Default How to get rid of bloating?

What kind of foods does everyone eat to get rid of bloating?
Also, are water pills good for this? Ihave never tried them so I don't know exactly what to expect from them or if they are bad for you.

I already drink a ton of water a day. Does anyone know of any vitamans/minerals that help with bloating.

I can just feel the water retention and it is making me feel so tired and fat!
    Thanks everyone

I use garlic, someone recommended it to me and it has worked well. I roast it in the oven with a little olive oil. I have tried water pills before, the good ones work. The down side is that I'll end up even moe bloated than before. Are you also constipated ?

    Yes and it sucks.
I don't want to take laxatives though becouse then I spend the whole day on the toliet.
Do you think garlic pills would help?
My whole dygestive system seems screwed up right now. I don't eat great. I live off of slimfast and powerbars, pizza, and bannanas.
I am a picky eater and I am terrible at cooking. So I usually end up eiether eating out for dinner or having a lowfat tv dinner or grabbing a slice of pizza.
I want to eat more fruit, vegtables and healthy meals. But I don't know of to many actual meals that are both low-fat and easy to make.

What are the good water pills? I took Diurex once according to the instructions and had a nasty metallic taste in my mouth for days!

I got these pills at a vitamin store in Houston. I can't remember the name of them. Sorry. I would'nt recommend them though, while they did get rid of the water, I ended up even more bloated the next day !!

Taking garlic a night before you go to bed can bed good.

This is your problem...just about everything that you are eating causes constipation!!

Drink some prune juice and eat more fiber rich fruits and veggies. I know what it feels like to be a picky eater and hating to cook. But, if you are looking for good recipes and stuff that you can make more in quantity (pack and carry) I would suggest the Eating For Life book. It goes along with the body for life, but ALL of the recipes are good. I love this book!!

Don't take water pills...the bloating is your body's way of telling you that your digestive system is backing up. I am sure that once you get the "plumbing flushed" the bloating will go away...

    Good luck!

Since we're talking about constipation here....

I can't poop. My name is Taylor and I"m not a pooper. I eat lots of high fiber foods. I even put fibercon in my drinks. I take some other kind of oil that my dad said "lubes the shoot real good" ha ha...gotta love the redneck.

    Any tips?

I am a vegetarian and I have been since I was child but, I too have a big problem with constipation. After years of trying everything I finally ran across my life saver at a health food store in Houston. The product is called
CKLS and is 100% natural. Since my move to the Bay Area, I now buy the product online at http://www.vegiheal.com/
click on the New Body Shop.

Slice up a lemon and put a few in your glass of water. Lemon is a natural diuretic. Fresh parsley is also a natural diuretic, sprinkle some on your chicken or etc. As for herbs......to help with water retention...Urva ursa(natural diuretic) dandelion root(natural diuretic). To help with constipation, make sure You are getting in at least 64oz of h20. Eat foods higher in fiber, oatmeal, bran, apples...etc

That stuff looks good Farrah but I wouldn't recommend it on a long term basis' as it has cascara sagrada in it which can be quite an irratating, habit forming laxative (even though it is herbal). You want to avoid habit forming substances when you are dealing with the bowels otherwise they can 'forget' how to move on there own.
Triphala is wonderful for this problem, it has been used for thousands of years in India, it is a mixture of three fruits and very easy to take. It also has alot of nutritional value, Triphala cleanses and detoxifies without depleting the bodys' reserves like alot of colon products can.
I would urge all of you suffering from this problem to check out this site.
    http://www.planetherbs.com/articles/triphala.html
It explains the different types of laxatives aswell as giving more info on Triphala. Since I have been using it I have got rid of my bloated belly, I go 1-3 times a day and feel 'alot cleaner' inside.

At an emotional level constipation is thought to be from being mentally unable to let go, from holding on to things...
    Thats Louise L. Hays theory.

Of course plenty of fiber and good quality water are essential!
There are plenty of herbal teas that help for various tummy upsets. If anyone is interested I can post up a list (?????)

I think I also read somewhere that eating TOO much fiber causes constipation as well. You really need to learn how to eat completely balanced meals and snacks. Maybe going to see a good nutritionist would help as well...to get some ideas on what and how much to eat to stay regular.

One main reason that people get constipated even when eating a high-fiber diet is because they typically don't drink enough water to help get things moving along.

Try some Go-Lean Crunch cereal. The fiber content's high and it actually tastes good.

Also, I can't believe no one mentioned that sodium helps retain water! Stay away from high-sodium foods. Read nutrition labels, but one good rule of thumb is that pretty much ANY fast/processed food product is loaded with it. Soups are especially full of sodium.

Thank you so much to everyone who replied . You guys have so many great tips. I already got the garlic oil and b-12 tablets which I heard are good for you.

Ninadaisy- I diden't know that soups were bad for you. I was wondering if that means that canned fruits are also bad for you?
Are they as healthy as eating fresh fruit?
Just wondering becouse I eat ton's of canned peaches and canned pears.
    Also what about fruit juices.
In everyone's opinion what are the healthiest juices to drink?
Thanks again you guys are great

Read labels. I didn't say soups were bad for you, but they tend to have a ton of sodium. It's listed under nutritional information. Canned fruit isn't the best because it's usually packed in syrup. Fresh is better than canned, but canned is better than none at all.

I rarely drink fruit juices anymore because they're pretty much just sugar. Even orange juice if it's fresh squeezed. Eat an orange instead. All the Vitamin C, tons more fiber and far fewer calories. Cranberry juice is really bad too because it contains High Fructose Corn Syrup since cranberries are naturally tart. That's shit is the worst; stay away from HFCS!

Generally anything in a can or out of a package isn't as good for you as you'd like to thing. Tinned fruit and fruit juices are full of sugar most of the time and are so pasterised they have no 'life energy' left. Fresh is always best.
If you are going to take a B12 supplement mags make sure you take a complete B vitamin aswell to ensure proper absorbtion and avoid getting deficiencies of any of the other B vitamins. B vitamins are essential for alot of things but keeping the muscles in the colon/bowels working is one of them.

I'll try the things Krys recommended. Thanks girl

Just to clarify. I only upped the fiber in my diet when someone told me how unhealthy it was to only "go" once a week. I drink hot green tea with my breakfast, an occaisional glass of OJ and then nothing but water throughout the rest of the day.

When I first started taking tonalin CLA...that helped but not so anymore. Grrr.
