    Default What kind of exercise for excess fat/skin on back?

    Ok.. since I've gained a little weight, when I arch my back or turn my torso, there is a folding of skin/fat on my back--that lines the curve of the back of my ribs, between the shoulder blades and waist. Do you know what area i'm talking about? I want to know what kind of exercise will actually target this area? ???

    It's all diet...you should also be doing cardio and a weight routine if you want to get rid of it. You'll gain muscle mass, burn more fat, and get more quickly to the body that you want.

    isn't there a certain type of weight exercise or movement that targets the area though?

    body targeting for weight loss usually does not work... It is better to just target the whole body then over working certain muscles or parts.

    I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

    Yes...over-working one body part or toning "just one" body part creates a muscular imbalance within the body. It can lead to other problems within the body (back pain, etc).

    Check out Shape magazine's site for some good exercises to target back flab. you will notice real results after 4-6 weeks. better fitting bras/clothes and better posture.

    So it is possible to get rid of it then? Doesn't have to involve surgery? I'm starting to notice it too but then again, I haven't been taking care of myself like I used to. Yich.

    If you belong to a gym, hop on the eliptical machine (the one where you hold onto the arm handles and move them simultaneously with the leg sliders...errr... i hope I described that correctly... my vocab is lacking this morning).

    That will definitely get rid of back flab.

    Also, try the rowing machine.

    I would lose weight/do cardio. If it seems to be genetic (some of my latin friends are prone to get this- they get top heavy and back fat forms), there is liposuction. I had it as part of my B.A. and it did not hurt and I have no discernible mark from it. Especially if it's just minor ultrasonic lipo.

    I have the same problem...ive choosen diet as an aid and cardio. Ive been doing them and training....dont tire yourself out quickly and burn out...loosing chub in place where you hate it the most takes time. But after 2 weeks of healthy eating and working out i lost 3 lbs..yay! You can too ::pats on back::
