I'm really trying to motivate myself to run or swim more each week. How much do you do, and is it helpful?
Less than 1 hour a week
1-2 hours a week
Half an hour three times a week.
An hour three times a week.
Half an hour every day.
An hour every day.
More than an hour every day.

I am always working out to relieve stress from being a stripper.

Well, being a dancer you get quite a bit a cardio. So, there really would only be a need for 2-3 more days a week, of brisk walking, running, or biking. The one bad thing about swimming is that most people can't swim constantly for long enough (like 20 minutes) to keeep the heart rate up and burn much fat.
But weight lifting is more important then everything for us dancers, because that is what we are lacking most. So, I lift 3-4 days a week, usually 3 though, and that will help more then a lot of cardio.
kickboxing and Pilates

I do about an hour of cardio 7days a week. Saturday and Sunday I take it pretty easy with a few games of tennis. Monday-Friday my cardio is pretty intense.
I don't feel like I get enough of a workout at work, because I'm moving, then stopping, then moving, then stopping, etc.
"This above all: to thine own self be true."
Well besides my vigorous 4 night per week schedule with the pole, I swim, free-style dance and do sit-ups, push-ups, squats, etc... about 3 times a week for about a half hour to an hour at a time.![]()
I swim and run when I can...cardio is super-important, heart disease is the leading killer of Americans......isn't sex a cardio activity too? ; )

I used to do 3-4 30-45 min sessions a week on the elliptical, now with school and work I can't find the time now I'm really lucky if i do 20 mins 2 times a week on the elliptical..really lucky

I walk for an hour about 3 times a week on as many hills as I can find! I am going to get back into pilates and yoga too. Weight lift for my arms right now.

what the hell is cardio?

Cardio is anything that helps your heart as such. Anything like walking, running, and so forth. It is for "fitness" not just to tone your body.
Personally, I walk alot or ride my bicycle (when the weather is right and I'm motivated). Dancing in and of itself can be a good workout... also the walking that you do at work.. up and down stairs... around the club.. that is cardio.
Therefore I don't really do much outside of work. Pilates also to assist in all of this.

I think she was kidding...I think?
I don't do ENOUGH cardio at the gym. For whatever reason i'm way more motivated to lift weights than I am to do cardio. I'm at the gym 5 days a week, but it's usually 20-30 minutes cardio (and not even that intense) and an hour of weights. I'm changing it so that I have two days where I do an hour of cardio and no weights, and 3 days of 20-30 minutes cardio and an hour of hard lifting. I like having my weekends off, periodically i'll go to the gym on weekends...but generally they are my time off.
lol no really i had NO idea what cardio is.
i walk to the convienace store, and have a small hill to walk up to get to work. does that count? skipping is cardio aye? i dont do it, but i remember at school, we had some jump rope for heart day,to raise money for the heart foundation.
i hate excercise.
dont do it... should, but i dont.
I've been going to the gym 4-5 days a week and doing a half hour to 40 minutes of cardio (30 on the elyptical machine and 10 walking around the track) and then a half hour of strenth training. I've been trying to eat better as well.
"And Bill, lamenting how you never see a positive drug story on the news..."Today, a young man on acid realised that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration and that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and you are the imagination of yourself. Here's Tom with the weather...!"- Bill Hicks, The Greatest Comedian Ever!
2-3 days a week, either 30 min. or 1 hr. of cardio, and another 2 days weight lifting. And that's at the gym. Of course my real cardio workout comes from dancing! lol
Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's rain

I don't do too much exercise however I do strive to be active. That's the key: activity. Regardless of the type of activity from chores such as vacuuming, dusting and so forth to walking up/down hills or stairs to work (or even inside the club).... it all counts. It is all cardio .... just a lighter milder version.i hate excercise.
dont do it... should, but i dont.
If you lead an active lifestyle... then you won't really "need" to exercise... you already are!![]()

So funny that everyone considers exotic dancing as cardio b/c at work (PEC) I rarely dance!! And i make serious $$$$!!! I give a few dances here and there but not nearly enough to consider it cardio. I guess you girls from outside of NYC really have to work hard for $$. I talk good game, even in the private rooms it's more of an invasion of their mind than the bumping and grinding.
Besides that, I have a very toned physique that takes an amazing amount of planning and calculating and lots of hard work to maintain. By that I mean, I calculate, using a heart rate moniter (works wonders BTW) to calculate how hard I am really working and certain days I have certain intensities and I also watch how much I eat and keep track when ,what and how much I eat. But overall i do 5-6 days of cardio--no minimum of 45 min per session and no more than an hour per session and 4 days weights-- 1 day arms, 2 days legs, 1 day back/shoulders, 1 day total body sculpt. Cardio routine 2-3 days spinning, 1 day kickboxing, 2 days running 4-5 miles indoor.
phew!! I have no life obviously b/c that's alot of gym time, but I reap the rewards of a tight belly and great legs. Good luck girls!! BTW don't work too hard in the begining or you might really hurt yourself. Work up to higher intensities every 6 weeks or so.
I own my own elliptical so I do 30-45 minutes every day. Plus I walk whenever I can to run my errands. I do weights almost every day (own those too). I eat healthy but don't watch amounts too much sooo... such is the trade off
And Tinkle, I don't think dancing is all that much cardio either. I just don't think a person keeps it up long enough in a stretch. I'm a talker too, I guess. Besides, my dancing style is fairly slow so I doubt it gets my heart up even as much as strolling about town does.

the clubs i work at you do half hour on stage every 2 hours. i dance medium to fast 2 out of 5 songs. so i definitely see the cardio potential.
only problem is your doing cardio in smoke, breathing it even deeper in your lungs and heart.
god i need to quit thinking about that.

45 min on threadmill,running,5 days a week, followed by some resistance and weights,on top of a tough 4 night in a row every week work schedule.

I run three or four miles five times a week.
I probably get 3 to 4 hours of cardio in most weeks.
I switch up what I am doing alot because I get bored. Some things are harder cardio work than others.
Right now I am doing belly dancing , step areobics and jazzersize type stuff (latin/funk) and also doing Pilates here and there, sometimes light weights as well. A little swimming during warm months. I like treadmills alot but don't have one right now, boohoo. I have ice skates and roller blades and on occassion I'll go skating.
I have a home stage & pole on my wish list !
