I'm 20 and I *still* get acne around my period, it's annoying. Now I have these irritated red bumps on my cheek and my hairline.
What products does the people here use that *work* and what cover that won't make it worse.

girl, I'm 27 and I get a couple of zits around my period
I've been using Retin-A on them.
Retin-A dies out your skin.

even better, with regular use retin-a stimulates collagen growth and erases fine lines.

I used to get those really bad, painful pimples that lasted forever. I am on birth control now so I rarely ever break out. It's worth trying going on the pill if acne is a big problem.
If that's not an option tree tea oil works pretty well(but smells horrible)
And proactiv really does seem to work.
It's weird but now when I get a pimple it seems to go away WAY faster if I don't put anything on it.
Only makeup to conceal it during the day then wash it well at night.
Pimples do suck. I have had many days ruined by a pimple
Hope yours leave you alone soon.

Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Eliminating Gel!![]()
I have been on accutane for 5 months, definatly some shitty side effects, but totally worth it![]()
I just had a sixty dollar spa facial and dermabrasion- it's temporarily traumatic, but it gives a good start to keeping acne outbreaks down. The Pill is a fantastic way to keep skin clear, but if not for you, just shop around for anti-acne products appropriate for your skin type and current climate (summer and winter mean different skin care.)
To cover up pimples, use Physician's Formula Green Stick- drugstore-cheap and thick, to stick to skin. Then foundation. Then smile : )
anyone use proactiv? I just ordered some and it damn well better work. Other than that I use Pure Zone by L'oreal. I buy the cleanser, astingent, and mosturizer. It's costs like 23$ for everything and it works pretty well for something over the counter.

I tried Proactiv but it didn't work for me because I have hormonal acne. I just got prescribed birth control pills yesterday so I'm hoping that will do it finally. I'm almost 23 and I thought my acne would have stopped by now!!
I love proactiv... it has definitely changed the quality of my life. My skin is pretty now... it used to suck big time.
I also like proactiv but it was getting kind of pricey. I bought some generic proactiv I found today at the drug store. It was half the price of the real stuff and said it worked just as well. I figured it was worth a try.

fuck man pimples suck! arrgh! hehe! ive heard amazing things about retin-a but im a cheapy when it comes to face stuff latley though suprisingly my face has never been clearer, i wash with got2b buff off facial exfoliater with olivestone and other stuff in the morning, and at night wash again, and alternate nights i do different things before bed, one night i use clerasil acne treatment spot cream, and the next night i put vitamin e cream i got from the dollar store hehe im soo ghetto but hey its cheap and it works for me but every1s skins different so whats for you might not be for the next right? hehe i dont know but hey atleast its not gona break your pockets to try it!

I've always found that it doesn't really matter what method I use on my face, so long as I'm consistent about it. Mostly I just use soap and water at least every night before I go to bed, and my skin is great.

Accutane here too... wash with cetaphil and use cetaphil moisturizer. After about four months the side affects such as chapped lips and super dry skin go away.
I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.
Ok girlies, pimples don't magically dissapear once you are no longer a teenager. They just tell you that so you don't kill yourself over a zit LOL!
I never had acne until I turned 18 or so and started to get lots of zits on my upper back, which was nasty-looking.
My mama immediately put me on Accutane for 3 months since we had insurance and it was covered. You have to take a pregnancy test every month when you are on it, even if you aren't having sex, which I wasn't
I made my hair and nails very thin, dry, and brittle. Also, my skin was super dry and lips constantly chapped. I developed a dependancy on Carmex LOL....
The worst thing was that I had caught a cold during that time and the Accutane made my skin so dry that when I blew my nose I burst a blood vessel in my nose. It would randomly start to bleed heavily for a week or so. I had to go to the ENT specialist and have the inside of my nose cauterized which HURTS LIKE A BITCH!
But it worked really well! For a couple of years I almost never had a zit. Now at 27 I get zits again but not enough to warrant get back on that shit!
Moral of the story: only do accutane if you have very bad acne and/or are very vain and willing to put up with months of discomfort.
