I'm going to go way off topic here but how many of you have studied your genealogy?

I have always wanted to...but never got around to it. On my mom's side would be easy...but on my dad's side...ugh...
How did you have your geneology chart done?
I had a customer who was born in Germany and his parents immigrated to the States just before WWII broke out. His geneology chart was done because back in those times, you had to prove that you were "aryan" and nothing else. Turns out that he is the great-great-great grandchild of Heir Mozart!THAT was cool...me being a total Mozart officianado and all. LOL

I have been researching my family tree for about two years now and have found allot of information on the web and from my genealogy site I have been contacted by distant family members from ever branch of my family that helped fill in allot of the blanks I'm also an ancestry.com subscriber its definitely worth the price you can use the census reports to trace your family back to 1790.Originally Posted by VenusGoddess link=board=1;threadid=13855;start=msg182031#msg182 031 date=1096230017

Cool! I will have to check that site out now! Thanks!!

My dad's adopted so the tree is kinda lopsided. I can trace my mom's side back about 12 generations I think. I personally didn't do it, but the family hired a professional...![]()

This is a free site that may help in your research: the Internet Archive can be used to look up obituaries in newspaper websites from the past 5-6 years that have since been removed from the main obituary sites sites.
As an example, www.al.com is the web presence of most of the major newspapers in Alabama. They typically only carry about 180 days worth of obituaries in their archive online, but if I look up www.al.com in the Internet Archive's WayBackMachine, I can find copies of the website from the past 6-7 years and use the obituary archives in THOSE sites to give me an archive spanning some 7-8 years.
