    Default live music

The discussion on pool tables and loud music brought back a memory that I had forgotten. Long ago (before most of you dancers were born) I recall being in several strip clubs that had house bands providing live music for the dancers. It usually wasn't very good but it was kind of fun, sort of like a jazz club with strippers. I was just wondering if any such places still exist. Playing in a band in a strip club is my idea of the perfect job. Anyone know of a strip club that sometimes has live music?

I think live music is only reserved for burlesque shows, nowadays.

My club has live bands play Sunday nights. There is another place in town that does it to. Its such a sleazy dive that most guests only come in for music.

I love the concept and wish we had it more!

MojoJojo, actually the place I was thinking of was pretty sleazy. But I like your idea as long as it doesn't include high prices like it usually does. How about jam sessions once a week? I've got my sax all ready to go. Just tell me when and where.

I really enjoy live music so it would probably distract me from the task at hand

If anyone wants to see sort of a Hollywood-esque presentation of what FONDL is describing, I recommend renting the movie Auto Focus about the life of Hogan Heroes star Bob Crane. Interesting picture. Crane's downfall sort of began with him going to strip clubs with friends where the band would often have him play drums.

As far as bringing live music back, I'm with FBR. The big screen televisions are already distracting my attention enough from the purpose at hand. If I want live music, I'll go to a club that specializes in it.

As I recall the bands weren't usually good enough to be very distracting. It was more about atmosphere than good music. Anyway it was kinda fun. And in those days the dancing was more about strip-tease than today's dancing, the girls usually ended up with tops and bottoms still covered. I think I like today's way better.

In even classy stripclubs most are going to jukeboxes. The club makes it money off, dances, dollars in the jukebox, cover charge and any other way they can think up.Clubs have become cheap and greedy using and abusing dancer and customer alike.

"Cheap and greedy, using and abusing worker and customer alike." Sounds like most businesses to me.

That sounds like fun though it would probably need to be a paid gig in order to be feasable! The only time I ever stripped to live music was when I worked at a Black Flys party which was a paid gig.

20 years ago I played in a band and we did work the occasional strip club gig. Of course, back then, clubs paid shift pay to dancers and paid us our cut out of the door fee. The modern strip club is based pretty much on dancers paying the club support staff out of dance fees, house fees and tips while management keeps everything else. I can't see too many club owners springing for live music in this day and age. Besides. If there is an empty stage, guys want to see a naked woman on it.
