch- some type of protein( lunchmeat, chicken, fish, eggs, tempeh, tofu) and some type of veggie and a salad with baslamic vingar
Dinner- Pretty much same as lunch
snack whenever during the day- fruit or fresh veggies
I stay away from shadow veggies like potatoes or yucca. Also red meat tends to not settle well with my stomach. I stay completely away from rice (yes even brown rice) and breads since it makes me bloat and hold water. I get all my veggies, fruits, and my proteins from Whole foods since I can tell the difference in quality and taste; especially in chicken.
then on top of it I take two multi vitamins a day.
I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

IT's sort of like the diet you're doing here. Avoiding sugar, bad carbs like white bread & white rice, & no grease such as bacon, whole milk, & fried foods etc. This is a good healthy diet, better than Atkins for me. Not knocking off the Atkins though, bc my cousin did it exactly how it should be done & it worked great for her. She went by the book & lost lots of weight & she was healthy. But since hse had a baby, she couldn't do Atkins anymore bc she was breast feeding. Now I think she's either going to try South Beach or Weight Watchers. Which btw, I don't know how weight watchers is but heard it was good for some too. But Atkins is not for me bc I don't gain lots of weight that easy & this is good for those who have thyroid(sp?) gain it easily. I gain it minimal, it goes straight to the lower body....which I hate, lol.Originally Posted by krys link=board=5;threadid=13579;start=msg177614#msg177 614 date=1095626272

I too get bloated when I eat brown rice, that's why I eat small amounts of it. Because I stay hungry sometimes when it comes to dinner.Originally Posted by Muyaha link=board=5;threadid=13579;start=msg177624#msg177 624 date=1095627079

Oh yes all organic fruit/vege/chicken/eggs... well everything really![]()

Ok here's my daily diet:
Morning: Special K, Cheerios, or Wheaties cereal, sometimes toasted wheat bread with butter. Although i'm not suppose to eat butter by doing the South Beach, so I put a little. My coffee with a little fat free milk or Soybean sometimes, with a little of that powdered thing called Cremora I think. Forgot the name, & I put Splenda sugar in it.
Lunch: I really don't get that hungry at lunch, but when I do i'll order me a grilled chicken salad with balsamic vinegar. Or i'll order a sandwich from Quiznos, only the turkey lite. It's whole wheat bread, smoked turkey, fat free vinagrette, lettuce, red onions & tomatoes. My fav., so good. Or the usual, nuts or fruit....or both.
Dinner: Brown Rice, sometimes with canned veggies cooked in it or broccoli , Chicken breasts, & side salad. I mainly eat this everyday. Or sometimes i'll eat a eggplants lasgna my mom makes. So good & healthy, it has pieces of chicken, mozz, tomatoes, & other veggies in it. No junk & it tastes just as good as the regualar lasgna.
I intake Vitamin E & Silica supplements for the hair, skin & nails. I'm gonna purchase a bottle of Vitamin C soon.
***I also try not to eat white potatoe, red are good but I try not to eat those either.***
Any suggestions or is my dieting good enough? Opinions gals.![]()
I think you are doing pretty well, there are only a few things I can think of that might help. Split your 3 main meals into 5 or 6 small ones during the day, even if it's some nuts and a piece of fruit...just to keep your metabolism revved. It's really bad to skip "lunch" for that exact reason, your metabolism shuts down midday, and you could be missing out on some serious calorie burning time. Also, some processed cereal (Cheerios) seem more nutritious than they really are. They are fairly processed, and don't contain a lot of fibre or nutrients...but if it gets you to eat in the morning, go for it. And yes, although potatoes are high carb, they are filling and full of anti-oxidants and tons of vitamin C. Other than that, I think you are doing great!
Keep up the good work dear
I usually have tea, water, some fruit and yogurt, and sometimes some whole wheat toast in the morning when I first get up (I reaaaally hate eating in the morning, but I do it anyways) Sometimes I just have an energy bar with water and fruit because my stomach hates eating that early. If I wake up early enough, I have an omlette with low fat cheese and tons of veggies in it (I use whole eggs, insert gasp here)
About an hour later I have a piece of fruit.
Lunch could be a turkey sandwich with salad, whole wheat pasta with salad, or sometimes just a big salad (Big salad fan here)...If I eat out, I have something at subway, or the Whole wheat Chicken McGrill at McD's if my friends i'm eating with feel like having grease (although I opt out...usually, hehe)
After or right before lunch is when I go to the gym, so I usually have an apple and grab a skim latte on my way back to classes. When I get home, i'll have whatever, some whole wheat crackers or some salad for a snack. Dinner is usually lean protein (Chicken, fish, turkey, sometimes lean pork) with a salad, and a few types of cooked veggies. Ta Da, this is what Tiffany eats when she is being good, which is MOST of the time.![]()

Thanks Farrah, I probably will try this stuff now.
Hey, does anyone know if taking in too many vitamin supplements can be harmful? Serioulsy heard this once, that taking too much vitamin can be bad for you. ???I don't know bc at the moment, i'm only taking Vitamin E, Silica(for the hair, skin& nails), & going to get a bottle of Vitamin C & start taking multis. Is that too much?

Some vitamins can be toxic in large amounts, oil soluble ones like A, and D but you have to take a large amount for them to be toxic. Most other vitamins are water soluble and the are excreted out of the body if you take too much. Alot of vitamins actually need to be replaced everyday so I would recommend taking a good multi vitamin everyday at the least.

A peice of fruit on the way out the door in the morning
Little wrapped sausage jerky things from the candy machine between class.
Meatloaf or a somewhat healthy leftover for lunch with a ton of water and Tonalin CLA and LPP Protein.
Water, veggies, tea...
If I go to work I'll stop on the way and get a wendy's chili or salad.

I am very impressed with everyones diets. Having worked at quite a few clubs and seeing what most girls eat, I didn't think any girls knew how too eat right.
All the girls I have seen eat fast food and drink, or don't eat anything at all. I used to do the not eating thing, but finally stopped that.
Tiff and a few of the other girls are right on the money with the 5-6 small meals. You really need to do that, it will give you more energy and as stated before, will keep your metabolism going. The other really important thing, especially if your working out, is protein. Try having one serving a protein with each meal, that will help maintain muslce and burn more fat.
I used to eat pretty bad, or not eat much of anything until my boyfriend (now fiance, we just got engaged this weekend) came around.

Just started with the small meals today.
So far:
Morning, two slices of toasted wheat bread with a bit of butter.
Snack 2 hours later, a peach & an apple
Lunch time two hours later: Toasted wheat bread with smoked turkey, swiss, let. & tom. with vinegar & oil.
1 hour later snack: mixed nuts with dried fruit.
Dinner, not sure yet...most likely meat & salad.
